NFL Week Four Open Thread
Alright, ladies and gentlemen. . .we know that the Vikings aren't playing today (BOOOOOOOOOOO), but there are a lot of solid NFL match-ups this week, like the Steelers taking on the Ravens, which is where I think my eyes will be this afternoon when they're not on the Red Zone Channel.
In NFC North action, the Lions travel to Green Bay to take on the Packers, while the Bears will take on the Giants on Sunday Night Football in the Big Apple.
So, if you'd like to discuss today's NFL action with your fellow Vikings fans, feel free to do so right here!

Yeah
Wish the NFL could have given us three gimmes in our first four games like the Packers got. Hell, the Packers would have had four gimmes if their defense wasn’t undisciplined junk from top to bottom.

Someone get injured please (not career threatening but just for the season)
Trust me...I am a doctor.
Megatron is a BEAST!!!
Jared Allen is to football what Jason Voorhees is to Lake Crystal.
Percy Harvin is Devin Hester, except someone very smart decided to teach him how to catch and run routes.
Contrast
Detroit last week against us – 10 points
Detroit in one half against Green Bay – 14 points
Megatron last week against us – 6 catches, 56 yards, 0 touchdowns
Megatron in one half against Green Bay – 5 catches, 72 yards, 2 touchdowns

Found them:
Q3 against Broncos
33 yds rushing, 9 yds receiving and wait for it….1 fumble.
Trust me...I am a doctor.
gb-detroit game
it’s a close one and they show all three of rodgers td passes and nothing about the lions. way to homer the packers even more fox
Green Bay's defense
Doesn’t scare anybody. Nor should it.
Then again, as long as Charles Woodson is allowed to keep fielding ground balls and returning them for touchdowns, that might be different.

It’s just embarrassing. There’s no reason our pass defense shouldn’t be a whole better than it is. Woodson and Collins are all-pro players, and Williams has been excellent this year as a starter. Hell, even the pass rush looks better. Yet, the pass defense is still just awful. We might as well not even line up on third down. Everybody knows the other team is going to get it.

I don't know what is worse:
Woodson getting the Int to TD record or Sharper getting there?
Trust me...I am a doctor.
Rodgers gets picked twice in 2 minutes and they say
a rare one from Rodgers…blah blah
Trust me...I am a doctor.
Jordy Nelson?
More like LOLdy Nelson.

Man if they had not turned the dam ball over so many time they would have won that game. To bad we could use the help.
it is better to be thought of as dumb then to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

Saints win fugly again!
NO could conceivably be 0-4 but as they say, a wins a win.
Why is it the lions were so close to beating the fudge i mean they owned them in the 2nd half and MRS rodgers looked like shit and all BSPN is doing is showing MRS rodgers 3 tds not his INT’S 2 and woodsons BULLSHIT INT, and saying how good they looked!!!! I mean they were that close to a big fat L . And when we beat them last week it was god the vikings bearly won that one and how bad we looked!!! Last time I checked we beat them by 14 and held them to 10!!! I just dont get it the pack looked like shit alomost lost should of lost , hey a wins a win but the pack is not the football god of a team that BSPN thinks they are THAT PISSES ME OFF F**K GREEN BAY!!!!!
Chill out man. Anyone who knows anything about football knows that GB looked terrible today.

