The Fifty Greatest Minnesota Vikings In Franchise History
The Vikings will be honoring the fifty greatest players in the history of their franchise during tonight's game at TCF Bank Stadium, and last night they hosted a gala event in Minneapolis to make the announcement of who those individuals were.
I'll simply give you the list here for the purposes of discussion and reminiscing. If you go to the Vikings' official site, you can get more information on them, including highlight videos, photo galleries, and other stuff.
So, with no further ado, I give you the Fifty Greatest Minnesota Vikings.

The only name that's missing
In my opinion, quite frankly, is Fred Zamberletti.
Not sure who you’d take off of the list to put him there, but I think the guy should have been recognized.

Or T. Jackson
I demand a recount! It’s been rigged! North Korea is behind it all!

Childress and T. Jackson
They are on the honorable mention list next to Les Steckel. It was very close, from what I’ve been told. They couldn’t pick everyone. It had to have been a tough call to leave those three off the list.
I still say interference by North Korea!

Or Tice! or Green!
Jeez! You’d think the Vikings have only had one good coach in the history of the franchise!!!
Oh… wait…

Glad to see Bobby Bryant on there
but Nate Wright should have made it, too. Drew Pearson haunts still.

What's the criteria?
I love all the names up on the list, but there’s a slew of guys who wore the Purple and Gold who were truly great, but aren’t on the list.
Did he have to start on the Vikings? Did he have to spend the majority of his career on the Vikings? What percentage?
Where’s Warren Moon? Nate Wright was surely better than Sharockman. Favre and Cunningham gave the Vikings arguably two of the greatest 4 or 5 seasons EVER. And while I love me some C-Pep, he has no business being on the list if it means taking Joe Kapp’s spot.
Ah, ah,
We come from the land of the ice and snow,
From the midnight sun where the hot springs blow.
The hammer of the gods will drive our ships to new lands,
To fight the horde, singing and crying: Valhalla, I am coming!
SKOL!
I agree about Nate Wright
But Favre, Moon, and Cunningham had one good season each. Now, had they won a Super Bowl, I’ll listen. But I don’t think one good year doesn’t equate to ‘all time’.

No Donald Igwebuike? What a travesty!
Seriously this is a list of total Viking studs and I do agree a little with DCPurple’s comment right above. Do you think Jeff Sieman or Matt Blair or Scott Studwell would be whining about the condition of the field tonight? Hell no!

Actually,
here is a list of other who were in consideration. It is pretty interesting. http://www.vikings.com/50/greatest-vikings/index.html
Hello... Joe Kapp!!!
ya know… we need 100 slots for our 50 greatest Vikings.
RECOUNT!!!
(After all this is Minnesota dontca know? We are allowed.)

He, too......
was only on the team from 67-69. The Vikings allowed him to play his final season without a contract, a mistake Mike Lynn would have been proud of. He was traded to Boston where he finished his career in obscurity. While he probably shouldn’t be on this list, I would put him on a list of those who had the most impact on the team. That he did.
Seeing all the names in contention...
I can see how it’s pretty difficult to narrow it down to the top 50…
But Culpepper over Kapp is a travesty….

I recognize every name..
except Ed Sharockman. I guess I am younger than I realized. Not sure of his accomplishments, but, I know of Kassulke’s, who should be on the list.
Dennis Green
The man coached us to a 15-1 season … one field goal away from the superbowl …

No Hershel Walker?
What you just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your entire rambling incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Considering we gave
away 3 Super Bowls for him, they should at least try to justify the trade 20 years later by giving him a top 50 spot. That almost hurts more that he is not on this radar than the horrendous trade that we brokered to get him.

Better left forgotten...
Let us not speak of this again.

Chris Walsh
Obviously I would not expect Walsh to be on this list, mainly because he was never anything other than a special teams hero.
But where would Walsh rank among the all-time Vikings? He had a cult following and you could even find his Jersey at stores in Fargo. I submit he would be in the top 100.
+81
Remember when he had a plate put in his face and he didn’t even miss a game? That dude was one tough SOB.
Also missing from the list:
Jake Reed
Robert Griffith
Al Noga

-Helen Keller
Also Chris Hovan perhaps could be considered

my only question...
