I had those words in mind from "Remember The Titans" when the kid stood up to challenge his team after a win against an inferior foe.
Fact: We still started out as before. A slow 1st half, failing to pin the the opposition down.
Fact: Despite some changes the 1st half was still unimaginative and uninspired.
Fact: It took us til the 2nd half to get something on offense rolling.
Fact: AD not running the ball more is not the problem. It is telegraphing plays and not mixing things up earlier in the game. If I can call the play we are running an experienced D coordinator can't?
Fact: We are basicly 1-4 in games we could have won but failed to execute a good 1st half game plan (Chilly)
Fact: Chilly is still rocking the ship. Makes a stupid "joke": about Favre needing a hug in a post game press conference which all but nulified his comments about the whole team contributing.
Fact: Favre is running the offense in the 2nd half - not Bevell and certainly not Chilly. Difference -Bevell lets him and trusts him. Chilly is grinding his teeth cause he knows it is the right thing and can't put his ego aside and say " I am fortunate to have a QB on the field that sees things I can't and makes adjustments He makes me lokk better and the whole team is better for it That humble attitude would endear you more to the fans and admit, as I once heard, " I am smart enough to know when I am not as smart as evryone around me" For Chily that realization and statement might, MIGHT, be the thing that wins you back your team and some fans. It just won't happen will it Brad?
Fact: Once again we almost lost trying to come back in the 2nd half. Do ya;ll remember the score with a little over 3 minutes to spare?
So why is Chillys job secure? Cause Wifly is afraid to pull the trigger on this consistant idiocy and secure a coach that has had numerous NFL head coaching interviews and is still the target of teams seeking a coaching change?
All this win proves is we can win the same type of game against a weaker opponent. I will give our D credit for making a vast improvement. Thanks to them, this game would never have gotten to overtime -WEWOULD HAVE LOST -again
