Minnesota Vikings Acquire Randy Moss From New England Patriots
According to a ton of different sources, including ESPN's Adam Schefter, Fox Sports' Jay Glazer, and NFL Network's Michael Lombardi, the trade that was the source of much rumor mongering and discussion last night and into the wee hours of the morning is official.
The Minnesota Vikings will send their third round pick in the 2011 NFL Draft to the New England Patriots. In return. . .the Prodigal Freak returns to where it all began.
Welcome home, Randy Moss.
We may. . .may, I say. . .have more on this throughout the course of the day. I'm thinking we probably will, but hey, you never know. . .something bigger might come up.
Or not.

What a lineup
Favre, how’s that ankle?
Looks pretty good, seeing as your jumping up and down all over your house.
I hope he doesn’t hurt himself.
Pirates, Vikings, Hokies. I'm used to heartbreak. At least I have the Penguins....

Trying to get this straight in my head
I know he is a fantastic WR But I remember the first time…….
and he will prolly not be here next year, I would imagine he wants to test the free agency market.

Our own Pro-Bowl team.
Favre. Moss. AP. Rice. Shiancoe. Keep on namin’, the list goes on. Thank you, Zygi!!!!!!
Hutch, McKinnie
It’s like Madden come to life.
"A parent's only as good as their dumbest kid. If one wins a Nobel Prize but the other gets robbed by a hooker, you failed."
he was a pro bowler last year.
I’ve ripped big Mack too but he was only bad against the Bears and Panthers last year. 2 bad games when he had ankle spurs.
Favre: It's rare to ever see a QB be so indecisive, waffle...
It's also unlikely to have one start 19 consecutive seasons.
He wasent terrible
Give me a break. He certanly has his bad days, but he is better than most starting LTs in the NFL.
Anyone can make the Pro Bowl? Not so much.
Favre: It's rare to ever see a QB be so indecisive, waffle...
It's also unlikely to have one start 19 consecutive seasons.
It’s sort of funny to go back and review the impact of trading Moss to the Raiders. They used that pick—#7 overall in 2005—to take Troy Williamson. They used a #2 pick on Sidney Rice in 2007. They backed up the money truck for Bernard F’n Berrian. They tired to do it again for TJ Housh before he saved them from themselves. Then they almost overpaid for a VJack rental before AJ Smith saved them from themselves. Now it’s come full circle.
Zygi wants this SB win bad.
Lets go get it! With Moss then later on, Rice on the field. I don’t see any team defending both of them, plus Harvin, Shaincoe, dump offs to AD.
i know but they start their first playoff game today but
the focus is on the vikings and randy moss

I think Moss will stay here
He was looking for an extension out of NE. He’s looking for somewhere to rest his hat for his last days of playing football. The question is, after Favre goes bye bye, what is he going to want to do? I don’t see very many premier WR’s with aspirations of hitting the hall wanting to play for TJ.
It's a lot easier to love the Vikings when they win...
Not sure he will stay
for the exact reasons you stated. Depends on if we get a real QB. I think he will try out the FA market.
I know he is a freak but I cant help but remember all the crap that he pulled while here. I know then he was a kid and now is 33 and should be more mature.
Hope he keeps a good attitude and has some of the purple glory from before

I thought the delay was reported to be waiting for Moss to agree to an extention
by Breaking Ankles on Oct 6, 2010 8:40 AM CDT up reply actions
No extention
just a deal for a trade we will pick up the last 13 games of his contract (plus any and all playoff and SB games)

Huh.
Seems strange because Moss indicated he was pissed for not getting an extention with the Pats.

There has to be a wink and a nod in this thing somewhere
also Moss has always wanted to play with Favre. plus Zigy has a history of opening up the checkbook for good players

Just hope it isn't a wink
without the nod. He could just walk – would the Vikings get the 3rd rounder that the Pats would have recieved if he decides to become a free agent?
by Breaking Ankles on Oct 6, 2010 8:53 AM CDT up reply actions
doesn't sound like it
If he walks we just gave up a third rounder for 13+ games with Moss——kind of seems expensive almost remindes me of Hershal Walker

Let me help .
He probably has the contract sitting in wait . If the collective bargaining fails . Moss will be available as an uncontracted player for2011 . In the event of a lockout . Then when the Collective is ratified he can resume under the new pre-agreed apon contract .

