Short Memories

Seriously, Vikings fans?  Has it really come to this?  Oh man, some people have such short memories...

Remember, guys, T-Jack is the guy who couldn't hold a consistent starting job over Kelly Holcomb or Brooks Bollinger two years ago, the most good games he's ever had in a row is three, and whenever he faces a good defense (under which the Pats would certainly qualify tomorrow) he looks like a deer in the headlights (just watch the above interception in the '08 playoffs).

Then, we have a guy who did this last year:

Sure, he's hobbled, but he's played through a lot.  Sure, he's inconsistent right now, but ask any Packers fan and they can likely easily recall such stretches sprinkling his remarkable career.

Favre might be a drama queen, he might be a diva, and (deep down) he might just be a jerk.  Who knows.  But right now, he's the guy I want under center.

one difference

one little difference i noticed. favre wasn’t forced to run for his life the moment the ball touched his hands. do ya think it could be our well-coached offensive line – after another year of chilly’s “teaching”?

You give Brett favre HIGHLIGHTS

Here’s some Tavaris Jackson HIGHLIGHTS. Be fair in your videos please. :)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9yjnk9da-hA

By the way, 2010 Brett Favre may think he is 2009 Brett Favre, but is he performing it? As a coach, you want whats best for you team. For the past 2 weeks, putting favre behind center may have been put under question by you guys. Favre is not helping you guys win now, and I think he needs a break of some kind. Give TJ a shot. See what he can do.

I’ll take 11 players with heart on the field over 11 guys with just talent. Talent is fleeting, it goes away over time. Heart is what drives you to be better. To push yourself beyond what you think your capabilities are. To show us that when you strive, all things are possible.- SMP

These players, a lot of other people didn't believe in them, but they believe in themselves. And that is all that matters."- Bill Belichick

Do you have an auto-tune highlight video of Favre's great plays this year : )

Maybe I should compile all of Favre’s turnovers this year and set it to Jay-Z’s DOA (death of auto-tune) for irony’s sake. Seriously though, Favre was great last year and Vikings fans will always appreciate that season, but the NFL is a what have you done for me lately league and Favre either needs to start playing like last year or let TJ have a shot. Whatever happens at QB I want to see some wins.

Don't we all

Its a coaches decision. Who is the best QB this week for a win. Lets hope and trust the staff to make the right decision. I have to believe a healthy Tavaris is better than a hurt Farve No matter what Brett says.

I agree with you.

I think a healthy TJ is the way to go this week but I’m pretty sure Favre will get the start anyways. If that is the case I hope he plays well.

Hey CV

I know this is off topic but check out this Stanzi kid from the University of Iowa. He appears to be the kind of QB that could run the West Coast offense. He seems to have improved his defensive reading skill this year. His passing efficiency is off the chart. Thought you might be interested in keeping an eye on him.

Thanks LLV.

I don’t watch a ton of College football outside of bowl season usually, but the last few years I’ve begun to try and watch more so I can get a better idea of which prospects are the real deal at the NFL level. I mainly try and evaluate just the QBs and RBs as they seem to be the only positions where I can notice if they have NFL skill or not.

I’ll start checking Stanzi out some more as I’ve only seen a few highlights so far. Even though I like TJ and Webb I do still think we’re going to draft a QB in the first three rounds next year so I’ll start trying to decide who my favorites are. Thanks again for giving me the heads up on Stanzi as my college football knowledge is still pretty weak : )

My biased scouting report

Stanzi is a product of how good his team is. Stanzi has a very good and big O-Line, his long ball is weak, his short ball isn’t anything special. And he can be erratic.

Favre is our QB period...

CanadianViking..this is not the CFL.Brett Favre has won more games than any other QB that has played the game. You sound like you are from Toronto, you say one thing and then try to cover up what you say with a just in case phrase. Are you in politics?Stop being a kid and be a man stick to what you say or BS yourself and have a great life in politics. You make Canadians sound like we are just plain stupid!

by Bogan on Oct 31, 2010 9:19 AM CDT reply actions

Not from Toronto or in politics : )

I’m from the east coast and I’ve been consistent in my position on QB for a long time around here. I’ve always said that when Favre’s healthy he’s better than Jackson. This year Favre hasn’t been healthy and I’ve consistently criticized him for his bad play. I’ve also said that I think a healthy Jackson gives us our best chance to win this week. The only thing I’ve said that might be a “cover up” phrase is that I hope whoever starts plays well so sorry about cheering for the Vikings and not an individual.

As for making Canadians sound stupid I’ll leave that in your capable hands : ) I’ve received many compliments on this site from football fans who think I make good clear points and I usually admit when I’m wrong about something. I think you’re mistaking me being respectful to both pro-Favre and anti-Favre people as waffling. I’ve made my position clear to both sides but I’ve tried to do it without pissing anybody off because Favre arguments drag on for a long time. Read some more of my comments and I think you’ll see I stick by my opinions and try to back them up with facts.

CV youv’e said nothing wrong I have no dought you are a true Vikings fan and my take to who ever the QB is its moot as long as we get the win in Viking country thats all that matters SKOL!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks cali.

Just want to see a win also! AD all day!

Wait...

So by posting the video of Tjack getting knocked down by a very good defensive player while trying to prevent a touchdown, you are implying that he sucks?

How many pick-6’s has Favre thrown, I don’t see any of those videos here.

Look, we are not saying Tjack is better than Favre, that would be silly. What we are saying is that he is likely a better option for the next few games so old man Favre can get a little more healthy.

Do we really want to go into the playoffs with Favre hobbled? No. We need him to be healthy or we go nowhere.
