PrintDefense? What is this "defense" of which you speak?
The Vikings took their opening drive of the game and marched 80 yards downfield, scoring on a 19-yard run by Adrian Peterson.
The Saints responded with a touchdown drive of their own that culminated with a 38-yard screen pass from Drew Brees to Pierre Thomas.
Not to be outdone, the Vikings marched down the field again, putting another touchdown on the board with a 5-yard Favre to Rice touchdown pass. That score gives us our current count of 14-7.
The last play of the first quarter for the Saints was a punt, and the Vikings are taking over at their own 15.

Starting From Scratch
Tied at the half, the Vikings are essentially starting from scratch.
Defense needs to pressure Brees.
Offense needs to be a little more consistent…and, uh, not bobble the ball on the five-yard line.

Seriously, the game no longer has that shoot-out feel it did in the first quarter.

Chilli is quite good
at scripting the first drive of a game. Once adjustments are made, he’s much less impressive. That’s what always worries me about him coaching. Too slow to adjust, if he adjusts at all.
That said, not a bad first half either. That fumble at the end though, reminds me of the Pittsburgh game.

That first half was like
two long living bad karmas cancelling each other out. Somehow, some way this game has to be decided by some huge mistake, right? It would be just fitting. Like the game can’t end on some team actually winning it. A snap has to go out of the back of someone’s end zone or something like that.
I could just see that happening and the final score being 30-28.
