I don't know who you think you are judging people loyalties here but you seem to want to have a shootout with a guy who would blow you out of the water on loyalty. You make comments and expect to be heard but, don't act like you are the one true fan, the only one who has legit questions about where this season has gone so far. I don't take kindly to your comments that labeled me and others in my camp of thinking, ship jumpers and unloyal. I've been around this franchise born and bred in Minnesota. Grew up with the Vikings on our car radio every Sunday. In my youth seeing and loving their cool Helmets and knowing that this is "my team" . As I got older I would watch not knowing much about the game at the ages of 4-8 but I watched. When we were in the playoffs heading to face KC in the Super Bowl, I was totally hooked and from then on could never missed a game. Snuck a transitor radio to Sunday night church so me and my bud could sneak out to the bathroom and listen to the end of the Packers game. ( where was that forementioned SB played NM-off the top? no research, just off the top.) I know and so do some of those other older guys you insulted.Take a seat, read and think B4 you comment!
Anyway that Super Bowl season hooked me for life. You got a lot of the older fans hair up, NMVike. Without thought or no cause, make me and other like me to be jumping ship and unloyal. Screw you! I spoke with a couple of those other 50 plus guys who unlike you, know what that 50th anniversary patch means and they were not pleased with your attitude. It means the history of a team we grew up with. Some adopted the Vikes. Others of us grew up in the shadow of the Vikings and dreamed of going to a game since B4 you were a gleem in Daddy's eye. Either way, life long fans who never waivered through every Super Bowl, Les Steckel, numerous NFC title games. Yet you, in your massive 25 years as a fan seem fit to call our views of causious optomism this last game, as turncoats. Who the H- E double toothpicks do you think you are? God's senior ambassador to the Vikings fan base?
Here is why I am a loyal fan, as if I have to defend - I remember a season my Dad buying pre-season tickets to a Miami game. That is what this ship jumpers only birthday wish! Later my best friends Dad won tickets to what is labeled one of the top 10 games in Vikings history. Vikings face Unitis and the defending Champion Colts. The Dads couldn't go but we convinced them to drop off two 12 year old kids and not give the tickets away. We were offered 100.00 for the pair ( alot back then) No way! It was amazing! We begged his Dad not to give us the tickets and were dropped of to see the game of the year which turned out to be one of the best in Vikings History. Early in college we came home with a couple other Minn. guys. One stood in line 3 hours to get playoff tickets to see the Vikes face Hart and Metcalf and St.Louis Cardinals (yah, St. Louis Kiddo) on a snowy freezing day. Vikes kicked butt. I was there NMViking! Where were you? Not born yet? We were fans long B4 and suffered more and more important, lived the thrills of the ride. Four Super Bowls. We didn't jump ship and you think we jumped ship over the AZ game? Com'on Man! I knew my team. It was MY home team, The Minnesota Vikings! It was in my blood, my heart , my sports fan soul. No other team rated above them and I grew up hating whoever was our next opponent. Who was I going to jump to, NM? I sat at laughed at releatives on Moms side who were Packer fans as we beat their butts year after year. Nope, didn't jump over there. No way. Couldn't pay me to cheer for another team. I savored rubbing it in to my Uncles.
I read your stuff and others stuff. I let all fans here have an opinion and respect it. You see, my view is not the only view. If I see something I disagree with I try to digest what I can learn but, I never call out a fans loyalty. (maybe the BF groupees) but I'll let that issue hang awhile and judge their loyalty after Favre. But, not til then. YOU, NMVike, see opinions contrary to your view or warrented worries about the teams progress, as being unloyal, back stabbing, ship jumpers. I try to see someones side in a blog and I take it as opinion warrented. I respect it. If someone is contrary to your thoughts, then they have jumped ship, not the fan you are. You are like the new guy in the office trying to tell everyone how to run things. Your statement that people here used to be loyal fans.Dude, those people you insulted have been on DN longer than you or just as long. I was here long B4 you and no one saw me going anywhere as a fan and blogger here. I was here B4 you and still am here but you act like I jump to cheer on another team over the Vikings because I call them out. I wish our coach would. You are ingnorant and think way to highly of your position of a fan. You should be sentenced to sit around a campfire of us older dudes and listen to stories of Tark, Snead, Cuazzo , Lee, Kapp, others, watching the Purple People Eaters in their prime plug holes simalar to those great goal line stops" The Wall" made last year. A sack machine that for years dominated the NFL. Then you should sit and hear how we watched our team melt under Steckel and the glorious Second Coming of Grant to bring us out of what looked to be the end of an era for a long time. Right? Did we jumped ship. NO! We stuck with and still are with the Vikings! You better watch how you talk to people here cause myself and a few others will give you an earful of true fans in a loyalty "shoot-out"How would you put it NM "Used to be the fans here" Talking through your butt you insulted older fans who have been around the team and this site, far longer than you. Fans who have been on the "Big roller coaster" of the Vikings ride thru history. Accusing me and others who agreed with me of being unloyal? Instead of spouting mouthfuls of sheet out of your mouth, you might think of it as our precautionary approach coming from years of experience of fans. With