Griffin Out For The Year With ACL Tear Of Other Knee
Well this isn't good.
Cedric Griffin will miss the rest of the year with a torn ACL in his right knee, just two games into his comeback after tearing his left ACL in the NFC Championship Game last year. You got the feeling that he knew it was bad as soon as he was hurt last night. Now the worst has become a realization.
This hurts on all sorts of levels. The Vikings were already thin at corner, and Griffin was playing out of his mind before he got hurt. You really have to feel for the guy after he worked so hard to get back into the starting lineup.

its funny because when he got hurt he didnt even look like he was in pain. It was more like a “wow did i really just fuck my other knee up”. Kinda like he laughed at the situation.
I thought he looked pissed.
When he was sitting there and took his helmet off immediately, I got the feeling he knew it was bad and the frustration showed. Poor guy, that has to be discouraging.

I feel bad for Cedric and all, but I’ll be honest I’m wallowing more in self-pity as a fan of the team right now, than for him as a human being.
I just get the feeling the football gods are laughing at us. It sems like every time the team tries to get an important piece in place, they knock one out somewhere else.
Get Better Ced.
Everyone here in Austin are really bummed about it. I think everybody knew it was his Acl by his reaction.
SKOL VIKINGS 2010!!
such a shame
he was out on the field early last night working out/stretching
Get well soon!
This is so heartbreaking and you could see it on his face the moment it happened. He knew.
We’ll miss him on the field but Asher Allen has played solid and Chris Cook should be back by the Green Bay game if not this weekend.
Get well, Cedric
Although he was finally doing well in terms of Success Rate, only 3 NFL corners had a lower +WPA than Cedric Griffin did. I do hope that he recovers quickly for his sake, but I am confident that the Vikings can and will find a better CB to replace him…unless he comes back ready to play safety. They could use him there.
We can't catch a break on injuries this year.
Cook injures knee, sits out, gets better. Comes back in, injures OTHER knee, same injury.
Griffin… yeah.
Sullivan, sits out, gets better. Comes back, injury after like a single play.
Rice better take care of himself, after taking 2+ months off, a reinjury would be ridiculous.
That said, if we pick someone up to fill his spot, PLEASE get someone who can make catch interceptions. I’m completely done with our DBs gator clapping wayward passes, having the ball fall incomplete, and them just standing there looking salty. It was cute 3 years ago, but it’s getting very old at this point.
well just be glad
the green bay penalties packers have lost quite a few more “key” players. I am ok with only a couple going down…
Both corners, both knees......tough.
the way this is going, the offense will get it together at the same time the D springs a leak. We are not ready for a shoot out yet.
Conclusions anyone?
Based solely on a statistically insignificant sample size (Chris Cook, Cedric Griffin), we can jump hell bent to the conclusions that (A.) knees were not designed for playing NFL football, and that (B.) God just loves symmetry so darn much, that if you mess up one knee, fate will give you a equally matching messed up knee on the other side within six months time at no extra charge. No wonder Childress is bald.
Or the Vikings’ rehab department has made some mistake consistent between the two players.

Ziggy and company may need to open the wallet again ??
We need a list of 4th , 5thv , and 6th CBs and P/S guys that stand 6ft or taller ? Would Ziggy be crazy enough to go after ASOMUGHA ??? Routt is 6-1 as M.Mitchell is 6-1 in OAK . Both TEN ans HOU found two CBs in the last draft . With a couple 6-1 guys . How about Philly ? Or Pitt ? We need to start looking at recovering vets ? We can’t just wait until it’s too late . At least the Trade deadline isn’t until Oct. 19th ?
Wow what the fuck, this ruined my day. :(
You knew it when it happened, I just thought it was the same one. Guys this goes farther than football. Forget about us being thin at corner. I kinda know what hes going through. I broke my wrist the first game of the year after a rigorous off season. I was devestaded, then I was able to play 2 weeks later with a cast. I got my cast off and found out that I have to be done for the rest of the season because my break never fully healed because I kept playing. I was so exciting to finally be able to be the guy on offense and now i cant. It justs breaks your heart, so now I have to go through another hard offseason to get here next year and hope to god I dont get seriously injured again. Best wishes to Ced because I would be crying if I was him. This sucks on every level.
What you just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your entire rambling incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Yes it is unfortunate for him and also for you
But the dude just got paid a nice big contract to the tune of 28 mil before the start of last year.
I do not feel too bad for him at all. He is still getting paid.
The dudes that get hurt before they get paid are the ones I really feel for.
But it is still playing a game for some serious money. And the average career last somewhere between 3 to 5 years. Hopefully Cedric took advantage of his free ride at Texas and earned a degree.
Having said all that I do know where you are coming from and it is sad for his legacy as an NFL player. He will now have to come back from TWO knee surgeries. That will be tough and hopefully he does not lose anything skill wise.
Top it off with the injury prone rookie and the CB situation is not too good.
Well this is where we'll disagree
Some guys play the game for the fun of it, and because they love it. Not to get paid. Thats just an afterthought, and a very nice bonus. Cedric always seemed like he was playing for all the right reasons, was never a distraction and was always trying to get better. Thats why I loved him as a player. Now Im not going to sit here and tell you that he wasnt in it for the money, because I dont know bu from what I saw he wasnt. And its a little vindictive to not care that he just tore his ACL because “he is still getting paid”

If the Jets meet you guys in the Super Bowl this makes things a hell of a lot easier.
Not sure we’ll actually see you there though.

Yeah, because you guys will lose in the divisional round
Dude, you’re a Jets fan. Othar than catching lightning in a bottle one time during the Vietnam War, your franchise is as inept as any in football.

Ok?
If you want to talk about franchise history how about we bring up the 4 Super Bowl loses Minnesota amounted to. You wish you had the Jets luck and caught lightning in a bottle huh? At least we have a Super Bowl trophy at our facility. Meh, the past is the past anyway, the present and the future is what matters.
Present
Your team has dug it’s own grave by putting all of it’s hope in the hands of one 41 year old man. When you’re organization gets off its hands and knees and stop allowing that man to run your franchise maybe you’ll have some success. As of now, you’re Super Bowl aspirations seem pretty bleak, way bleaker then the inept Jets.
Future
Worry about finding a way to fund for a new stadium and keeping your team in Minnesota. Your own state won’t even fund a stadium after threats to move to LA after 2011 when your stadium lease is up. That’s just sad, it speaks for your state and team. You call me a Jets fan as if it’s an insult. You’re a Minnesota fan and in time there will be no such thing as a Minnesota football fan. Call me crazy but I feel pretty good in the position I’m in. My team is playing well, we don’t have to worry about getting evicted, It’s the good life.
