Brett Favre To Sit Out Of Vikings Practice On Wednesday
That's what Brad Childress has told New England reporters during his weekly conference call with the media members of the opposing team.
Childress has said at least once that if Favre doesn't practice this week, he's not going to play on Sunday. Every practice that #4 misses at this point is another step closer to the re-emergence of the Tarvaris Jackson era in Minnesota.
Favre is having his weekly press conference as we speak. He's wearing a walking boot on his foot, and has said that he'd "love to give it a try" on Sunday. The odds of that happening, however, appear to be getting increasingly slim.
If Favre can't practice for the Vikings, however, there's no way he should be out on the field on Sunday.

Here is waht he said at conference
per Kevin Seifert:
Vikings quarterback Brett Favre conducted his weekly news conference wearing a walking boot to protect his fractured left ankle. But Favre made clear that he wants to play Sunday against the New England Patriots and is pushing hard to return to practice as early as Friday.
Has anyone discussed the possibility
of Favre starting to keep the streak alive, handing off to AP one time, then being replaced by Jackson?

If that happens,
my respect for Favre dissipates. And Chilly should not cave and allow this to happen. Favre is either our best option to win and should start and play the entire game. Or Chilly should start T-Jack because he is our best option to win. The Favre streak should not be a consideration.
Your fantasy football expert since Jerry Rice's rookie year.
He would look like such a d*** doing that.
Then the world would know that Chilly has no nuts, Favre’s more concerned about his streak than this team winning, and oh goodness how he’d be slayed in the media. I love Favre but he needs to sit his arse down for a couple of games and heal up. He is NOT " Wolverine" the self healing wonder!
I hope not
If Favre doesn’t play, he should be inactive, in my opinion. Even if that means having Joe Webb as the backup. Reason being that Tarvaris has been a bit injury prone over the course of his career. . .if something happens to him, then Favre would have to go back in, and we’d be pretty much right back where we started.

Some guy named Brett favre discussed it a few moments ago
“I don’t want to go out there for one play, I don’t wanna go out there for three plays,” Favre said. “If I’m going to play, I want to be out there the whole game.”
Sweet.

It puts an asterisk on his record.
Better to end it in a blaze of glory- for G-d’s sake, the guy’s got some pretty damn good reasons to sit at this point. I mean, 90% of the QB’s out there couldn’t have played through HALF the injuries he’s carrying at this point- add in that it’s on top of a 41 year old’s body, and forget it, I can’t think of any QB in the NFL right now who could do it. (Peyton Manning MAYBE. That’s a BIG maybe.)
probably
but favre already said that he wants to play the whole game if he starts so that is already out the window
Good things come to those who keep fighting

well, that exactly what Peyton did
and did anyone call him a douche?…and oh, by the way, Peyton is the only person in the NFL who has a snowballs chance in hell to catch Favre consecutive starts
I believe in Abba’s poll that option garnered 35% of the votes
I have no problem with this....
As long as he can play and would be listed as backup QB if he didn’t start. If, however, he would not be listed as backup, but Chilli gives him the start just to keep his streak alive, then, I definitely have a problem with it, and for the same reason that Gonzo gave above regarding the whole active roster issues.
I'm not a big Peyton Manning fan, but...
the circumstances surrounding him playing the first series and then checking out were not even remotely close to the circumstances surrounding Favre. Other than being cautious for the playoffs in a “meaningless” game, there was no reason why he couldn’t have played.
Manning is the closest to Favre’s record but as you said, even he only has a snowball’s chance in hell of surpassing it. In fact, I heard he would have to play continuosly through 2016 to make that happen. The record will forever stand regardless. Favre’s playing this week would serve no purpose other than to further stroke his ego.
Breaking Favre's streak...
Also assumes that you don’t recieve a SINGLE concussion that risks your game-time status. I doubt Favre would have gotten as far as he had in this streak had the current concussion rules been in place throughout his career. Plus- Favre played the majority of his career when QB’s weren’t treated like untouchable divas. That will probably be an asterisk on his record- a GOOD asterisk.
he actually got a concussion, missed a play, and snuck out onto the field
before being cleared by the medical staff and actually threw a touchdown. so yes, he has had concussions.