As far as T-Jack is concerned...
We all saw what Dante Culpepper reverted to after Randy “The Freak” Moss left for oakland. Randy would turn any QB into a Pro Bowl caliber QB, when he decides to play that is. I think the days of him “Playing when he wants to play” are behind him. I say throw Webb out there next year and let him throw it up to Sid “The Kid” Rice & Randy “Check out my fro” Moss and $20 he makes the pro bowl. The Vikes after Sidney comes back are officially SCARY GOOD. SKOL OLD SKOOL VIKES.
Not fair to Pep . He was still productive until the knee exploded in three places at once .

Doesn’t sound so bad now does it!? Woooooooo!!!
That's what we needed to do!
Exactly what we needed to do this season! Now we just need to get him ramped up and on the field! Just send him on go routes for the entire Jets game! He can handle those without learning the entire playbook!
Revis is having nightmares again. Might not be able to play.

The question now is
how fast will Citrus be able to get 84 jerseys in stock???
Bears vs. Vikings Tickets - $150
Beer and food for 24 tailgate bus trip - More than $150
Watching Jared Allen destroy Jay Cutler LIVE - Priceless!!!!
SKOL Vikings!!!!
I e-mailed my guy
at 3am
as soon as I heard about this..
stating, I wanted one if this trade becomes true! FYI
haha he’s prolly like wow… this guy doesn’t wait around…
I think I’m going to go the extra and get the 50 year patch as well if it ends up being a special order.
Finally....
I am dusting off my old 84 jersey already. I was afraid I would never have the same joy when wearing it. Thanks for proving me wrong Zygi!!!!!!!!!!
I kept my old one
I was seriously just about to turn it to rags. But now i have a reason to re-add it to my wardrobe. Awesome!
My question is..
I wonder how Giggity Favre is..
He’s probably doing the Quagmire Giggity Woodchuck all over his place..
Giggity giggity giggity giggity all over the place! haha
Imagine how much the value of my authentic Moss rookie ball just went up .
To think . I considered selling it if the Patriots won the perfect SuperBowl . Then the Viking Gods stepped in and set me straight !

This is ...
… awesome.
I don’t know what will happen, but damn things just got a lot more interesting.
Imagine when Sidney Rice lines up with Moss. Harvin there as well. And Berrian on the sidelines a spectator. And if Favre wants, he can still toss it to Shiancoe or dump it off AP.
We could be scary good, but at least this makes for an interesting year.
I wonder if this means Rice will not be back?
could this be an indication of the real condition of Rice?

I doubt it...
… says anything about Rice. I think they might make this deal if Rice was healthy.
We already knew Rice was out for at least another 3 weeks. We have a tough schedule and this gives us a better chance to win those games. If we miss Rice for the first 7-8 games, and we are say 3-4, 3-5, 2-6… it might be too late for Rice to get us to the playoffs.
Now, we can hopefully go say 5-3, and then get Rice back… then we have a winning record and a chance to get scary good.
It might also make it possible to not push Rice’s return too much, so that we know he is healthy.
by HammeroftheGods on Oct 6, 2010 9:34 AM CDT up reply actions
Or, Berrian will finally just go away.......
I think this means Rice will now come back. My fear was that Rice was going to get shut down for the season when the playoff picture looked bleak around week 8. Now that we have a legit receiving threat, the next few games should be a little easier. AP has been putting up great numbers without a passing game, just think of the possibilities now. I just hope we don’t go back to the 2:1 pass to run ratio.
His rahab is doing fine . He hasn't had a setback yet . And he saw his Colorado doctors on Monday and was given the thumbsup .
You need to be asking if Berrian and a pick to San Diego is still on for Vincent Jackson . Hell if you think Sidney can’t play we will take them both there Debbie !
by gothicpurple on Oct 6, 2010 10:16 AM CDT up reply actions
I predict...
we’ll know something more concrete about Rice once we get to week 5-7. They seldom say anything but optimistic stuff until you get to the point where he is eligible to come back. Not hearing anything bad is good news, but it still will take a few weeks to get into football shape.
I would be surprised if he is back before week 8, but who knows? Week 8 with Rice+Moss+Harvin… would be devastating.

