Once Again, Favre Named Player of the Week
For the third time this season, Brett Favre is the NFC offensive player of the week. This is the 16th time in his career that he's received player of the week honors -- but never before has he received it three times in one season. He finished the regular season with 316 passing yards and four touchdowns against the Giants (his sixth 300-yard game of the year).

Don't Forget
That was in LESS than 3 full quarters. Wow! I don’t even think R4F could’ve predicted the TD/INT ratio this year. How great is it that he got it 3x with the Vikes, but only 11 times with the Pack? :) (2 as a Jet).
I’m glad we have the bye and all, but I sure will miss watching them this Sunday.
GO VIKES!
Wow! I don’t even think R4F could’ve predicted the TD/INT ratio this year.
I doubt that. I’m sure he guaranteed a 40:0 Td/Int ratio before the season started.
3 wins away from me fully embracing R4F. Until then, he’s still off his rocker in my book, haha!
If you can't laugh at yourself... Who can you laugh at?
The Packers, that’s who.
-- The almighty Manimal
so what happened R4F
Revenge, where are U (when we need you)?
Warranted
Just adds to the validation of what he has accomplished this year….
In spite of all the naysayers, nonetheless he has shown he can still perform at MVP level…
As an (ahem, cough cough) shall we say somewhat more mature individual can appreciate….
Just because you are a little older than your peers, doesn’t mean that you cannot hang with them young’uns!!!!
Good for him! Let’s hope the wily fox now can bring it all home and even go for two before he rides off into the sunset!
I know, I know, one step at a time….
Jes’ saying/thinking!
SKOL!!
I would rather be IN the Arena than watching from the stands...That is my life!

MVP
New team mates, coaches, atmosphere, 40 years old. Same old Favre. No other MVP candidate can say that.
Skol Vikings!!
That's what I'm saying,
Favre is in his first year with the Vikings, and he’s old…lol……That should hold some weight in their final decision for MVP.
Not to mention, at the beginning of the year, the Vikes were considered to be a run-heavy team, with mediocre receivers. Favre was brought in as a game manager, nobody expected Favre to have the career year that he had.
Manning, Brees and Rivers have been with their teams for several years. They already had team chemistry, so they should be performing well. :)
My other pick for MVP would be C.Johnson, he’s had an excellent season. Especially if you consider the Titans were 0-6 at the beginning of the season.
morning Viking dudes!
displaced Packer fan (last year and this year). hey, check out this link to a Bleacher Report article I wrote in July 2009:

Sort of goes hand-in-hand with the ESPN Seifert article from yesterday on the Favre/Viking “experiment”…and did it work. I think it’s safe to assume that most people concur that Favre had a great REGULAR SEASON with the Vikes. It’s the post-season that’s concerning the vultures who are lying in wait. SKOL FAVRE! SKOL VIKINGS! and congrats to Harvin on Offensive Rookie of the Year!

Nice article...
and those of us who back Favre on the Vikings team have seen similar activity here.
A lot of negative noise at the signing and leading up to the Regular season, which died off while we were winning.
As soon as we lost our first game to Pitt – boy… the hawks were diving in.
Then came December… and the old complaints/complainers swooped in again – noting his well publicized December issues.
Brett simply played his best this year – BEST YEAR EVER!
And now… as we wait to play our post-season… we know too, that Brett will not win, even if the Vikings win it all.
I for one have enjoyed his MVP-like season, my VIKINGS are 12-4 (one of their best seasons EVER), have 1st round bye, a home-field playoff game, and a genuine, experienced leader at the most important position on the team.
It’s a new season now and I’m ready to CHEER on the VIKINGS!
Thanks for sharing!
GO VIKES!!

When Favre retired the first time, from Green Bay ...
… he said in his retirement PC (the one he cried at), that he felt he could still play, but something like “living up to begin Brett Favre is hard to keep doing.”
Although maybe it sounded “diva-ish” to some, I knew exactly what he meant.
There are a lot of NFL fans (especially Packer fans, sadly) who will say he “failed” or “choked” if he does anything less than win the superbowl. How so many Packer fans could say he was “washed up” & “good riddance” to him after the year he had in 2007 — presumably all because of one admittedly bad decision in the fifth quarter of an absolutely horrible condition game, in which most of his team stopped performing in the first quarter, forget about the fifth — was very, very eye opening to me. Favre literally carried that offense singlehandedly the first half of that season, they had one of the worst (if not THE worst) rushing offense of 2007, before the emergence of Ryan Grant from their practice squad. Although there are posters here at DN who said that when he signed, and haven’t changed their tune, there are very many fewer singing that tune than there were in Packer fan circles. I hope if Vikings fall short this year (which, let’s be honest, the odds are more likely than not to happen — the same is true of EVERY team in postseason), there will not be a rush of people coming out and blaming Favre (unless there is good cause, e.g. something more than a single bad play).
No other NFL player seems to get that kind of pressure or expectation. Even Manning, who will probably be the MVP, will not be called a “failure” if his team doesn’t get a Lombardi. “It’s hard to keep living up to being Brett Favre” indeed.

He's mentioned something like that this year too.
"It’s been a great year," Favre said. "I’m not surprised by the fact that we are in the playoffs. Where we go from here, we will see. This team is capable of doing a lot of good things. I thought about that throughout the whole process of coming back, of what was acceptable versus not acceptable. I had to be cautious with anything less than Super Bowl. Although that is the main goal and the only goal, I can’t beat myself up. I can only do what I can do and hope that it’s good enough.

Such analysis only proves what HAS happened, not what will
To make a quality prediction, you must evaluate why past results happened and establish cause and effect. It appears injuries have had an effect in recent years, though that doesn’t explain his late career fading completely. Favre is healthier now than he has been at the end of a season in several years. I expect no more than a small drop in performance. A rested, healthy O-Line should allow enough running game to offset the slight drop in Favre’s performance.
you're right.
we know about the well publicized bicep tendon.
and the Dr pointed out he had an ‘old’ injury to his rotator cuff which had calcified when he had his BT fixed.
Makes me wonder when that RC injury occurred and what impact that had on his season.
Healthy now. 3 more games to go.
I BELIEVE...

Packer Fans Have 0 Credibility
when it comes to opinions about Brett Favre. They are loyal to GB for sure, but other than that they are unsophisticated, illogical and easily mislead/manipulated by the media.
Tell me about it. i live in the heart of it and will say that most, not all GB fans have it wrong. Not all want the guy to do bad, but there are many that have already revised history and say he wasn’t taht good after all. Its mind blowing to me how fans can be that rediculous. I unserstad that some are pissed that he went to a rival. That I can live with, but to discount what he did here is just nothing but sour grapes. As a displace packer fan, I hope he goes all the way. Never thought I would root for a viking team, but in this case I can make the exception.
Never been NFC player of the week 3 times in a season
And yet he won three league MVP’s. What does that say about how well he played this year? Hmmmmmm….. I’m not sayin, I’m just sayin.
"We have a right to be proud, for in our veins flows the blood of many brave races who fought as the lion fights for lordship. Here, in the whirlpool of European races, the Ugric tribe bore down from Iceland the fighting spirit which Thor and Odin gave them, which their Berserkers displayed to such fell intent on the seaboards of Europe, ay, and of Asia and Africa too, till the peoples thought that the werewolves themselves had come."