according to Warner, he didn't know much of anything after the game
love him or hate him. Call him a diva or “me-me” person, but the one thing alot of people forget is he will go down swinging and truly does want to help the team (even if it is a sink or swim situation). Everyone says he should sit himself down but how in the hell does a guy who gives everything to the game, who has played this game for roughly 30 years, just give up?? It never should have been up to Favre in the first place to decide if he plays or sits. Everyone is quick to blame Favre for not wanting to give up the streak but it seems to me coaches and FO people care more about it (in the sense that they don’t want to be the ones to end it) then Favre does. I have seen alot of hate towards the guy and I can see why people are quick to turn on him. But don’t blame the guy for wanting to play. Hate him for his not coming to camp. Hate him for throwing picks. Hate him because of Stergergate. Hate him for being a diva, but give the guy some props and stop hating him because he wants to play the game and feels (maybe he only thinks he can help) like he can still do it. The one thing no one, and I mean no one can call Favre is a quitter. Isn’t that what we want from a leader. To clean up the mess that he/she may/may not have made? Just my take and no need to bash me. Just a little non-radical insight on what I think about Favre.

I don’t believe it that if he doesn’t practice this week, he doesn’t play. I mean, he didn’t practice the whole offseason with us, but was still starting on opening day. If Brett feels like he can play, he will play, regardless if it’s right or not. And if he wants to play, and chilly says no, then I believe things will get real ugly from here on out.
Favre on Sunday
I hope Favre can and does play. Favre injured is still better than many starters. So many Favre-haters,so many jerks. Best of luck to Favre—he sure is due!
Keep them guessing
Gimpy Farve or mobile TJ. Kind of hard to devise a defensive strategy for both. Just win the dang game, I don’t care who is playing.

It doesn't matter who starts
A 70% Favre or Jackson who hasn’t had any signficant playing time in almost 2 years. Regardless who it is, the rest of the team is going to have to step up. Especially the defense. We can’t allow them to put up 20+ points this game with such a question mark at quarterback. Now, that also means the offense can’t turn the ball over and give them short fields to defend. Our running game has to work (and i don’t see why it can’t) for Jackson to succeed, and the same goes for Favre. It doesn’t mean run 75 % but It does mean when they run it the 50% of the time it has to be around a 4 or 5 yard a carry average.
Has Walker just earned him a starting job?..who woulda thunk it? Chris Cook didn’t look explosive as before his injuries and right now Walker held his own. That can change quickly when Tom Brady is throwing but I just don’t want to see us get shredded up by the Pats pass offense. Give our offense a chance, like they were doing against the Pack. (No points allowed by them in the 4th)
I love good close games, but I think we as fans are due a blow-out game. And no, not in the Patriots favor. Give us something to gloat about, its been hard for me to back myself up at the bar. Live around the DC area and still I find Packer fans coming into my bar..what luck. Stupid packer fans.
SKOL
I'm thinking Favre will start, and play against the Patriots.
Favre walked off the field under his own power Sunday Night.
I saw him on TV walking around with a boot on, and he was doing so with no crutch’s.
Favre doesn’t exactly need practice to play. As long as he can watch game tape, his performance will be the same.
Favre’s not throwing all these picks because he doesn’t know any better. He’s throwing them because that’s what he’s done throughout his entire career.
So with all that said, unless Favre’s injury is causing him great pain, I think he’ll play.
Agreed chaosg and if you watch his presser you can tell he wants it and chillys leaning that way but saying that, I like favre in there but he better be able to make plays happen if he cant i hate to say it play TJ for this week rest favre for the next week. But I hope favre can play it makes for a great game if he can because there pass D is BAD so who ever plays QB we need a win yesterday!!!!!!!!
This is a complete mess
Be real everyone. Favre IS hurt, he’s playing extremely poorly, but he wants to keep the “streak” alive and show he is a gutsy hero.
Problem is, he’s hurting the team by playing injured and playing poorly. He just put Chilldress in a very tough position media-wise. Chilldress SHOULD do what is best for the team and play the QB who can move around, avoid the rush, push of his ankle to zip the ball when needed: aka Jackson, not Favre. But Favre’s comments today will make Chilldress look bad both in the locker room and the media.
Favre is a selfish, me-first player. I guess this is what happens when you make a deal with the devil.

