This is something that annoys me more than anything. This last game it was known that the group of refs covering the game have had a bias against the Vikings. Only 1 play all day went our way, and it was an offsides penalty. Then there was that stretch when the Vikings had like 4 penalties in a row called against us, and the obvious defense of pass interference that happened to Percy on 3rd down. I'm glad that the Vikings blew out the Cowgirls because if it had come down to the wire we could have gotten screwed.
I'm just as worried about this week. Ultimately a team has to come out and play well and shut down their opponent but a bad call can totally change the tide of a game. the reason I'm worried is were playing the Saints this weekend. In the 2001 AFC Championship game, remember the tuck rule that went New England's way, and unless you were a NE fan you knew was a crap call. There was a lot of speculation that went on and some guys including Skip Bayless from ESPN that had heard that call went NE's way because the NFL wanted the "patriotic team" in the superbowl just months after the September 11th attacks.
No disrespect to New Orleans, what happened with hurricane katrina was truly a tragedy, and the Saints have been a huge emotional lift when that city and state has needed it most. Everyone says they deserve to win the superbowl this year, that the city deserves it. No offense but New Orleans doesn't deserve it anymore than anyone else.
Heres my concern, and i may be complete nonsense, but is anyone else worried that the refs could have a huge role in the outcome of the NFC Championship game? I'm not saying that anyone from the saints organization would have anything to do with it but what if the NFL pulled some strings to get the Saints in the superbowl because it would be such a heartwarming story. Don't get me wrong if the saints come out and stick it to us I'm not gonna say there was anything going on. I don't mind losing I just want to lost fairly. You know the NFL will never admit to fixing any games because or particular calls because they don't want a debacle like what happened in the NBA. Anyway what are your thoughts? This is not a slight to New Orleans, they have a great team and organization.
