Bobby McCray Nominated for Cheap Shot Artist of the Week
Well, okay, I lied. Maybe this Saints idea of breaking the rules intentionally is rubbing off on me.
Actually, Bobby as been fined 20 grand by the NFL for two hits on Favre.

You mean to tell me

That's what you see in that picture?
No wonder you saw cheap shots from McCray. How long do you have out of the padded room each day to post on this site?

So that picture is the same as what McCray did?
Hmmmm I smell a fail here when it comes to comparing the two…The above may be in poor taste, but IT WAS NOT INTENTIONALLY TRYING TO HURT A PLAYER, AND A KEY PLAYER (THE HEAD AS SHARPER SAID)….NFL agrees – hence the fine for McCray…This argument of yours is less than weak, it is not relevant whatsoever….

You do know Sharper’s quote was in a figurative sense right? I know there was a post saying that Sharper quote “confirmed” the fact that the Saints were trying to injure Favre but it really didn’t…
Some of you guys just need to let the loss go and stop complaining about the refs. The Saints actually had more penalties called on them, with 2 of them being very questionable (roughing passer call and late on Harvin.) The refs were bad but their calls ended up being pretty even. You guys didn’t because of the refs, you guys lost because you turned the ball over 5 times.

Not arguing the L...
just the intentional dirty play by some of their players (i.e. McCray). Dirty play has no business being promoted by the coaches nor practiced on the field. It WAS as evidenced by interviews, comments, and what happened during the game.
The number of calls one way or another as far as balanced has no bearing on this point (dirty play). Plus the timing of the missed calls for their dirty play DID swing were critical points that cost (1) a turnover and (2) momentum.
It comes down to your morals and actions. Neither were honorable IMO on the Saints part. Win at any cost – just not what I want sent regarding a message to my grandkids….That is how we got into the Abu Graib situation (OK admittedly an extreme example) …Bottom Line: .Where does it end, the compromising of values/morals/actions based on these?

Agreed
And rec’ed.
In this case, unless something unlikely occurs, it’s going to result in a bloody rivalry that should have just been professional and sportsman-like. Many fans who used to like the Saints, and would have supported them after their W, have not just decided against that support but have completely turned away from them. The ill-will created by this will not go away easily, regardless of what happens on Feb 7th.
I hope the Saints and their fans feel it was worth it… because now they own it.

So cheap so cheap.

Can’t believe this…if they would’ve called these penalties….
now instead of saying what if they had called those
say what if Harvin had held on, what if Berrian had held on what if AD have hald on…all day and not just on the sidelines and what if Brett Favre was not…Brett Favre.
Wrong
The topic of this piece is not who won the NFC Championship. The topic is that Bobby McCray and company ran up four fines for play in one game by violating the rules of the NFL and intentionally choose to win by playing outside the rules. That will not go unnoticed or forgotten, regardless of the size of any parties held on Bourbon Street.
The Colts are well aware that the Saints feel they must injure the opposing quarterbacks to win as demonstrated by their last two playoff games and don’t mind if the hits are within the bounds of the rules or not.
If the Saints choose not to play within the rules, God ain’t going to back them up, even if they call themselves Saints. As for the opposing players, if the Saints feel they want all to be fair in love, war, and football, they’ll surely get their wish.
Y’all come back now! We’ll be waitin’ and ready! :-))
well he wouldn't have been dealing with an ankle that was almost broken
So he might have ran that five yards. Hell he’s done it before this year. Hell he’s gone down field and blocked for a guy he threw the ball to.
This is it. When a QB throws a ball you have a step and a half then you cannot ride him to the ground.. Just can’t do it. It’s against teh rules I think they made those rules for a reson no? Ok lets just pretend those rules don’t matter for the saints…
rediculous.

great link you got there Ted
funny how all the media is focused on the 2 hits on Favre that were not called and don`t mind the cheap shots on Brees, also was wondering something about Sidney Rice because he seems like a nice guy so was wondering if the cheap shot he took at Ware`s knees in the Cowboy`s game was out of character? anyone? maybe he got caught up in the heat of the moment kind of like the hit Favre gave to the Texan`s safety earlier in the yr…did that end his year or his career?
It was not a cheap shot it was a cut block go watch foot ball you'll see it about a thousand times
it sucks and as a lineman you have to be prepared for it, or you’ll lose your knee. It’s illegal when you do it to someone who is otherwise engaged with an opposing player (so you can’s stand someone up and then have someone else break his knee) otherwise it is perfectly legal and just about every running back uses it to stop DE’s from killing their QB.

Not impressed with what? All those are examples of the refs blowing calls in your teams favor. The best is when that ref is staring directly at Bush, and still somehow doesn’t see that the ball clearly crossed the plain?
by packallday555 on Jan 31, 2010 5:38 PM CST up reply actions
That call was reversed....
On Bush crossing the plane….
Rest of the vid not impressed with, does not compensate for the calls not called against the Saints. Why? Some of this is subjective. There must be some inkling by the producer of the vid (and other “We Protest Too Loudly” Saints fan posters here) that the play was indeed dirty, hence the need to justify via the “missed calls” Vikes may have had?
I stand by “Not impressed.”