I can't get this shit eating grin off my face. Welcome home Randy.
I’m happier than a dike in a hardware store.
bitchy packer fans
I don’t get why Moss would want this
To leave one of the better run organizations in football where he played with arguably the top QB and coach for a one year shot with a QB who suddenly looks his age and a coach who isn’t even good enough to control his team. Say the Vikings don’t win it all, Favre retires, and TarVar or some rookie is the starting QB, does Moss start whining again? This guy has already whined his way off of three teams.
"It’s not arrogance, it’s destiny." -RKO
It could be worse . He could have gone to GB . Driver would have left them . They have no run game . The Defense looks like swiss cheese and it has only been 4 weeks . And he would have been stuck with Aaron " Still chasin' Brett's ghost " Rodgers .
And still would be going into the Hall a Viking ! Cause he is that damn good !
by gothicpurple on Oct 6, 2010 10:21 AM CDT up reply actions
We got moss just in case Rice isnt back to pro bowl form
we will be fine we needed moss so we can win the remaining of our games without rice and its gonna take 3 weeks for rice to get healthy. Once we hit the playoffss we should have a !00% rice. Plus we did the deal because our defense is finally stable, our secondary is improvedd. Abdullah FTW he reenergized madieu williams too when i watched the game.
We need a stadium
do not let Zygi money and hard work go to waste, we need a damnn stadiummm, for ZYGGII
no kidding
This man has done EVERYTHING possible to give us what we want. It’s about time we return the favor.
It would be almost impossible
for the legislature to deny a stadium now. Zygi has proven he is willing to do what is required to win so the legislature will get the hell kicked out of them if they dont do something!

is going to be a good story for the year. I hope it doesn’t work out for one game… (need I say which one.) Other than that, definitely good luck guys. When you get Sid back, thats going to be a serious 1-2 punch with Harvin uppercuts and AP hay-makers! Gotta love it.

This is just what Favre needed to get him fired up. I personally did a jig this morning, but my knees almost touched the ground, and that would be wrong. Welcome home Randy – see you in the end zone!
I'm so excited for Monday.
My only hope is that Randy absolutely refuses to talk to reporters, as you KNOW he’d be bombarded with questions about his run-ins in his first go-round and he plays MUCH MUCH better when he feels he’s being respected. Don’t want anyone to mess this up with a comment attempting to get a rise out of him.
SKOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
P.S. Third rounder!!!! Nice!
WELCOME HOME, FREAK! :)
Whodathunk it? Well, some of our DN’ers were thinkin’ the unthinkable, and those good waves might have had something to do with it :)

Also
Remember how well Randy usually plays when someone pisses him off? He had a chip on his shoulder his Rookie year and his first year with the Pats. Can’t wait. Can’t wait at all. He’s going to be a man possessed against the Pats on Halloween.
WELCOME BACK, FREAK!
To all those who said I was crazy to think hoodie would trade him...
Who is crazy now?
Randy Moss…. I need to go dig out my old Moss jersey.
Digging through the closet
I still have my authentic Randy Moss Vikings bobble head. Do you supposed he’ll be #84? It appears to be available.
In the Greatest of Ironies . I stepped back onto WCG's site with a mere 18 posts (Randy's old number)
And left to wake up to a ban from the WCG boys . That KEV H. Is one lieing ass . A few short comments . And one embarassed and frustrated Thomas the Train later and ….Pow!! They had a request changes section posted . I merely suggested that the site use their preconcieved rules to accompany all that view the site . As many are uncomfortable going to sites that only want one sided commentary .
Gonzo , Ted, LLV and even Grumps and PAD555 . Go read my comments for last night to Kev H. and TT and tell me in your harshest way possible that I am wrong to assume that WCG is fair in banning opposing bloggers . They had a subject on Moss . And I started and stopped in what seemed to be a mild mannor . To mine or others standards . Check it out . This is a real good sign for things to come . As APC and WCG refuse to deal with the DN fans . Not DN of course . I’m sure KEV H. will be allowed to come here and be twice as bold . But that was my point . Here they can voice opposing views . While the hypocrits can’t evolve at their own sites . Poor Journalistic integrity I suppose !
Don't feel bad for the Twinks....
Nobody under 50 cares about baseball, anyway. If MLB would get their act together and make it a more exciting game (not sure what they could do—-shorten the games, shorten the time between pitches perhaps?)

Congrats on this move. As a Giants fan that lives in New England listening to sports radio has been ridiculous since Moss got here. They love him, they hate him. Nothing makes me smile more than getting to hear these bandwagon jumpers in New England have to eat crow or humble pie. Now they get to see how important Moss was to Brady now that he’s not here anymore. Good luck to your team going forward. Things in the NFC just got a lot more interesting.
