With all that has gone on in the past few weeks, I figured it would be a perfect time to reminisce on some of the events leading up to what we saw today. Certainly, those who are paying attention to football and also media pundits will remember many of these events. Remember when...?
...Brett Favre was old, washed up, a turnover machine, ready to implode, and certainly going to result in the Vikings' early exit from the postseason?
...Adrian Peterson fumbled on every carry he had?
...The 2009 Green Bay Packers Defense, the greatest defense ever assembled (despite not being the top defense in the league this season), won Super Bowl XLIV after beating the Arizona Cardinals in the regular season finale?
...The Super Bowl XLIV Champions, the 2009 Green Bay Packers Defense, gave up half a hundred against the Arizona Cardinals despite being picked by just about every talking haircut to win decisively?
...The Dallas Cowboys were a mix of the 1972 Miami Dolphins, the Steelers of the late 70s, and the 49ers of the 80s?
...Those same Dallas Cowboys were crowned Super Bowl XLIV Champions after twice defeating Philadelphia in consecutive weeks?
...The Minnesota Vikings were convinced by ESPN and other media outlets to forfeit their divisional playoff game against the Super Bowl XLIV Champion Dallas Cowboys, since everybody knew there was absolutely no chance they would win?
...Tony Romo was the greatest quarterback in the history of professional football for managing to do what most average quarterbacks can do, win a game in December?
...Anthony Spencer turned into a combination of Reggie White, John Randle, and Dwight Freeney after having a respectable 4 game stretch?
...The Super Bowl XLIV Champion Dallas Cowboys offensive line was incapable of allowing a sack?
...The Super Bowl XLIV Champion Dallas Cowboys (Note: They were the second team to win the Super Bowl this year, aside from the 2009 Green Bay Packers Defense) came to Mall of America Field and proceeded to not only allow the most points they have all season (34), but scored the fewest points they have all season (3)?
...ESPN, FOX, CBS, MSNBC, all other sports outlets, and individuals of various affiliations (whether they be pompous Cowboys fans or bitter Packer fans) were caught looking like fools with their pants on the ground?
I remember all of it, and it makes today's win that much sweeter.
