I have been banned
Not from this site, just from looking at it at work. They must have figured that Daily Norseman is not work related and will not allow it anymore, Dam it anyway. I enjoyed spending my breaks reading and writing (a little) to posts, so with my personal life as it is, I will be a lot less time. Oh well, I will check out when I can.
The draft: I hope the Vikes do not take a QB in the first round unless it is an amazing pick. They should pick one up but unless he is the best player at the time I think the Best CB in the first round, OG is the next pressing issue in my mind (which is not saying much) after that we seem to have a lot of depth, with the possible exception of MLB, depending upon how EJ does.
Dam work and the man! (wait I am management) Skol Vikings!

I firmly believe that we need a safety to replace Madieu. Tyrell showed, towards the end of the season, that he can be an excellent player but madieu just hasn’t quite stepped up to the show.
I want to see what Sanford can do first
I hope we draft LB or DT, but only if Dan Williams slips. For CB, I hope Kyle Wilson slips to us. We can always get a LB in the second though.

I like brinkley
As long as EJ comes back in time for the opener i think we are set at LB. Maybe a DE, it is kind of sad for Ray, JA is always getting doubled and tripled, yet close to nothing from Edwards, really dissapointing.
Do what I did and get a smartphone
That way you van get around the firewall. As for your picks OL first then CB.

modified BPA
Normally, I am a believer in drafting the BPA.
For the Vikings in 2010, however, I think they have a few immediate needs: CB, LB, and guard. Maybe safety, too. Given the constraints of free agency this year, the best way to fill those needs is to draft players in the early rounds.
Thus, in the first round, I think the Vikings should take the best available linebacker, cornerback, or guard, as long as they can come in and contribute on the field immediately.
Ditto. And honestly although I want a guard first
we are weaker (only because of injury) in CB and MLB… Plus with the first year out of the way our line might start to gel up better next season. (I hope so)
It's a lot easier to love the Vikings when they win...
I saw an interesting comment the other day.
Strong teams with a " win now" mentality should only draft for Need.
Teams in a building mode should draft BPA.
I have thought about this and just can’t agree. Every team wants to be good forever. If you have the opportunity to grab a great player then you do it. If that opportunity does not present itself you draft the BPA for the position you need. I see no other valid approach.
How could the Vikes pass on Dez Bryant this year to simply take the 3rd or 4th best CB. Some day we will need a WR. To me this is the way. I admit that Al Davis does it differently.

I kind of agree with you
Actually I totally agree with you. Playmakers on offense or defense are hard to come by and difficult to keep on your team for extended amounts of time. Also, doing this helps your team to trade aging players that while still good could benifit the team by being trade bait. With the idea of drafting a solid WR we really don’t need one (unless we go four WR’s which I don’t see) however, if we did pick one up that could theoretically start in the NFL we could trade Berrian to a team that is looking for an experienced WR and maybe pick up extra draft picks (with no real loss since we are tight at WR) or maybe pick up another position that we are weak in.
All in all they would have to really mess up the draft for me to be upset with them, or once the draft was done not react accordingly to what they have.

sorry, next post for you Grime

It's like the "coffee machine only takes ones" problem
If you need a one dollar bill for coffee and you run across that fiver which someone dropped on the floor, do you not bend over until someone drops a one there for you so you can use the machine? No, you grab the five and then trade it, even if it is to someone for four ones (if you must), after which that guy who gave you the change will either like you a lot and figure he owes you a favor in the future or he’ll think that you’re a fool and try to play poker with you some time. Either way, you come out ahead. You surely don’t walk on by and let that creep from accounting you hate come by and pick up that five after you have left it on the ground. Even Bill Gates picks up the five, though the time he spends picking it up is below his average rate of income for the time he spends in doing so. He doesn’t lose money by picking it up. He averages that much in that space of time, whether he picks up fives or not. Saints will pick up the five and try to determine who lost it, unless of course they were those New Orleans Saints, in which case they would grab the five, mug your quarterback with some cheap hits, and then claim they’re so good at football and economics.
As usual, I don't have a clue what your talking about
but if it means the Vikes are in the Super Bowl then i totally agree with you.
Plus I liked that knock on the Saints.

Ahhh the old "coffee machine only takes ones" problem....
? OK, not sure of the analogy lineage/origin (I never have worked in a place that charges a buck for a coffee – or MAYBE been gone from USA too long????), but like the gist….works for me….in my case I increase my wealth by 3 or 4x PLUS get a coffee to boot…cool!
