Sunday wild card games

I may be the only person who is watching this game and is willing to talk about them, but i wanted a place to voice my opinion. With just a few minutes gone in the New England and Baltimore game, the Ravens are up 14 -0 with a long run coming from Ray Rice and a sack/fumble (aka Jared Allen special) from Suggs.  The ravens look faster and more ready for playoff football. The loss of Wes Welker maybe even bigger than expected.

New England

is playing like they have reserved tee times in the Virgin Islands on Tuesday. With non-refundable tickets for their flight.

But it’s early.

So Far

This has been the most boring wild card weekend. Most years the games are close, but this year I have had some good naps during the games. And thank the lord that NBC does not have anymore games. That was the worst announcing yesterday espcially the first game. I hope we don’t get Troy and Joe next week.

The Arizona Cardinals are a slightly better football team with Kurt Warner playing quarterback than they are when they take turns trotting Brian St. Pierre and Matt Leinart out there.

Wonder if McCarthy was smart enough to account for the slight upgrade at QB. Certainly doesn’t appear that way.

Well, fortunately for the Packers

They don’t have a quarterback that will make a backbreaking turnover in a big situation to lose them a playoff game or anything.

And did the #1 defense give up 51 points? Ouch.

It’s too bad that the Packers did not win. They have stained the honor of the NFC North.

Total BS

The Refs called every other play as Defensive Pass Interference against the Cards all night…and then there was the phantom 1st Horse-caller penalty early in the game.

I wouldn’t say Rodgers choked. He brought the Pack back from 3 TDs down to tie up the game. That was a good play by Sansby.

So if Favre retires after next year...

Do we get Rodgers then? Is that how it works?

The mental pretzel twists that the Packer Favre haters go through after this one should be interesting

There are eerie similarities between today & how the Packers last got knocked out of playoffs — two years ago, by the Giants. The Packers get outplayed, have a defensive collapse somehow manage to come back to tie the game in the 4th, sneak into overtime when the other team misses a short FG to win in closing seconds, win the toss & then the QB, the hero of the regular season & otherwise one of the bright spots of the game, turns it over to give the other team the easy score.

Favre got crucified for that turnover in OT two years ago by many over at Acme & elsewhere in “Packer Nattion,” he labeled a “choker.”. Will be interesting to see if Rodgers gets the same treatment. I’m thinking not. But truly their “failures” were eerily similar in those last two playoff games for the Pack.

I’m don’t blame Rodgers for this loss. Even if I really believed it, to be consistent I still couldn’t do it any more than I blamed Favre for that loss. But those Packer fans who crucified Favre for that loss, I don’t know how they can look at themselves in the mirror if they don’t pin this one on Rodgers too. If never understood their thinking, so maybe I’m missing the way they will weasel out of this conclusion from applying the same logic to Rodgers’s turnovers this time.

by puddnhead on Jan 10, 2010 10:27 PM CST up reply actions

No I don't doubt that it won't

As we’ve seen a lot over here in posts from fans like “Donald Driver,” lots of packer fans have a giant blind spot in their reasoning when it comes to Brett Favre.

I feel bad for them, in all brutal honesty. They have one of the greatest players of their generation, maybe of all time, start every game for them for sixteen years, shattering nearly every QB record in the process, and … they can’t even let themselves enjoy it. Truly pathetic and sad for them.

BTW, I had atypo in my last sentence, should have read “I’ve never understood their thinking”

Love hate relationship

They love the Packers more than they love Favre, unlike many of us who jumped ship to the Vikings. I actually had my own shirt made to remind them what they’ve lost. GOLDEN ARM #4 PROPERTY OF MINNESOTA check it out at www.llsportswear.com on their online store. It’s sure to get a rise out of the fudge packer fans.

Damn...

Cardinals QB Kurt Warner gave a near-flawless performance, completing 29 of 33 passes for 379 yards and five touchdowns. It’s worth noting that Warner threw more touchdowns than incompletions (four).

I BELIEVE...

I think this should be phase 3 completed on Favre’s revenge tour?

Phase 1 and 2 beat packers….check
Phase 3 mentally willing the packers to defeat as AR chokes in the playofss….check

And phase 4 on Feb 7th: Vikings win the superbowl

by dsludo on Jan 10, 2010 10:00 PM CST reply actions

+4

I’m not sure about what phase is what, but there are definitely four phases. Each phase has 28 cycles.
