Dream/Possible Reality Minnesota Vikings Team of 2010
Offense:
Brett Favre
Randy Moss
Adrian Peterson
Brian Westbrook
Sidney Rice
Percy Harvin
Shincoe
I mean I would just cry when this squad stepped on the field!
But with that said, the good thing about this lineup is that we’d be set on offense so our Draft could go about 4-6 picks to defense!
Defense:
Julis Peppers or Just Ray!
Pat , Kevin, & Madieu Williams
Ej Henderson & Brinkley
Antonie Winfield
But the people I think we need an upgrade on are:
Madieu Williams & Tyrell Johnson
Ray Edwards (Yea had to think about this, Jared gets doubled team so I'd expect more)
Mckinnie (I love him and I think it'd be hard to find an upgrade for him but, It's possible)

You got my hopes up...
but they were quickly dashed. Moss could happen, i’d still take C-dog over westy. i also think that Johnson will be fine it is just madieu we need to get rid of, same goes with ray ray.
Wow, you're really taking this no salary cap thing pretty seriously
Westbrook – Probable, perhaps even likely
Moss – Possible but no indication that the Vikings are interested.
Julius Peppers – That’ll be the day. 90% chance Peppers goes to a 3-4 team IMO. 99.9% chance he goes anywhere but MN. Can’t afford him anyways, even without a salary cap.
Antonio Cromartie – I’ll indulge this fantasy a little. It’s definitely unlikely but not out of the realm of possibility given our need in the secondary, and our relatively small number of needs in the draft. If they feel there aren’t better CB options at #30, they could pull the trigger on draft day. It wouldn’t be cheap but I wanted to draft Cromartie back in ‘06 so he’s worth it in my non-influential mind. This trade would potentially allow us to move Cedric Griffin to safety, which might be better for him coming off a severe knee injury.
Would rather take teh CB from Oakland.
But he runs into the Peppers problem of overpricing the team.
It's a lot easier to love the Vikings when they win...
Upgrade on Tyrell Johnson? We used a second rounder on him and he’s young. He’s still developing. We need cornerbacks more than safeties.
In AP I trust
F-A-R-V-A =/= F-A-V-R-E

I would keep CT over BW, if he wanted to stay, of course.
As Cobra said, Peppers will go to a 3-4 team.
Ray Edwards is still the best option for us at LDE (unless someone offers a 1st and a 3rd for him, wich I highly doubt).
Cromartie, after medicineball mentioned his off the field problems, don’t interest me.
But Moss, I’ve been daydreaming about him coming back since the first speculation appearded.
SKÖL VIKINGS!
SHOW YOUR HORNS!
I second the CT over BW decision.
Westbrook is an amazing player, but with his concussion issues I doubt he will stay in the league if he has another one that could be considered “severe”.
Chester is more reliable, durable and is smarter IMHO.
Moss is intriguing, but at his age is not much better than Sidney has shown himself to be.
We already have people in our secondary who are afraid to tackle, why would we want another in Cromartie?

Moss Return--Not Happening
Regardless of the un-capped year or desirability of seeing Moss back in MN, I can’t see it happening.
The Viking organization burned their bridges with Moss when they shipped him to Oakland for Napoleon Harris and the draft pick that turned out to be Troy Williamson. (Ugh.)
Moss was a lightning rod for controversy during his time in MN, and regardless of how much criticism you think Moss actually deserved, I cannot imagine the Wilfs bringing him back. That would require both eating some crow and inviting more headaches, and I don’t think the organization is going to do those two things for a receiver who is now on the downhill side of his career.

A lightening rod of controversy?
Ok, so he bumped a meter-reader with his car, mooned packers fans, squirted a ref with a water bottle and smoked a little pot.
Who didn’t do things like that in their early twenties?
Heck, those are things I am tempted to do on almost a daily basis.

Bwahahah!
You hit that right on the head my man!

LOL!
The only thing he did back then which I personally think was way over the top was bumping the meter maid. Man, that was bottom-drawer stupid, reckless, and arrogant.
No, his real problem is that he only plays all out when he feels like it. His work ethic depends on how he feels, and I prefer more professional athletes on the Vikings. This problem might be gone by now, maybe he’s learned his lessons… and then again, maybe not.
Bottom line is that the Vikings are a great team NOW, with great chemistry; do they want to risk that by bringing the old cancer back, in the hopes that it’s been cured?
Ah, ah,
We come from the land of the ice and snow,
From the midnight sun where the hot springs blow.
The hammer of the gods will drive our ships to new lands,
To fight the horde, singing and crying: Valhalla, I am coming!
SKOL!
I think he has matures since his days here, but he still has that “work when I want to” mentality.
The thing about that is that Moss has immense respect for Brett Favre. Remember earlier in the year when Percy and Sid said: “you can’t take a play off with Brett under center, because every reciever is a potential target.”
The reason Moss takes plays off is because he knows what plays that won’t get him the ball. That and he doesn’t like to block much. But the fact that the ball could go to him on ANY play is enough to keep even Moss on his toes.
We know he will bring some of his nonsense with him, but if there is anyone who can inspire him to play it’s Brett. Randy is in love with the guy.

