As of yet I have not posted here so I truely hope I am not stepping on toes. I have been an avid and loyal reader of the DN and respect much of what I read. My claim to being a fan, I was 9 years old and my first NFL game was our beloved Vikings and at that time our nemisis Los Angeles Rams in the cold at the Met. I can honestly say the only time I have missed them play is a handful of games 80-84 while doing a stint in the USN. Im not sure what to think of the Vikes this year. Is it just me or does it seem haphazourd almost aloof going back to the start of this years camp? Players in/out. The idea was last years NFC champ. game was the Vikes have the goods this is the window.
If the team truely signed on to that belief from top to bottom why would a FO toss one of the best blocking 3rd down backs to the windy city? Why would a guy who had the year he had wait to have a recommended surgery know he's out half the year min.? And then key a QB age or not that said and played like it was his best year not be on the band wagon up here early at least with clip board in hand holding a press conferance calling all VIKINGS to battle. What a missed oppertunity to truely be a leader your last year in the game.
I watch as all you mighty fans do and each game I have my little ritual. My Mountdew is just arms reach away while I munch and crunch a 6 pack of tacos during the first drive. Im watching looking for that thing that truely good teams thrive on. That one tangeable that brings it all together. The uncoachable factor that is somewhere hidden in a cities plight a teams spirit a momement when you know the clock is ticking and your Vikes are down but beyond tomarrows daily grind for a moment you as a fan know this team will win this game. I have tasted that many time with these Vikings over many many years. Some how this year seems to be always on the very end of what ifs.
I look to some posts and its geesh the Vikes could be 1 and 8 and someone would beb trying to convince themselves the season starts with the next game. In my opin we have allowed an owner to place a very inept football mind in a coaching position. In last nights pre game it was said a team is the reflection of the head coach. That in itself should scare any Viking fan when they look at chillie. Sadly the Vikings have always played this "dont get to wild out there mentality" They frownd on Millard when he was ripping Peoples heads off and tamed him before his injury, they tried to calm Randall when he was telling opposing teams he was going to eat their babies.
Jarred cuts the Mullet and now picture chilli in his lil vest and his hat does that look to a coach your gonna tear some ass into somebody for? These Vikes lack what good football teams have and thats heart. This is a team thats yes prolly will make the playoffs just cause thats what the Vikes do beyond that there is no way. 40 years of watching you can tell when its good and when its just wrong. Sorry if I goofed up posting I just wanted to say something ...anything. Velvet
