"I don't see him out there getting hit or nothing like that. The commissioner makes $9 million, so you tell me where the balance is? He doesn't put his life on the line, he pushes a pen."

As noted by DCPurple, Ray Edwards isn't terribly pleased that he'll be a restricted rather than unrestricted free agent this offseason while Roger Goodell brings in a hefty salary for pushing a pen rather than offensive linemen.

Sorry Ray

But upper management is always going to have a hefty salary. I manage a manufacturing plant outside Dallas and don’t do a single minute of actual, physical manufacturing, but I damn sure make more than the guys who do.

Between this, calling out Brad Childress and talking about getting retribution for the hits on Favre methinks Ray should do to his mouth what he is currently doing to his body – give it a rest.

Ray

Let me say this much. If you’re unhappy with how things currently go, hit DeMaurice Smith like you did Tony Romo in the divisional round and tell him to shut up. Commish Goodell has already said under the CBA that is trying to go through, everyone will make more money. Seriously why are you guys fighting this? Shut up, all of you, get this new CBA done and play ball. Goodell earns his jack, be sure of that.

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH

I make over 3 million dollars a year for an activity most people play for fun and I want more money. The economy is bad, how am I supposed to buy new tires for my bently?….

Or something like that.

Sigh…hey Ray, this just in, the average American out of college makes about 1% of what you do. Deal with it.

Wow...glad I am not alone in feeling this way!!!

Glad I wasn’t the only one to feel like this. I saw this comment and had flashbacks to Latrell Spreewell…“I gotta feed my kids”. WAAAAAH?!?!

Dude you are an average DE who is playing for one of the best defensive lines in the league. You are probably going to make 3-4 million next year as an average player and you are pissing because the guy who runs the league makes $9 million? He’s not even the highest paid person in the NFL…there are players that clear plenty more than that…how many places in the working world is the guy who runs the business not making the most. This is a terrible attitude from him. If it was Jared Allen, maybe he can get away with it…but Ray Edwards? Really???

Don't even get me started.

Athletes salaries please. I realize these guys are the best at what they do. They should make a lot of money. I just think some of this is over the top. Average players make more in 1 or 2 years than most people make in a lifetime. Sage made what 3 mil last year holding a clipboard. 6% in a CD for 1 year is 180 thousand dollars in interest alone. I love my sports as much as the next guy. I just turn a deaf ear to guys who made a ton of money and all they want is more. I live in the Des Moines area and I do get up to see a Vikes game here & there, Twins too. I have a great time when I come but I have to plan for it because it is not cheap. I do think we are headed for a lockout because players don’t want to take a hit and owners are not making the profits they need for the amount of money invested. There should be a pay structure for players, based on level of play, years of service etc. Rookies make to much money. Ryan leaf is set for life and he is a bust. Rookies should have two years to prove what level of player & pay scale they fall into. Higher draft picks will make more at first but after 2 years they make more or less based on performance. You can allow some structure exceptions for injuries or playing time.

He doesn’t put his life on the line…

Neither do you, Ray, so shut your formula-hole.
