It's not actually over quite yet. It's 1 away.

We have 6 losses.

The magic number that dooms most seasons (unless you're playing in a cruddy division, which it should be apparent by now is not, the packers are dealing with their injuries, the Bears, while inconsistent and having fed on creampuffs, are still capable of putting up a tough performance) is 7. 10-6 is competitive for a wild card spot if nothing else.

Are we going to get there? Probably not. But don't blow things up and cash out till number 7.

Call for the firing of coaches, the benching of Favre and testing of Tarvaris, rebuilding-- after number 7. I wanted to test Tarvaris a few weeks earlier, but Arizona reminded me that anything is possible for this cantankerous old fellow we have throwing the ball. Not likely, but possible.

(Childress should go anyway after the season if he comes out of this with anything less than a superbowl, he's apparently JUST THAT BAD, but it shouldn't happen during the season until unlucky number 7.

Let's hold out hopes for another week. Sure, disappointment is probable, but we're well practiced at taking it in Viking land. It's not the end of the world.

Or don't. Give up prematurely if you want to. If you can't take it anymore, I suppose you can't. But I think it's worth hoping for a while yet. It's not supposed to be likely. That's the very thing that renders it so sweet if it does happen
