New York Giants At Minnesota Vikings At Detroit Via Kansas City And Minneapolis - Second Half Thread
One half of football and this week can officially be over. This team NEEDS to get something going on offense other than "let's hope Eli throws another pick and we can have a short field."
It's not totally out of reach or anything yet, but it's not exactly close at this point, either.

INT analysis
Bad footwork, and the most important thing is that Jackson did not see Bullock.
A lot of otherwise great quarterbacks have washed up because of lack of great eyesight. Just a genetic luck of the draw thing.
Brett's gonna have to start next monday now
TJ is so bad it’s funny
To be fair...
It wasn’t a Jackson Jumper™. He was on his feet. It was just an awful, awful throw.
The throw was fine
The decision to throw in there was terrible.
WR, CB, K & P of the Minnesota Machine
Sadly, you're right. It was a solid throw, he just shouldn't have thrown it there.

Jackson
He is under a lot of pressure. The running game is nothing right now.
We are asking Jackson to become a Dan Marino. He just isn’t that guy. He can’t carry a team. I still think he’s worth keeping as a backup.
Not saying he's not a decent back up
but He should not be anywhere near the start

In either case. he's not getting the support he needs from the OLine. He can't carry the team. BUT THEY need to put him in
position to play.

NO, an offensive line. Matt Ryan would suck if his line was the VIkings line.

I’m hardly writing Frazier off because of this showing. This has been a crazy week.

But it’s hard for me to put this all on Jackson. No one on the offense has looked very good at all except for maybe a few flashes from Rice early.

there's a texans/ravens game on
about as exciting.
horrible for my FFB team.
Unsuccessful first series for Webb
No first down.
On the good side, he got the 1st down pass out very quickly. It was batted down, unfortunately. On the 3rd down screen pass, he threw the ball with very nice touch.
He appears to have more potential than Jackson at quarterback.
So why are we switching him to WR again?
Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, we're vikings. gotta keep it interesting.

Positive thought...
Greenway is still a beast…. love that guys determination
looking forward to a healthy Cedric, Cook, Hutch, Percy, Herrera,
and a declared starting QB at the end of the draft
I don't care what anyone has to say...
When Leslie Frazier became the interim head coach of the Minnesota Vikings, he was asked if Favre was going to start. He went on to say that, yes, he will be our starting QB because he gives us the best chance to win. Many people disregarded what he had to say but his words speak highly during this game tonight.
TJack is clearly not the answer at QB. He can’t make the simplest of throws, and although he hasn’t had much help from the OLine, either did Favre, yet Favre made plays. Joe Webb is an exception since he hasn’t had much time with the first team offense, although he’ll be back, just not at the QB position.
Brett Favre will be missed and is already missed as a member of the Vikings starting offense. His grittiness, determination, stubborness, indecisiveness and whatever else -ness you want to add to the list, is something that very few people have, especially for 20 years. He’s a first ballot hall of famer and even though I’m not sad to see the drama go with the streak, I’m definitely disappointed to see Brett go, not only as a Viking, but a player in the National Football League.

He’s a better runner and passer than Michael Vic, who is tearing it up this year.
The Colorado Rockies aren't a team, they're an armada.
Yes, he is
My college team is South Carolina, we played him twice. When it would get to 3rd and less than 4 or 5, the mentality was “Screw it, he’s getting a first down, let’s just try to keep him from taking it to the house.”
The Colorado Rockies aren't a team, they're an armada.
yeah but...
We are wayyyyy down on the list, at least 7 teams are in front of us and they all need a QB
by midnightwonder on Dec 13, 2010 9:53 PM CST up reply actions
There are plenty of teams in front of us that don't need a QB
Detroit, Dallas, and Denver to name 3
The Colorado Rockies aren't a team, they're an armada.
your right about Detroit...
but Dallas wants a better back up for Romo, and Denver knows that Orton is not their future,
Carolina, Washington, San Fran, Arizona, Seattle and maybe Cleveland and Cincy. (have your seen how bad Carson Palmer is playing)
by midnightwonder on Dec 13, 2010 10:05 PM CST up reply actions
Dallas isn't drafting a backup for Romo in the first round
And Denver has their future in Tebow. A lot of those other teams have bigger needs than QB, which they will address in the first round.
The Colorado Rockies aren't a team, they're an armada.
Maybe right about Dallas...
but Tebow was a McDaniels pick and he’s not there anymore

Whoever they have at quarterback we will get.
No to free agency I hope.

Gotta get a GM who can identify a worthy QB prospect, and a coach somewhere on the staff who can then develop him. I like Frazier as a person, but because of the dire straights QB situation, I’m not sure if this is the right job for him.
Otherwise, they could always sign Marc Bulger or something, I guess.
They’re currently sitting in the 8-13 range. Get out those scouting notebooks for Cam Newton in the championship game, I guess.
Against Oregon's defense?
That’s not going to be a fair evaluation. That game is gonna be in the 65-70 range.

True. Look at the Lions. They drafted a good quarterback, but now he gets injured all the time.

