Question for Everyone

I created a little poll for everyone. I made the answer really easy, but I am sure there are some people who find a reason to disagree with the correct answer. Hopefully it is not to difficult. I don't have enough words so I am going to fill space with my opinion of the game. Brett looked like he was slow on the trigger and took some unnecessary hits, but he was also protecting the ball. I was really impressed with Percy Harvin. He is a threat to make a big play every time he touches the ball. AP, what can you say about him. Defense looked good. When they don't get stuck dealing with a short field (onside kick) there isn't many teams that can move the ball on them.

Poll
Which NFC North QB had the highest QB rating week one?
Aaron Rodgers (92.0) thanks to blown coverage on a 50yd TD
7 votes
Jay Cutler (43.2) Bears QB of the future with 4 Ints
0 votes
Brett Favre (95.3) To old to play, to much of a gun slinger, no one on the team likes him
110 votes
Mattew Stafford (27.4) 1st overall pick, 1st game of his career
5 votes

If you were to tell me

That 7 INTs were thrown by NFC North QBs in Week 1, I’d have to give Favre 1 or 2. The fact that Cuntler had 4 and Stafford had 3 amazes me.

Silly Jepp...

There’s no ‘n’ in ‘Cutler’…. oh wait.

Purple is the new black.

were you trying to start a new nickname for Jay? cus the Bears fans wont like that one at all

Jared Allen is to football what Jason Voorhees is to Lake Crystal.
Percy Harvin is Devin Hester, except someone very smart decided to teach him how to catch and run routes.

Heard it used before

And let it be known I call him that. I have respect for the Bears TEAM and Bears FANs…I absolutely hate that douchenozzle Cuntler and his diabetic INT throwing arm.

by Jepp The Viking on Sep 14, 2009 10:47 AM CDT up reply actions

wow

I get the first one, but damn… insulting the diabetes? Ouch. LoL. Hilarious in the cruelest of ways. Whatever though, the Bears looked terrible.

Purple is the new black.

LOL

I break even. I manage a lab studying diabetes and trying to help alleviate it. Neutral karma in my book.

Favre's recent QB ratings:

2007 regular season: 95.7
2007 playoffs: 99
2008 when healthy! (11 games before he tore a tendon in his throwing arm): 94.7

great poll

excellent comparison who have thunk it could happen…an old man, washed up, no friends on the team and omg no int or fumbles. GO VIKINGS GO #4

BF by a nose

I think both Brett and Aaron did what they needed to.

All in all, I would have to say Brett did exactly what was asked and proved he can “manage” a game. Aaron Rodgers was far from the MVP I have heard people touting of him so I would have to say week # 1 goes to BF based on expectations versus accomplishments.

Very surprised that AR and the Pack struggled against Bears who seemed to move the ball at will against the Pack. Of course Cutler always seemed to put an end to all the drives. Point is, seems its a little more difficult when teams are trying – huh Pack fans? It’s not the preseason anymore!

Lastly, anyone get the feeling we weren’t hitting on all cylinders? Man we put up 34 points and didn’t come close to what i think we can do. That could be scary for the rest of the NFL.

by PurpleJesus on Sep 14, 2009 11:11 AM CDT reply actions

34 points on 2 TO, and 1 big play and a good return game. I think team can put up alot of point this year.

Jared Allen is to football what Jason Voorhees is to Lake Crystal.
Percy Harvin is Devin Hester, except someone very smart decided to teach him how to catch and run routes.

One turnover was garbage time and the Cedric INT was essentially a psuedo punt since we had to drive 82 yards for the score. Certainly not a deep in the opposition territory insta-points turnover.

The browns are not a great team this year. They are mediocre and we soundly beat a mediocre team – which we SHOULD do.

Now, will we do that to the Lions? Cuz they are bad and we dang well better win by 2-3 scores there too.

by Hoss-Drone on Sep 14, 2009 12:38 PM CDT up reply actions

But its the Vikings

Usually when there is a good team the Vikings will do awesome against them. Then when they play a team that they should dominate the Vikings do poorly. Look at the Lions games last year and then look at like the AZ game.

by loafrat on Sep 14, 2009 1:50 PM CDT up reply actions

If we beat the Lions next week, they will set a new record for the longest losing streak in the NFL.

The Passing Game better show up

looking at what Brees did the Vikes WRs and Favre better have at least 2 tds and 300+ yds

by solafide on Sep 14, 2009 3:08 PM CDT up reply actions

well none of the other qbs

have adrian peterson, so farve gets no credit.

What up?

by snakethejake on Sep 14, 2009 11:36 AM CDT reply actions

Favre and Rogers are good QBs, Cutler and Stafford are average

I don’t think that’s a surprise. Average QBs don’t do well against top defenses (See Vikings at Phi. in playoffs last year). At least the Lions can hope Stafford improves. The Bears will regret giving up so much for Cutler unless their defense can carry them deep into the playoff either this year or next.

by ChemErik on Sep 14, 2009 11:38 AM CDT reply actions

As much as I don't like the Bears...

Cutler was a Pro Bowl QB. He’s got loads of talent, and while he couldn’t win very much in Denver, he didn’t have any sort of defense. I would not put Cutler on the same level as Tarvaris. Cutler is much better. If he was in purple, you would be loving it.

Nah, Urlacher was right about Cutler...

Dude is a pussy. He is a Pro Bowler when he has a fantastic O-Line and playmaking receivers. This guy wasn’t on the same page with anybody for a bunch of the game, so he kept going back to his security blanket in Bennett. Neither team impressed me much last night; I am, however, glad that we have a cupcake early schedule to get our offense on the same page…

Is it just me

Or does starting out thrashing a bad browns team a HELLUVA lot better than watching T Jack struggle in Green Bay for week 1?

for the self called engrish fail. Much respect.

None of them played that outstanding, to be honest

Although I confess I did not watch the Lions (though it’s clear I din’t need to, to figure out how he did). But I did watch the whole game of the other 3.

I’d give it to Favre definitely — not spectacular, but that was a GOOD thing, he shouldn’t have been trying to be spectacular. That rating probably goes over 100 if Taylor and ??? don’t drop those two passes in the first drive of the 4th quarter (then again, to be fair I saw Driver make a couple drops of Rodgers’ balls too).

I’d say:

1) Favre — did exactly what he needed to do, nothing of consequence that you can say he needed to do but didn’t do

2-3) tossup between Rodgers and Stafford. Stafford was worse, but it was his first game, you don’t expect much. Everyone expected more of Rodgers. If rodgers had not gotten that game winning drive at the end, I would have put Stafford ahead of Rodgers, even though Rodgers’ numbers would have been better, and Rodgers had the excuse of Barbie getting owned on every pass rush. Because if you grant Barbie as an excuse for Rodgers, you have to grant Stafford a whole team of excuses ;)

4) Cutler. Ewww! What more needs to be said? Did any QB in the entire league have a worse week 1?

by puddnhead on Sep 14, 2009 11:56 AM CDT reply actions

All we need

Is for Favre to manage the game….We dont need a savior…Also need Childress to leave a back in to block for Favre…

by WVVikings on Sep 14, 2009 7:30 PM CDT reply actions

Favre

With Rodgers coming close behind. Favre did what he needed to do and Rodgers did for us as well.
