My First Vikings Game
So it looks like I scored some tickets to the Vikings-Bears Monday night game on December 20th.
I am a life long Vikes fan from central PA and have never been to Minnesota let alone been able to see the Vikings play live. I'm graduating from Penn State just days before the game and this figures to be a nice little graduation present. I am just excited that I can dust off the old #84 jersey that I got for my 12th birthday and wear it proudly once again (I got it extra large so I could wear it forever, only to see my boy traded. Same thing for my Scott Rolen Phillies jersey....barf).
As of right now it tentatively looks like we will be flying in Sunday morning and leaving Tuesday night. I was just wondering if you kindly folks had any advice as far as good places to stay, bars to check out etc... As well as any just general information that might be helpful for a first time visitor to Minneapolis/ The Metrodome.
Thanks in advance, Skol Vikes!

I’ve never been to a game in Minny either. Hopefully its a memorable trip!
"We have a right to be proud, for in our veins flows the blood of many brave races who fought as the lion fights for lordship. Here, in the whirlpool of European races, the Ugric tribe bore down from Iceland the fighting spirit which Thor and Odin gave them, which their Berserkers displayed to such fell intent on the seaboards of Europe, ay, and of Asia and Africa too, till the peoples thought that the werewolves themselves had come."
-from Bram Stoker's Dracula
I’ve never been to a game in Minny either.
Me neither. And I have close family living in St. Paul! Why does it have to be so expensive? :(
So that we can afford Bernard Berrian
A bit too much to bring up BB?
I know and I enjoyed doing it. Thank you very much.
Unless you are staying in walking distance . Remember to take the Light Train out of the Eastside Basement level of the Mall of America . $4 / round trip . Drops you off in front of the activities . Remember also to enter the Dome an hour early for stretching . Walk on down to the rail near the SW tunnel first . Then walk around to the East Endzone for the close up chats with players .
Sneaky Pete's before the game
It’s right on the Light Rail that you can take straight to the Dome, and they always have a great crowd before and during home games.

I know you'll have fun, Bro
I fly home alot. My most memorable game was after the accident. It wa slike my 1st game again. Nice places around the Mall of America. You can stay near the airport and like our friend above mentioed, use the light rail. Spend some time downtown and at the mall. After the game (and win) you should be able to find some places to celebrate. Some of the nicer pubs and grills are located near the Wolve and Twins venues.
If I was going this year I would bring you on a nice ice fishing adventure. :) If you like hockey. Take ina local high school game. You will see why most the 80 olympic team was made up of Minnesotans. It is cheap and a fun night out.
Find what hotels or motels are available near a rail station and your transportation and places to see are an easy trip.
I was gonna do a jersy add soon but already read you had one . You have fun and early congrats on graduation.
