John Randle will enter the Hall of Fame
Announced today, before Super Bowl Sunday, John Randle will be enshrined in Canton, Ohio in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
The others who made it are Emmitt Smith, Jerry Rice, Floyd Little, Rickey Jackson, Russ Grimm, and Dick LeBeau.
Cris Carter did not make it this year. He did make it to the top 10, however, and so there is a reasonably good chance for him to make it next year.
NFL video declares John Randle to be the #7 character of all time.
Congratulations to John Randle!
#93 forever!!!

mine too.......
favorite of all time… great guy, great player…. I just just about to write this same post, Damn you medicine ball!!! well done……. congrats to Johnny Randle, and hopefully C.C will get in next year
I am pumped
I thought for sure both Randle and Carter wouldn’t make it. After the events of the NFC championship game, I’ve been asking “What next?”
I watched part of the Texas vs. the Nation college all-star game today. At one point a defender chased Nation quarterback Rusty Smith out the back of the end zone. I was thinking of Jared Allen doing the same thing last year to the Lions quarterback. Then the announcer started comparing the mistake by Rusty Smith to the 12 men in the huddle thing from last week. It’s still pretty raw, pretty painful.
For John Randle to be enshrined in bronze, it is so awesome. He is an all-time great, and it is just special to see him get the honor he deserves. He is going in the Hall with Jerry Rice, Emmitt Smith, and the other guys this year. What a group.
I was so pumped. I came here to DN, didn’t see anything about it, and had to post something right away.
Career sacks:
John Randle: 137.5
Warren Sapp: 96.5
Randle’s career lasted one year longer than Sapp’s, and he had an advantage in that he saw some part time defensive end duty during a couple seasons while Sapp switched to a 3-4 defensive end his last couple of seasons in Oakland. But still, that can only explain away so much. A 40 sack advantage over a guy most consider the premier interior pass rusher of his era… that’s getting it done!
Big Grats to Randle
Loved watching him play.
But the snubbing of Carter is getting ridiculous. Not Blyleven bad, but come on… He’s not Jerry Rice, but he’s about as close as you could get. What are the voters’ problems?
My fave of all- time too
Boy is this some good news! John Randle is a a classic story; undrafted, and undersized, he was 240 lbs when the Vikings signed him. He was known for saying movie lines to intimidate opposing O-linemen and QBs. Like the classic line from Tombstone “I’m coming and hell’s coming with me” or my personal fave that he told Steve Young, " Hey Mormon I’m coming to get you!" I could go on and on about Mr Randle as I am sure you all could too. Congratulations you greatly deserve it!

Congrats John
I used to love watching him overpower and speed rush much bigger guys on the offensive line. It made one wonder how such a small tackle could accomplish so much. It had to be because he had a bigger heart. Congrats John on a job well done.
Randall
What a man, damn glad he made it into the Hall, always worried Vikes won’t becasue there are no rings in our past.