Our O-Line needs to man up
No pass protection, no lanes to run through, the damn center can’t snap the ball, how many false starts did we have?
"Skol Vikings! Let's win this game Skol Vikings!
to be fair
jackson just plain missed one of those snaps
Yeah, they're a huge part of the problem lately
This year they’ve been given too many free passes…they’ve been pretty inconsistent this past year or so. I think we should grab a QB first, then another O-line guy or two. Then Secondary guys…tons of them.
It'll be nice
To have CGriffin back next year. He was playing at a high level and would have help tremendously had he not suffered another ACL tear.
Yep
Like we saw the last couple of years when all the pressure was on TJ, he failed. You saw him have a great game last week when we established the run. That was absent tonight…not his fault.
"Skol Vikings! Let's win this game Skol Vikings!
And...
…if Cam Newton declares for the draft and he’s available for the Vikings to take, do they take him? Or do they go the route of say a Ryan Mallett?
Either!

he’ll take a pay cut coming out of Auburn.
Allegedly.

Why did we piss off Pack fans?
Does a Giants win make things tougher for them? If so, that’s at least a bright lining. :)
I think we can all agree that the Giants' MVP was Asher Allen.

we would be sooooooooooooo lucky to get Newton.

Someone's delusional
There is a HUGE difference between Joe Webb and Cam Newton.
Joe Webb sucks; Cam Newton is a once-in-a-generation talent.
The Colorado Rockies aren't a team, they're an armada.
Wow
Where does that come from? Webb is the best athlete on our team.
Not even gonna address the “once-in-a-generation” part that is so premature it’s hysterical.
That's just it
Webb is an athlete, not a quarterback, just like Antwaan Randle-El and Brad Smith.
The Colorado Rockies aren't a team, they're an armada.
we don't know enough about joe webb yet. i think you are judging him way too early.
in the future there will be no war...there will only be rollerball.
But at least those guys were taken in the later rounds
Newton’s an athlete that will likely be drafted in the first round

So who starts at QB our next probable primetime loss?
Webb or TJack?
what would be the harm?
Winning isn’t even a priority at this point. It’s just job auditions imo.

TJ Quit tonight
he’s not worth the time anymore
I retract my support for TJ
After a night of no sleep. Go with Webb. What do we have to lose?
"Skol Vikings! Let's win this game Skol Vikings!
guess we need hutch
..was it me or was the giants D always in our backfield?

We are going to move up in the draft
If this team shows up the last three games, we will be 5-11
Another disgraceful display, almost as bad as the last Green Bay loss
I think the Eagles game is a day game
Thank God
yea, he's gonna beat us like a dawg.
in the future there will be no war...there will only be rollerball.
I thik T Joke literally quit tonight.
If so, that is about right.

Well signing off for the evening...
…until next Monday in…..oh yeah, no one knows! Sleep easy Vikes fans!
Cam Newton is a project that will take at least 3 years to develop
We’re going to need someone that can play right away

Mallet is this years Leaf
"Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthend, ambition inspired, and success achieved."
-Helen Keller
Why would Newton take 3 years to develop?
He’s already a very good passer…
The Colorado Rockies aren't a team, they're an armada.
So was Tebow....in college
Just because he has decent numbers now in a college scheme, doesnt mean he’ll be a good passer in the NFL
"Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthend, ambition inspired, and success achieved."
-Helen Keller
You haven't watched Newton play, have you?
He’s a vastly superior passer to Tebow, about to break the NCAA record for pass efficiency.
The Colorado Rockies aren't a team, they're an armada.
Yes I have
And if it were only about numbers and athleticism, Newton would be the number one draft pick (or if the raiders were picking first). But its about much more than that. It is much more mental at the next level.
"Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthend, ambition inspired, and success achieved."

Let's stop praying on pipe dreams
Neither Newton, Luck or Mallet will make it to our pick. And we can’t afford to move up to get anyone of them.
by midnightwonder on Dec 13, 2010 10:08 PM CST up reply actions
If we don't get one of them
The 2011 Draft will be an abject failure, not to mention the 2011 season. I’m not sold on Mallett, but I’d sell the farm for Luck or Newton.
The Colorado Rockies aren't a team, they're an armada.
You think
3 QB’s will be taken before the, what 6th pick? 7th pick?

Luck and Mallet will likely go in the top 10
Newton mid round. Locker early 20’s

we stand at the moment...
behind
Panthers, Bengals, Lions, Bills, Broncos, Cowboys, Redskins, Browns, Titans, and Texans.

Some of those teams will still win games this season
The Vikings won’t
The Colorado Rockies aren't a team, they're an armada.
Titans and Texans maybe...
but it doesn’t matter if any of the others win we will still be behind them

Cleveland and Washington
Can also pass us with a win, and Arizona and Dallas could as well depending on tiebreakers.
The Colorado Rockies aren't a team, they're an armada.
Newton will be there

The guy from the university of San Diego?

Yup. He was a Gruden project who’s still around with the new regime and Josh Freeman.
I mean, I don’t want to give up a 2nd for him or anything like that. But if he could be available for a flier…
I don't know enough about him to really comment
But I find it hard to believe that he’s anything more than a backup
"Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthend, ambition inspired, and success achieved."

Well
This loss managed to depress me more than the GB loss
because the GB loss told me we were screwed in the short term, this loss tells me we’re screwed in the long run
Some notes I took:
-T-Jack is not an NFL QB, not even a back up
-Joe Webb is to athletic to be kept at QB
-We have the worst O-Line in football (though Herrera and Hutch being out doesn’t help, it wasn’t that good when he was in either)
-We need a FRANCHISE QB!!!! Not a second round reach, not a sixth rounder who was expected to play WR, a real QB
-Hutch has been great for us, and McKinnie has been so so, but I think it’s time we draft their replacements
