PrintThe Vikings and Packers have given us an exciting contest thus far, but Viking fans can't help but wonder if we could be ahead by more.
The Vikings had made it to their own 40-yard line with about 20 seconds left on the clock and two timeouts left. A long pass to Randy Moss just prior to that was negated by a "push-off". . .the referee's words, not mine. . .on 84. But despite advancing the ball and having timeouts left, Brad Childress decided to just sit on the ball and go into the locker room with a 17-14 halftime lead.
The Packers will get the ball coming out of the locker room at halftime. . .the Vikings have been much better in the second halves of games this year. Let's hope that that trend continues.

but we are winning

Well
we’re winning the turnover battle, AD’s going at a pretty good clip, we’re in the lead, and this season our offense has been better in the second half. The only bad part is that Aaron Rodgers still has over 200 yards passing in a half, so we need to find some way to slow him down, although if we keep picking him off it won’t matter how many yards he gets. I guess there’s a lot of reason for optimism. Go Vikes.

Well it seems clear to me what our main problem is...
and this game highlights it PERFECTLY, unfortunately. The O-line is just killing us with their inconsistent protection. :(
You can blame Favre for throwing shaky passes once he’s in trouble but in all fairness is STARTS and ENDS with the Offensive Line’s complete inability to block consistently for him. And the key word is “CONSISTENTLY” – it’s not enough to sometimes keep your QB safe, you have to do it the entire game.
Too much knee-jerk hate though right now...
I’m the last person to say it but I’m going to – everyone needs to just calm down, the game certainly isn’t over and in all fairness to the Vikes, we could still be in the lead aside from some really craptacular calls by the ref (3 that I can think of at least)…
There’s still time but they need to settle down and the Defense needs to reassert itself. Where’ the pass-rush? It’s officially dead, I’m afraid. :(
TIME TO FACE FACTS
Favre is a below average QB. Period. He cannot carry this team. They need to rely big time on Peterson, Harvin, Gerhart, etc. then let Favre make a few play action plays.
