I would just like to use this short and sweet FanPost to publicly thank the Minnesota Vikings for showing me something to be proud of tonight. Year after year, when the Vikings don't make the Superbowl (which is...let's see...carry the 1...EVERY year) I always find myself wondering how I got saddled with fanship for such a gut-wrenching, heart-breaking team. What tonight showed me was, even though we played the role of the spoiler (and against my second favorite team at that), and even though there was absolutely nothing about the 2010 season hinging on this game, I am proud to be a Viking.
The purple and gold stepped into extremely hostile territory against a team on a hot streak, a mere sniff away from a playoff bye week--having SO much more to play for--and they took a win. They took it. Separate post about my hard-on (no homo) for Joe Webb coming later.
Anyway, thank you Vikings. Thank you Leslie (and pat yourself of the back, you just locked up the HC job). If nothing else, I sit here--a die hard fan of the 6-9, stadium-less, Favre-less, nearly hopeless Minnesota Vikings--with a big ol' Christmas day grin on my face.
Mostly because my Philadelphia native stepfather is sitting in the other room setting off our smoke alarms with all the steam pouring from his ears. ;) SKOOOOOOL.
