Around SBN: Champions League Preview with Jimmy Conrad

Dear Keith Brooking:

I am not a sophisticated individual. I'm a meat and potatoes kind of guy, I wear Wranglers, play football in the mud with my friends for fun (in said Wranglers), and once in a while, I like to tip a few back. Many football fans are like me, unsophisticated, and not educated in the ways of class. Thus, we turn to you for help! We have some questions about certain scenarios, and we'd like to know if these fall into classy or classless, since you are apparently an expert on determining the level of class in given incidents.

Star-divide

Since you are the expert on what is and is not classy, we need your judgment on the following:

1] Was it classless for Keith Brooking to do the Dirty Bird in front of every section of the Metrodome in 1998 when the Falcons won the NFC Championship?

2] Was it classless for the Cowboys, facing a 4th down with 2 minutes to go from the Philadelphia 35 yard line, leading 24-0, to pass in that situation?

3] Was it classless for the Cowboys to not come out when announced, and instead come out as the Vikings were honoring Joe Kapp, who was there to sound the Gjallarhorn?

Your thoughts, Keith.

Given what I’ve seen today around the internet, he’d make a good fit in Green Bay. Just as much sand in the vagina.

Vikesully - Good job on the research

While I like players with heart and soul, Brookings is definitely not one of them.

Nice find. Wonder if...

…that move was known in the huddle prior to the next play? Perhaps the TD was in retalliation? Hmmm….

If they threw that 4th down TD because of the Brooking-Berrian pin, they should have just said that was the reason. Why not? Screw those guys, they obviously deserved it. I hope they are called out on it, a week after we have the SB Trophy in our case.

I never saw the Vikes have

such an “in your face” attitude.
As i watched this game I saw Cowboy players jawing at our WR’s and AD.
Don’t know what went down in the huddle. Maybe BF just told them to stay cool and stay on their game. W’ll stick a dagger in their big mouths at the end and shrug our shoulders.
brookings. You are a loser on a losing team.

by CitrusFLViking on Jan 18, 2010 10:19 PM CST reply actions

That was my impression, too. I thought Favre was so pumped about the FIRST touchdown because his take on how the Cowboys were jawing was this: you clowns can talk trash all you want, but I’m here to play some football, and playing football is what is going to decide this game. Sanford got suckered into that taunting penalty. The moral of this story is that a good slap in the face with an extra touchdown is always harder for the big talkers to swallow than just talking some trash back. If you want our respect, you had better bring along some respect for us with you when you come. I hope Keith cries his little eyes out all summer. “Looking like a fool, with your pants on the ground.”

Indeed!

I live in Dallas and the whining going on here is driving me nuts. I am glad to find some commonsense on the Daily Noreseman, though!

If I never see another kneel in football

I will be a happy man. I think we all tend to forget that it is an entertainment business. If I wanted to waste 6 minutes of my life, I could watch paint dry. Aren’t all NFL players paid well to keep us entertained?

by TheEvilProfessor on Jan 19, 2010 10:18 PM CST up reply actions

Some of the Dallas fans are using the late TD

as a diversion to the fact our team got the crap beat out of them. I’m glad Favre scored the late TD, maybe it will give the players something to think in the off season. If someone knocks you down, you either get and fight or run away. I think Dallas will come back a better team next year and I hope do to the Vikings what they did to the Cowboys. Good luck the rest of the year, this just maybe the Vikings year to win it all. I’m sure all the Vikings fans think it’s about time.

by Grime on Jan 19, 2010 12:52 PM CST up reply actions

no diversion needed there wolfy

they plain got their a** beat. Most fans know that last touchdown played no part in that game either way. The game was decided during the 3rd quarter when it was obvious Dallas couldn’t do anything to the Vikes D. I will just be glad when all this is over with and we can get back to football :). Reading some of this makes me realize why shows like Jerry springer , etc were such great hits. We all remember the past touchdown but forget to talk about the game that was actually played and how well the Vikes did. Just seems more important to me than who cried or who needed style points. Ok football now please lol

"When people talk about Super Bowl dynasties they mention the 1970's Steelers, 1980's 49ers, 1990's Cowboys and the current New England Patriots, but nobody has dominated the Super Bowl like Anheuser-Busch. Eagles fan here- This post was from Haywood J on the Cowboys fan wall, Kudos:

oh, cry me a river from vikesully on DN:
1] Was it classless for Keith Brooking to do the Dirty Bird in front of every section of the Metrodome in 1998 when the Falcons won the NFC Championship?

2] Was it classless for the Cowboys, facing a 4th down with 2 minutes to go from the Philadelphia 35 yard line, leading 24-0, to pass in that situation?

