Which teams need a quarterback as much as the Vikings? Unfortunately the answer is many of the teams with worse records than the Vikings.
Carolina (1-11) has the front row seat. Carolina is notoriously cheap and the owner might decide to go with Jimmy Claussen. However, if Harbaugh is to be his new coach the price will be Andrew Luck as the #1 pick.
Buffalo (2-10). I think last Sundays game says all that is needed about the need for a QB in Buffalo. A big armed kid like Ryan Mallet or Cam Newton can be expected here.
Cinncinati (2-10). I'm not reading many NFL scouts that think Carson Palmer has it anymore.
Vikiings ( 5-7). Yes the Vikings will have the 4th choice of QBs. This is Jake Locker or 2nd round QB type material. Risky picks ( less than 50-50 odds) at this level. I would think the front office might want to put a little time and effort into the way it approaches this draft. How far to move up? What are the costs? Is Mallet or Newton the better choice.
Of course Michael Vick will probably be available for the same price as they were paying Brett Farve. And Michael has run a West Coast Offense. And Michael is as mobile as Travaris Jackson. Of course Michael being available is only going to happen if Philly won't pay Mike 20 Million either for a franchise tag or a long term deal. That doesn't really sound like Philly to me so I think Vick will be available. Either him or Locker. We already have our risky QB project with Webb. This time we need to get the real thing or at least someone like Mallet or Newton that is rated as the real deal.