far nore history invested in the team than you. Were you born in Minn, NM? Did you grow up there. I hope this smeer was not from a fan who has never spent more than a vacation there (no disrepect. I think thats cool you guys adopted the Vikes) Just be lamer having such judgements from someone not born to be a fan and lived it as your homes pride. The team that represents your home state. Did you save your B-day and Christmas $ with a bunch of friends to go to a game at the Met. Party there in college? Stand in line for hours to get playoff tickets? Sit on a freezing bench in snow wrapped in wool blankets and a thermos of liquid warmth at the old Met?. Did you hop in a car with your brother and friends to drive to a relatives to see a game that was blacked out and you had to drive to a place a couple hours away-just to watch a game cause there was no satalite dish that brought games into a nearby sports bar? Did you go to a Twins game as a kid and spend a couple innings under the left field bleachers so you could climb that old Vikings ship they stored under there? Just to say you were on it. Did you jump on a bus as a kid not having a cluewhere to transfer to go to a business a Vikings player was signing autographs? Get in a near fight when your son came home from Iraq and he wanted to see the Vikes play Miami down here facing some of the most obnoxious fans telling my somewhat quiet son to sit down after a cheer. Did you see this (worried sick Viking Dad endure months of wondering if his son was OK) stand up for his son and team telling the guy " Shut the F up! He fought for your right to cheer and we will stand and cheer for our team(Vikes) as much and as loud as you do for yours". It was a moment of happy reunion spent at a Vikings game on my boy's safe return. Was the 1st wish you had after one week on a death bed, 6 months in a hospital to fly home and see a Vikings game? I then saw two more the following year, one In a wheelchair, after pushing myself through the snow in a walker to get into the dome. Then waiting for a chair to get wheeled to my seat. I exhausted myself just to get in. Too much snow to use my scooter or be wheeled from the car. Did you tell your wife if I should die from this horror bury me in my Cris Carter jersey? Ask your Doctor after coming out of a coma if the Vikings won the Super Bowl? Survived all that, and I then returned home twice to see training camps and pre-season games with the opportunity to meet my teams players one on one. Did you go to your favorite spot to watch a Vikes/Steelers game.dress the halloween life size Frankenstein figure in a Viking jersey, hat and flag. Take the Steeler fan club table and decorate them with Vikings stuff the day of the game? I won't even list the array of things Viking decorating my sports room. Flags, autographed flags, helmets and photos NewMex ? Really? LOYALTY! You wanna go there with me? Be careful what fans here you challenge to a loyalty contest. That's a small part of my list. Bring on yours I'll blow you away! I'll call on others here my age to blow you away. Those who have been there from the start of Vikings history who just have reason to worry about what is going on with the franchise and the roller coaster of questions and concerns we must ride out this season. Ride out. Not jump out of. With that, no fan is above another. Just don't get into loyalty. There are folks that could prove their loyalty (and don't need to) by their knowledge of our team as it stands today or the last , 10, 20 years. But, that accusation went way out of line, kid. By the way, quit with the grammer/spelling policing. .As in your words " remember when fans here" my words to you in that would haveread- "didn't correct the grammer of a post but discussed the content of a blog without belittling and judging the level of another fans loyalty to the Vikings."
I love out of state fans and have made many friends here from out of state areas and they have followed the Vikes as kids too. We don't just blog. We write each other and a couple have become phone buddies on game day.Amazing knowledge of Vikings history. Don't blow a halo out you ass challenging any of these guys loyalty, NMVike They have more quaifications than your 25 year. (that is great NM but doesn't make you Senior. Chair of the Vikings, or DN fan base). The guys I meet here and at our local establishment and have been fans as long as I, are as real fans as I, whether they were born in Minn or not. I wrote what I did from the same insights of some of those fans who have been loyal to this team a lot longer than you. Fans who saw it all .AND remained loyal!
I took the win as what it is. A hopeful turn around but one with lingering questions of will improvement continue to grow into the team we know they are, or continue to play unmotivated 1st halfs while playing catch up football? We need to blow teams out for confidence and comfort. Playing to their level every game will result with not every close game resulting in a win. I based that on what I have seen so far - the reality. Now where do you find those of us who feel that way on this continuing dilemma as being non-loyalists? The truth is we are all believers. You chose to shoot insults. We (I) will fire back! With that, no fan is above another. Just don't get into loyalty with me or anyone here. There are folks that could prove their loyalty (and don't need to) by their knowledge of our team as it stands today or the last , 10, 20 years. But, that accusation went way out of line, kid. So if by chance we sit next to each other at a game. I will recognize your loyalty by your purple gear, your cheers, the high fives to a stranger, sometimes a hug after a huge score. It won't be judged by my above deeds or even a post that marks some pesimism or optomism. Ask the fans at Beef O Brady's in Inverness FL who the biggest Vikings fan is. They'll point me out.imediately Without any mention of my list of mass weapons of loyalty question destruction listed above.