DREAMER
you need to have a little faith in the triangles drafting.
Nnamdi Asomugha
Hey, if we’re sticking to the dream thing I would say go get Nnamdi. Have Antoine play safety and Cromartie opposite of Nnamdi.
I don’t think Randy will come and I don’t think we really need him. Hopefully Bernard will be healthy, he really got his stuff together for that game (which shall never be mentioned again). Peppers won’t happen, but if it did…omg.
Say no to Cro and pick up Nnamdi
that man is much better than Cro, and he would instantly validate our secondary. Only problem is his price tag which is pretty rediculously high.
I wonder how Madden will handle an uncapped year…

Is Kampman an option?
"And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you!"
Probably not
Kampman is said to have spoken out in favor of dumping Favre and going with Rodgers a few years ago in the Packers organization. For that reason, I would say the chance that the Vikings sign Kampman is pretty much nil. Even if that hurdle is cleared, he would get paid a lot by the Bears or Redskins. The Vikings could only sign Kampman if they lose an unrestricted free agent of greater or equal salary. Thus, if Chester Taylor were to sign elsewhere for $5 million, we could sign Kampman for that amount. Regardless of what the figure is, the Bears or Redskins or Giants could offer more.
I believe Ray Edwards will be back in purple for the 2010 season. That is also my hope.

Last I heard Favre and Kampman were pretty good friends.
But still, I don’t see a Kampman deal happening.
Yeah, I don’t think Kampman being supportive of our team warrants the conclusion that they “are rivals” or something, and I certainly don’t think it would stop your team from trying to sign him if they had interest in him.

Nnamdi for me
He would be the best player at the most needed position

Needs in FA/Draft...
Since this whole “thread” is about dreams and such, who thinks this is totally out of the realm of possibility? Vikes resign Taylor & Edwards, trade Berrian, 2nd, 4th and Ryan Cook to Chiefs or ’Hawks for 1st rounder (cant decide who would be more willing to trade considering both have needs at WR & OL and want more picks)
Vikes take Bradford or Clausen with their pick.
Than trade their 1st (30) next years 3rd and T-Jack for Nnamdi and a 5th. (I mean come on… Al Davis loves draft picks, if Haden is still there at 8, he’ll snatch him up.)
Than we grab an OG in the 3rd, Eric Decker in the 5th, an OLB in the 5th, DT in the 6th and a Kicker in the 7th.
Starting Lineup will be as follows:
Favre,Bradford/Clausen,Rosenfels
Peterson,Taylor,Young
Kleinsasser, (cause lets face it, Tahi cant run block and cant Catch for more than a yard. Jimmy can do both and do both well)
Rice, Harvin, Johnson, Decker
Shiancoe
McKinnie
Hutchinson
Sullivan
Herrera
Loadholdt
Defense:
Edwards
Phat Pat
K-Will
Allen (Robison will rotate in and out for Edwards too)
Greenway
E.J
Leber
Winfield
Asomugha (Griffen will rotate in and out at both Cornerback Positions)
Williams
Sanford (Tyrell will rotate in and out at both Safety Positions)
Kluwe
Longwell.
We wont have any more weaknesses on either side of the ball. AP will be able to run again like he did when he was a rookie, Favre will have a Wes Welker hybrid to throw to (Decker) plus Percy and Sidney and Shiancoe, No team will be able to run against the Williams Wall, or throw against our Corners either.
Saints, prepare to play at the METRODOME!
If all of this happened, Vikes will go, 14-2. 1st round bye, Saints at Vikes in Champ. Round, Vikes play Chargers in SB. Vikes win 31-24
Quite a creative imagination you've got there
And double points for being the only person I’ve ever heard or read that said they “loved” McKinnie. How is that possible?
I don't love that fat lazy slob
but i do respect him a hell of a lot as a left tackle.
It's a lot easier to love the Vikings when they win...
OL
has to be priority to protect Purple Moses. Replace Herrera with a trade/ pick, whatever combination that gets a guy that keeps Favre upright…
