"I didn't get a ball today, and I didn't get a look at today. It just happens," Williams said. "It's frustrating. It pisses me off, especially when we lose and especially when I feel like I have a mismatch. I got a 5-10 corner [covering me, Dontonio Wingfield], but hey, you know, I will continue to work hard in the offseason and it will come back around."
Cowboys' receiver Roy Williams, via ESPN.com.
Hey, Roy. . .when a guy spends four quarters slapping you from one side of the field to the other, it wouldn't kill you to get his name right.

Dontonio
The name is in brackets, which typically means that it was inserted by the writer. I think it’s actually the brilliant mind behind this article at ESPN that claimed that “Wingfield” was guarding Williams.

Could Be
But one would think that if that was the case, someone at ESPN would have caught it and corrected it by now.

Since when has ESPN been concerned about accuracy?
I mean, really?

Even if it wasn't Roy
It’s still funny. Real funny.
My notations are fuzzy
I always thought the brackets was when the writer knew the speaker was incorrect, yet wanted to draw attention to the inaccuracy. I know there is an editorial marking for it, I just can’t remember for sure if it’s the brackets.
I thought brackets were to add context that the speaker omitted
But I could be wrong. If that’s the case, this is all on ESPN, not Williams.

you are correct
If the writer is folowing standard usage, the brackets should indicate that these are words that he has inserted, not that Williams said.
In other words, while Williams is still a moron, he is less so of one, it is the writer thta screwed up Winfield’s name. Ergo, two morons.
did it even matter?
going into this game, i knew roy williams was a non-factor. that guy cant move.
smoke em' if you got em'
Roy williams is a tool
I can’t believe how terrible he’s become…and then he spouts off to the media. Hey Roy, you didn’t get the ball for two reasons: 1. You suck…BAD, 2. You weren’t open.

He can't become terrible, he was never any good
Detroit trade-raped Dallas for I think three draft picks. WTF?
That's not even close
to Winfield’s name.
How can someone screw the name up that much?

No class
You got beat, show a little class and admit it. If the Vikings put in their water boy you should say something like, “Damm, I’ve never been covered like that before, and he gave me the best water I’ve ever had. Cool and refreshing with a low sodium content.”
When you trade for a Detroit reject, what do you expect?
The man is simply not a good NFL receiver.
It makes sense. The Cowboys were ill prepared to face the Vikings yesterday. It is quite possible Williams and Co. took no interest preparing for what and who they would be facing. If it was a slight, then he is delusional. Everyone is calling him a bust and it would take some nerve for him to be calling out Wingfield like that.
Huked on fonics werk'd four me!!!!
Wow, either this guy got hit one to many times or if someone wrote the article like that, they need to go work for Yahoo Sports, they would fit right in!
"If you're gonna shoot, shoot, don't talk."
"You men are only risking your lives, while I am risking an almost-certain Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor!"
"We have clearance Clarence. Roger Rodger, what's our vector Victor?"
This thread is frickin hilarous!
Not to change the subject but does anyone know the extent of Edwards knee injury? I’m still bummed about the loss of Henderson. And man I wish Joe Buck would stick to baseball!
we might know more after Chilly's monday speak-a-thon
I’m sure there are reporters who get paid to ask important questions like that.
I BELIEVE...

Is Adam Sphincter reporting a big old schism in "Big D" today?

IT IS FUNNY
The cowgirls is funny. they got rid of the devils and got the devils sister. LMAO HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. This can only happen to the cowgirls. roy “i am the new t.o.” is here.
Dear Vikings Fans
I was wondering if you could help me. I seemed to have lost something in my recent ass kicking in MN. If you would all be so kind as to help me find my neck, my head and chest would greatly appreciate it. Thank you in advance.
Sincerely,
Keith Brooking

Yo Roy
Didn’t you see the game, hardly nobody got a ball thrown his way!!! Wait, Leber got a pretty good one his way….
I'm going to combine those two names
and call Winfield “Dongtonio” from now on

Roy hasn't shown up all season and
this matters why? He always opens his trap and can’t back it up. Worst trade ever , maybe not worst , but pretty close I am sure.
Anyways stop beating a dead horse. Your team won they lost. None of this matters now unless you need drama. I would worry more and blog thoughts about the Saints. This just seems useless as your not playing the Cowboys this week .
"When people talk about Super Bowl dynasties they mention the 1970's Steelers, 1980's 49ers, 1990's Cowboys and the current New England Patriots, but nobody has dominated the Super Bowl like Anheuser-Busch. In recent years, Budweiser has been the MVP of Super Bowl advertising -- making another company the favorite to win the Ad Meter poll was never an option."
Simon Noble
Benny Sapp
Dunno if you guys noticed, but I thought Sapp had some nice “Winfield-like” tackles/plays in the game vs Dallas. Did anyone else see improvement in his play?
I remember notcing one good tackle
and not noticing anything stupid
that is certainly an improvement
An intentional mistake
That was Peter King’s column “Monday Morning Quarter Back.” Peter is a super verbose, cerebral, and punny columnist. I’m sure that he intentionally spelled our corner’s name as the former NBA Forward.
Think Chris Bergman, with a few advanced degree’s in journalism.