I know it was reversed but how do you miss that call literally right in front of your face?
I guess I can understand that but I think the fan who made that video was more trying to point out that the refs missed calls on the Saints and that there was no “let’s call the game in the Saints favor because of Katrina” conspiracy going on.
by packallday555 on Jan 31, 2010 11:58 PM CST up reply actions
Well lest just say the TD before that never actually did cross the plane..
SO. You can call that both ways as well Pack.
Games are called either way not the argument we’re making here Packallday at least I’m not. I’m at issue with their strategy to hit Favre hard even after he let the ball out of his hand. I’m not even upset with them hitting him. But the drove him to the ground and that is illegal, and uncalled for.
Still don't get that one
I know I shouldn’t feed this fire, but…..
Maybe the reverse angle showed something different. I don’t know. But when I watched the replay, what I noticed was that the Viking defender’s arm knocked over the cone, not Bush or the football. The defender’s arm was inside of Bush, and the football. So my question would be… how could Bush or the football have crossed the plane, in bounds, when the furthest in-bounds point was the Viking defender’s arm?
But maybe I’m just being biased…
Ah, ah,

Nah wasn't talking about the pylon TD
But the one previous to that when they ran it up the middle and he was short by about 1-2 feet wasn’t even close no idea how they could call that a TD. The pylon was a QUICK TD and I can see how it was a difficult call for the ref no matter what Pack states.
Whatever, I’m sick of crying about this.
SKOL my brothers.

There are more penalties for flaunting the rules than just being fined. The rules are established to protect people from being injured. If you don’t mind other people being injured, other people will enjoy injuring you. That is how human nature works.

This Just In...
The fans of the NFL’s New Orleans Saints, who once used their home, the “Superdome”, as a giant latrine, have no class.
The Minnesota Vikings - Undefeated in the Playoffs at Lambeau Field!
Why is it classless to root for the Colts?
Are you serious?
Despite having several turnovers and still going into OT, the Vikings nearly won. It could have been a 12-man huddle call or last throw Interception that would of made the difference of an outcome.. Both which could have easily been different.
But, when it comes to the Superbowl, I will root for a team that I believe is the better team. Not the supposed Under-Dog. This is a #1 seed vs #1 seed, so technically there is no under-dog to root for. I just believe the Colts are the better team. The best deserves the Lombardi, not the 2nd best.
I know if my Vikings were to make it to the Superbowl, I would be rooting for them. But when it comes to games like this and I’m not a fan of either team, I will root for the team that deserves it.
It is common for most people to have several favorite teams. One scenario I’ve seen a lot is a favorite AFC team and a favorite NFC team.
For me, I like the NFC North Vikings & The AFC North Baltimore Ravens…
The AFC North seems have been a very hard division this year. Since the Steelers, Ravens, and Bengals were all good this year. Teams the Vikings had to play including the Browns who were bad as normal.
I like your logic
I usually root for the NFC, or the underdog, but the Colts deserve to win this SB more than the Saints do. The Colts sacrificed a perfect season so they could increase their chances at a SB Victory.
Plus I’m kinda salty towards the Saints right now. :)
Good Point
The Colts could of pushed for an undefeated season. They sat their starters in their last game, and for 1/2 of the game prior. I don’t believe they wanted to push to re-live a Patriots 18-1. They could easily be happy going into the regular season undefeated if their 2nd stringers could of pulled it off as well. But than we’d have the media hype all over it.
Anyways, I’d rather root for the AFC in hopes that the NFC comes back next year to take it.
As for the playoffs
I normally root for the under-dog when the Vikings are in the playoffs. Mostly because it increases the chance for them to have easier games/home-field advantage.
(Could be considered selfish to a certain extent, but anything to help out the team you root for, right?)
But since they are out of the playoffs, and it comes to the big-game, it’s time to root for the team that deserves it. Regardless of the bad calls, turnovers, and late hits (even if they never did happen) I’d still be pulling for the Colts.
But I do understand that for most Vikings fans, for the team that just barely beat us, to win the Superbowl would just potentially be more salt in the wound. It just means it could of easily been the Vikings.
TRULY, SAINTS WILL WIN!
Saints 37 Colts 28
1) Brees to throw at least 3 TD passes
2) Saints running backs (including Bush) to have at leas 2 TDs
3) Jermey Shockey to have a major impact.
Saints 37 Colts 28 or Saints 41 Colts 28.
I'm still pulling for the Saints
I more want it for the city as a whole … they need and deserve some reason for civic pride. And I’m weird I guess, I would pull for any team to win their first superbowl. I would cheer for the Lions if it were them.
But I admit it, my enthusiasm for it has cooled. The team, coaches, and ticketholders on the Vikings sideleins, after what has come out over the last 10 days … I could care less if they get it. Just the city, and just the generic desire for any tieam to get their first Superbowl win. I used to be more personally motivated, but not so much any more.
I see your reasoning..
But, I think most of them will be happy enough to just be in the Superbowl. I think a lot of people will agree that the Colts are a better team. If the Saints do win it, I would not be surprised if it was due to lucky falling on their side. (Missed field goals, Colts going turnover crazy, missed calls, bad calls, etc).
Good points,
I actually also liked the saints a lot before the NFC Championship game, so much so that they were my second favourite NFC team after the Vikes. But after seeing what they were trying to do to Brett (and what they actually did to him) and the absolutely classless behaviour of their fans I just can´t stomach rooting for them anymore. It will be Colts for me on Sunday, and I do hope that the saints will get their butts kicked big time. GO COLTS!!! Skol!

To me
all that was done to help them in their time of need – is what they needed – and received in plenty, from this great country. I’m sure everyone in N.O. is proud that they came back from that devastation. Cities have civic pride before and w/o a SB win – or you don’t have it w/ a SB win.