3] Was it classless for the Cowboys to not come out when announced, and instead come out as the Vikings were honoring Joe Kapp, who was there to sound the Gjallarhorn?

seriously, the cowgirls aren’t god’s gift to football, you got beat by one heck of a better team, so get over it

RIP JJ

…Just wait until it sinks in that they’re stuck with son of Bum for a few more years. Fans of the 31 other NFL teams rejoiced upon hearing that news.

I LOVE IT

He’s a joke, the guy is a pushover and thats why Jerry Jones wants him around.
As an Eagles fan it was great news. How pumped they were as the healthiest team beating the 4th most injured team in the league, I know were gonna rebound this year, I cant wait to shut up Brooking/Romo/ and Miles
Romo is over rated, by far. only reason he lit us up was our lack of pass rush (Dawk/ Bradley out) our LB core is weak so he attacked the middle.
Miles Austin had a few big catches this year when he wasnt schemed, now look at him, every 3 yard catch hes flexing and spiking the ball- next year he’ll be shut up.
There D is decent but 4 of our starting Olinemen were out, no protection for McNabb or the running game. Every possesion was inside the 20.
Jerry Jones is a controll freak, Wade has no clue to what he’s doing, Romo is scared of the playoffs and they have a big as TV to pay for
We are going to rebound big next year. but in the mean time I’m a Vikings fan

RIP JJ

again

Congrats on your wins there in Dallas. But think about the team you beat
-Our D coordinator passed away in the preseason.
-Then Dawkins went to the broncos so we lost our captain. Our starting FS in his place was a rookie.
-Then our second captain S Bradley tore his ACL,
-3 weeks later none of our starting LBs were playing. Philly was down to there 7th option at MLB
-Then our RT went down for the yr with a bad back,
-Lost our LG the first half of the season and RG the second
-Before we played Dallas the 2nd time our Center & leader of our O-line J. Jackson was lost due to a ACL
-Our starting WR’s were a rookie and 2nd yr player.
-Kevin Curtis was lost for the year with a torn knee.
-Westbrook played 1/3 of the games and when he did he was very limited, so our starting RB was a rookie…
-During the Game our LT Pro Bowler Jason Peters went down leaving Ware to match up against a 2nd stringer

So what, you beat a injury riddled team with 1/2 of the starters playing from the year before, not because new players beat them out but because of injury. So the way I see it you played and beat half our team. Then you played the Vikings… a healthy team, and the nation watch the Cowboys reveal themselves as fumbling choke artists lead by the biggest choker in the NFL, Tony Ohno.

RIP JJ

Excuses, Excuses, Excuses

Fact is Romo didn’t choke the O-line got its ass kicked. Looks to me most of the philly fans want Mcflabb gone, and I don’t blame you.

by DIRE WOLF on Jan 22, 2010 12:42 PM CST up reply actions

he's 32 with one year left on his contract

I love the guy and hope he stays, but it makes sense to trade him for draft picks while he is still one of the best to rebuild our not long ago dominate D, ecspecialy with a QB in the waiting.
Romo won 1 playoff game and it was against the 4th most injured team in the league 2 weeks in a row, No O-line, No LB’s, rookie safty and RB. Again, he plays a team with a full roster and all your left with is a big tv when you go back to Dallas

post i saw on those nfl.com threads after the vikings beat them:

“Hey Jerry, Look at the bright side, you can go home and watch the replay of the beating on the WORLDS LARGEST TV”

ha ha!

Hey MeanGreen

I don’t wanna show up for work tomorrow, can you write me a excuse note please? Your excuse note for the three losses to dallas was inspiring. If you can conjure up excuses for getting beat three times in one year, I’m sure you can come up with something that will make my director think that its ok for me to stay at home and watch tv.

by alanTdot. on Jan 24, 2010 4:14 PM CST up reply actions

haha ok you've got jokes

whats your excuse
Dallas thinks they have the best qb, best running game, best D
If it were any other healthy team out there you would have lost. look what happened against the Viks. You will not win with Romo and Wade. In my opinion you still havent won a true playoff game. you play a twice defeated team in the first round. Look at Romo’s face during a close game, do you still have faith in “Americas team”? Cowboys fans are front runners from the 90’s who are stuck now because they talked shit then

RIP JJ

Cowboys Press Release

Cowboys won against the Vikings or thats what all the media was saying. The Cowboys are America’s Dream NOT. The only reason I wanted the cowoyboys to beat the Eagles was for HOME FIELD advantage. Otherwise I Don’t LIKE the Cowboys I like the Cowgirls.