Relax Ace I think if favre does play and after one qtr its not working chilly will have no choice but to play TJ I personly hope favre plays good and we win but if its not working because hes playing hurt fff it we have to play TJ I guess we will have to see how it all plays out SKOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Favre's selfishness...
I hate trying to figure out what this guy thinks. I don’t know if it’s because we’re surrounded by Favre haters or Favre lovers, who either make him into the devil or into a hero… there’s very little unbiased viewpoints on the guy. But then there’s also the fact that Favre can act, well, really weird, for lack of a better word. Is the flip-flopping just to get attention, or does he really not know? Does he want to play because he wants to fight for his team, or is it because he loves his streak more than the Vikings? There’s “proof” and “evidence”, as much as there can be, to make either case.
I did notice that Kevin Williams said that if Favre doesn’t play, it’s “Oh well! Get ready TJack!” (That was highly paraphrased). It stood out to me because the Vikings, up to this point, had really had Favre’s back- in light of the Sterger scandal, his poor play, his questionable health- the player’s comments had seen to consistently show that Favre was their leader and they WANTED it that way. It could be telling that KWilliams said that, maybe there is finally a bit of exhaustion in the locker room over all this- or, again, maybe KWilliams was being a pure pragmatist about the issue, and just stating the obvious- whether Favre plays or not, the rest of the Vikings are showing up for football come Sunday.
Again, annoyingly unclear.
Something tells me we'll see Favre start against the Pats
But whether he does or doesn’t, beating New England on the road is a lot to ask of our current Vikes.

Well good news
that the Pats are 30th against the Pass.
So, that’s something anyway.
TJ ?? TJ ??? TJ ???
If anyone thinks TJ has improved just look at this year’s preseason. Find three good passes in any game. THREE JUST THREE. It is not there. SAGE was so far ahead of him and even super raw- WEB looked decent. At least he knows how to drop back and make 3,5,7 foot drops everytime. TJ is the greatest imposter for a concerned, diligent, professional QB I have ever seen. I never root for anyone to get hurt, but if BF goes out there he will get hurt because he is a sitting duck and our line while improved with Sully in the middle now is still very suspect. TJ will not last long either, the man is just like watching a young kid playing with his I-pod on a unicycle in a china shop - it is a disaster waiting to happen. WEB may be our QB sooner than he should be. Meanwhile the Giants sit with Manning and SAGe, the Eagles have two good QB’s and we have a crippled-egotistical-offensive genious, with dashes of what the…, legend, pretender project and super athletic guy. What a mess. FIRE BRAD CHILDRESS AND BEVELL!!!!!!! Someone said let BF heal for the important streach. If we go 0-2 we are probably done. This team does not have what it takes to go on an 8 game winning streak and do something in the play-offs. BRAD HAS TO GO. HE SHOULD HAVE NEVER GOTTEN AN EXTENSION LAST YEAR. -- ONE LAST NOTE. Jared Allan either needs to A) sit B) give back 1/2 his salary to the Vikings or charity 3) start getting sacks - on 3rd down would be nice.
Leslie Frazier
There was an article on Yahoo Sports tonight by, um, what’s his name, suggesting that Chilly could be replaced sooner than later by Frazier. He suggested that Frazier’s easy going demeanor would be a better fit for the team than the way Chilly goes about it, and I agree. I try not to hate on Chilly though, because I suppose he would prefer a supersonic wedgie over what it’s been the last couple of weeks.
Brett's streak only mattered in a superficial way to the Packers .
How many times did the Green Bay coaches and former FO guys have him go out and snap the ball twice before sitting . And how many times did he go around on crutches all week then play on Sunday at GB ? This story is getting old . Just like the Jenn one . I see Wrangler pulled their commercials during the NBC game due to slanderous and liability issues . Brett has a case as does Wrangler to counter sue Sterger , the Jets , NBC , ESPN and the NFL . As the list grows as he will get a pretty little lump sum after he retires . When will they learn to stop pushing a story without proof .