A quick review :
I said that if the Pack play within three of Detroit . We will be back in the hunt . And all before we get healthy . 85% healthy and we would win out with the looks of the competition ahead .
First and more importantly . I was checking out Sonie for ya . I only saw the second half . He gave up the opponents first score in a mismatch as he was playing up . And at LCB . That was the only mistake he made the rest of the game . He came back on his next defensive series and had a sweet break up in the end zone . He had to make up a lot of ground but pulled it out with some nice on field speed . He is a good run stopper . Nice cutoffs to the ball carrier . They mentioned his name a few times . Great progression individually . He wouldn’t agree with the praise . They were playing a much weaker opponent record wise . And held a 7-0 lead at half . And finished in a close fashion as a team . Both Offenses put up good numbers . His defense gave up over 150 + on the ground .
Back to the Pack . I said before that injuries will effect your teams performance . It is a mild shock that Aaron is only averaging 250 . I thought maybe just over 300+ . Kuhn won’t drive in the fourth for long . Proof that Jackson is not a good sub for Grant . As it gets cold . The lack of a run game can cost you maybe two wins at home and two on the East Coast . The Pack was giving up way too many yards to feel good about . You showed good patience my fair enemy . As Brett threw his what I will call uncharacteristic INTs in the Minnesota scheme . Rodgers was quite uncharacteristic himself today . A shock . He looked like the bad Brett of old . Forcing the ball . Your defense truely has dropped behind the O-line in injuries and non production . The soft part of your schedule has ended . Get ready to see what your wounded dogs are made of . Last year they woke up against tougher opponents by about week 5-6 . But that might have had to do with the healthy new defense . As we get even healthier this off week . I see a remainder of the true leader of the conference . The Bears can’t hope for opponents 18 penalties every week . They will be done too without a real run game . My Vikes are using a new control style defense . If we pick Aaron twice it will be over . You couldn’t handle the rookie runningback that we held to 30+ yards . Peterson will own your secondary if you rush 6-7 guys like you did today . I am concerned about the Jets trying to thump Brett . If he comes out of that game healthy . It will be business as usual in GB ! Good luck on the East Coast . You better rest some guys . You are looking a bit thin ?
Cools, thanks for checking him out for him. Yeah, he’s got pretty amazing speed and quickness. It’s ashame he didn’t end up being a little taller. I know lots of the big time schools shied away from him because of his size. That’s good to hear that he seems to be progressing well though. Thanks again, it’s appreciated.
Yes, I think getting a new running back is necessary. Kuhn and Jackson are both underwhelming as featured backs. And really, Grant isn’t the long term answer either. I think it’d be worth it to give up a 2nd or 3rd for a guy like Lynch. He’s proven, is a great pass catcher out of the backfield, and would instantly improve our ground game, which would result in the passing game improving as well.
I don’t know what the pick in Lions territory was about. For the life of me, I can’t figure out what he wanted Jennings to do differently there. Just looked like a poor throw too me. The other one was just bad. We shouldn’t have gone deep on the first play of the drive, and Jennings really should have brought that in after he got both hands on it. McCarthy didn’t do a good job of calling plays today what so ever. We established no rhythm, and it didn’t really seem like we ever tried too.
The pass defense worries me. We gave them the underneath stuff all day, and then didn’t make the tackles when we had a chance too.
by packallday555 on Oct 3, 2010 6:42 PM CDT up reply actions
Another problem is McCarthy goes into a play not lose mode after we get up. He did the same thing against the Eagles week 1. We get up by 14, and then it’s like he decides we’ve got to play it safe. He tries to run the ball more (to kill clock I would assume), and when we end up going 3 and out it puts more pressure on the defense and always gives them less of a rest. Though even the defense started playing pretty conservatively, as Hill had a throw underneath to Scheffler, Pettigrew, or Best at anytime he pleased.
We never seem to put teams away, which undoubtedly will end up hurting us sooner or later.

Almost a perfect day...
Had we played and won this would have been a perfect day. The other half of the perfect equation was the 49ers loss to the Falcons to go 0-4. I can smell the aroma of rotting fish coming all the way from the bay. Anyone here up for a Mike Singletary countdown (to his firing)?
8 sacks on Cutler in the first half!!???
did I hear that right? hahahahaha…

Jay Cutler Pinata
So what is the NFL record for sacks in a game? Because I think the Giants are on a pace to break it at Jay Cutler’s expense.
by Midnight Rambler on Oct 3, 2010 8:50 PM CDT reply actions
wow.
Halftime at the Bears game… and they let the clock run out without trying to run another play.
There’s a team that has no confidence in their offense.

Thank you Answers.com
As of the start of the 2008 season, the most sacks in an NFL game by a team is 12 and has been done 4 times:
1) Dallas Cowboys vs Pittsburgh in 1966
2) St. Louis Cardinals vs Baltimore in 1980
3) Chicago Bears vs Detroit in 1984
4) Dallas Cowboys vs Houston in 1985

you have to believe the Bears will come out and try to stop that.
I’m not saying they will… but they have to try, right?

Lucky for the Bears,
The Giants Offense sucks too.
With 10 sacks in the 1st half, the score should be much worse than 3-0.
its almost like there was a real offense on the field
Jared Allen is to football what Jason Voorhees is to Lake Crystal.
Percy Harvin is Devin Hester, except someone very smart decided to teach him how to catch and run routes.
the bears really are awful
and the pack looked like a wagonload of crushed buttholes today. if we don’t win this division, i’m just gonna snap!!
I piss people off on a fairly regular basis. I cherish my right to speak my mind, whether I sound like an uneducated savage or not. I've never been accused of keeping what I think a secret, nor will I ever. Don't like it? I don't care.

Bears with only 111 total yards tonight…were they not the # 1 offense in the NFL coming into the game????
Thought I'd check out the Bears site . First time in months . Since their Editors are pretty bad at tossing Vike fans .
I stated that NBC questioned Cutlers concussion . With 11 minutes to go in the fourth I got a pop up saying the site was closed . Yet others still were blogging . Can’t SBNation monitor Editor Trolling . When invited to a site we should be given the same priviledge to comment . Bears fans were spitting F-Bombs left and right . I ask a simple question . As the NBC people showed how later . Why can’t SBN end the WCG site . And move on to another more educated and commiteed group . It will be months until I will ever try the site again . Please have the clowns stick all fake excuses and apologies to their own site . If I want to hear the crap . I’ll go there when they hit 8 losses this year . Maybe then they will grow up a little . But I’m not holding my breath or anything ! APC and WCG truely are the joke of SBN . Can’t you do something to end their misery Gonzo ?
This Just In...
Unable to field a quarterback after the vicious hit on Collins in the 2nd half, the Bears were forced to reach back to the 1960’s television show “Green Acres” and sign Mr. Hanie to an immediate contract. The deal was negotiated by his lawyer, Oliver Wendell Douglas. There is no immediate word on Arnold the Pig’s reaction…
