Vikings Much Healthier than Giants Going Into Season Finale
The Vikings, compared to many other NFL teams, haven't had a lot in the way of injuries this season. They dealt with the foot injury to Antoine Winfield for about two months, and had the season-ending injury to linebacker E.J. Henderson, but other than that the Vikings have remained fairly healthy during the 2009 season. On the other hand, some teams have had to deal with numerous injuries to key personnel. Few teams exemplify that like Minnesota's opponents on Sunday, the New York Giants.
Here is the Giants' injury report:
Jacobs is their starting running back, Phillips is one of their starting safeties, Ross is one of their starting CBs, Pierce was their starting middle linebacker. Those four players are all on injured reserve. In addition, NFL.com is showing Corey Webster, the Giants' other starting corner, as out, as well as defensive tackle Chris Canty and starting offensive tackle Kareem McKenzie. All of the other injuries are accurate as shown above when compared to the NFL.com report.
Compare that to Minnesota's injury report:
The only difference between this report and the one from NFL.com is that DT Jimmy Kennedy is listed as being out for Sunday's game. There have been rumors floating around that the Vikings are going to move Antoine Winfield inside and give Benny Sapp the start at corner, as Winfield might not be all the way back from his foot injury yet (as evidenced by his performances against Carolina and Chicago).
The Giants are going to have a lot of back-ups on the field tomorrow afternoon, but as we saw last week, that's no guarantee that the Vikings are simply going to roll them over. The Vikings simply need to perform the way they've performed at the Metrodome all season, where they've yet to be held under 27 points by any opponent. If they can do that, then they'll be in position to sneak back into that #2 seed if things work out the way we want them to.

Yeah....
Get a W, and let the chips fall where they may on the seeding….
Not much choice at this point…
Hope we get our heads together for this game….
A LITTLE bit of a pump prior to the playoffs anyway….
Will be a good game (I hope)….
SKOL!
I would rather be IN the Arena than watching from the stands...That is my life!

Erin Henderson is currently suspended
I think he’s innocent, but anyway, it will last four games.

Last thing these guys need
is a report that will make them feel too comfortable.
We have not been coming out of the gate ready to bash some people around.
We need 4 things
1. A quick turnaround in secondary coverage
2. Some attitude changes in the lax attitudes by our primadonas.
3. Spread the offense from the get go. Namely. Don’t start with AD in a single back set on 1st and 10.
4. Get Brinkly out of there, put Greenway in the middle, Heath on the outside and rotate Robison in at LB/DE. BR could run the LB spot in run stop and short yardage passing situations. Although if it were a for sure passing down Farwell gets the nod. Like to see Kenny get a few shots at it too. That kid is pure heart.

brinkley
in my opinioni has not too badly against the run
its the pass that he struggles at
why does it seem that all viking linebackers can never cover a wr or te?

In Brinkley’s defense, he was drafted because of his run support. Pretty sure Frazier mentioned he did some similar schemes at S. Carolina. But really, this is the NFL and linebackers need to hold their own against the passing game. Brinkley is in over his head, but only because Frazier has put him in too soon.

Things are going to get even weirder in Week 17
New Orleans Saint are starting Backup QB Mark Brunnel, with Rookie Chase Daniel becoming Backup QB, with Drew Bree becoming 3rd QB.
Broncos have bench WR Josh McDaniel’s.
what else is happing to make this weeks game more uncertain?
Maybe Childress will have QB Travis Jackson as the Starting QB. or sitting all the starting offense and defense….he is weird enought to do something like that…..
If Philadelphia and Minnesota lose and Arizona wins. Then it will be
1. New Orleans Saints
2.Arizona Cardinals
3. Dallas Cowboys
4. Minnesota Vikings
5. Philadelphia Eagles
6. Green Bay Packers
Jacksonville Jags are needis a wins against the Browns, and have 4 of the 5 other teams (Baltimore, Denver, Houston, NY Jets, & Pittsburg lose! Boy talk about a long shot, but I believe there is a bunch of weird things about to go down, as teams start benching their starters……
Everyone we meet in life give us happiness, some by their arrival, others by their departure!

The coach was benched?
Or you could say Broncos WR Brandon Marshall has been benched by coach Josh McDaniels…

Exactly
Carolina and Chicago went into the games with the Vikes with key players out or limited and they both whipped the Vikes. Brett, Adrian, the rest of the offense as well as the entire defense need to come out “like a bunch of crazed dogs” to quote Lawrence Taylor.

wtf are you smoking?
I’m a giants fan and I don’t think it will be anything close to that.
We may score 57 points, but then you guys will be right up there with us

Favre does not have a Super Bowl MVP
Return man Desmond Howard got the MVP in that Super Bowl.

Turn on sports radio in the Slackers media market during football season and you’re about 50/50 to hear how Brent has Desmond Howard to thank for his SB ring.
by Salty on Jan 3, 2010 8:49 AM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Yeah, interesting take.
Favre threw for 246 yards, 2 TDs and no interceptions and ran for another touchdown. Howard’s kickoff return for a TD occurred when the Packers were already ahead and just put them further ahead.
