Announcing Live Mock Draftapaloozafeststock!!!!

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, children of all ages!!.  On behalf of Gonzo, the proprietor of this here site, and Anthony and Eric, his trusty virtual sidekicks, the Daily Norseman would like to announce that we are rolling out our first ever, 27th annual Live Mock Draft!!  Details after the jump!!  More exclamation points too!!!!!!!!!!

Star-divide

Here's how this will work.  Groundrules, if you will:

1.   Anyone with a DN account in good standing can participate.

2.  If you would like to act as an NFL GM, email me at tglover47d@aol.com.  I will randomly assign guys to teams, if you have a request I will take that into consideration.  Might not be a bad idea to put in two or three team requests.  That said, who you request might not necessarily be the team you get.  So if you're Mr. Pink, you're Mr Pink.  No bitching.  Oh, and Gonzo will play Rick Spielman.  Sorry, when you're the site proprietor you can be the Vikes Draftapaloozafeststock GM.  First 32 guys to respond get a team.

2.  Draft time is this Saturday, March 6th, starting at 1 pm CST.  Either Eric, Anthony, or Gonzo will be the draft moderator and will update the picks as the draft moves along.

3.  It will be one round, and you will have 10 minutes to make your selection.  And there will be none of this.

4.  No trades, especially if we have guys playing multiple GM roles.  It's only one round, so trades wouldn't be very realistic anyways.

5.  Do a little homework if you're assigned a team you're not familiar with.  It only takes a few minutes to find out what a teams needs are, and who the top guys at those positions are, or who the top 32 players available are if you're a best player available strategist.

6.  Once I have all the teams assigned, I will post a reply in this thread and send each participant an email telling them what team(s) they get.

That's all I have for now.  If you have any suggestions, gripes, or complaints, let me know in this thread.

Question

Do we have to give a reasoning for our pick?

It would be nice

but unless Gonzo overrules me, I’m not going to make it mandatory

So will be other wide engaged. :p

It's a lot easier to love the Vikings when they win...

hmmm

First ever… 27th annual?

Norm Green still sucks!

Yeah, doesn't it make sense to you?

Does to me. ;)

How will you run things..

if you don’t fill your 32 teams?

by Deek on Mar 2, 2010 10:10 AM CST reply actions

We'll cross that bridge when we get to it

But we have 10 folks signed up so far. I think we’ll get there, but if we have a couple folks making two picks for separate teams, we’ll be okay.

Hope I made it in time.

Hard one(loss) to swallow, thats what she said.

by VikesPma on Mar 2, 2010 11:51 AM CST reply actions

Who is Gonzo going to take for the Vikes?

Hard to say. Have to see who is left.

I wouldn’t mind hearing some opinions on who the Vikes should take.

Hard one(loss) to swallow, thats what she said.

by VikesPma on Mar 2, 2010 11:52 AM CST reply actions

Here is a good draft

Round 1) Suh
Round 2 Clausen
Round 3) McClain
Round 4) Haden
Round 5) Berry
Round 6) Dez Bryant
Round 7 J Spiller
Just off the top of my head. Did I fulfill our needs?

Winning is not everything but it sure feels like it sometimes

by lifelongvike on Mar 2, 2010 12:20 PM CST up reply actions

You forgot the comp picks for Sharper and Birk. So throw in Gerald McCoy and Derrick Morgan. I am sure they will be available by those points. ;)

by Josh_D on Mar 2, 2010 12:23 PM CST up reply actions

Good point, I didn't get a DE. Ok Morgan with our comp pick.

We only get one comp pick. It is possible to be awarded one extra but really not likely.

It is amazing how deep this draft appears to be. Just imagine what New England can do with a 1st round and 3 -2nd round picks. The Vikes should do well in improving depth.

Winning is not everything but it sure feels like it sometimes

by lifelongvike on Mar 2, 2010 12:28 PM CST up reply actions

Yeah if the Vikes are the only team drafting. Lol

Suh is a beast. I hope the Lions don’t get him. His shoulders are the size of…

Hard one(loss) to swallow, thats what she said.

by VikesPma on Mar 2, 2010 1:35 PM CST up reply actions

Not sure what round he is supposed to drop to but

I hope the Vikes land Eric Berry. He could play CB or S. With Winfeild and Sapp moving around he would be a great fit. If any DB goes out with injury he could fill in right away, however he could beat out someone for a starting position from day one.

Hard one(loss) to swallow, thats what she said.

by VikesPma on Mar 2, 2010 1:33 PM CST reply actions

I would be shocked if he dropped out of the top ten, let alone the 1st round. Way too talented and productive.

by Josh_D on Mar 2, 2010 1:37 PM CST up reply actions

Your right way to good.

I didn’t see his name listed in the first mock draft I looked at about a month ago or maybe I just missed him.

No way he drops to the Vikes. Almost wish they could trade down to get him.

Come back stronger than ever Brock!

by VikesPma on Mar 2, 2010 5:36 PM CST up reply actions

What if...

You pick a team and you happen to like… Over-sleep haha

I am sure I would be available, but, I’d hate to sign up and miss out for some reason.

by Deek on Mar 2, 2010 1:51 PM CST reply actions

C'Mon Deek! You gota wake up sometime. Even Grime can do this.

Winning is not everything but it sure feels like it sometimes

by lifelongvike on Mar 2, 2010 1:58 PM CST up reply actions

Ya... Just..

I’m young and live a crazy life-style and I forget alot.

I’m on DN much during the day while I hang out at work getting nothing done.

I’m already looking into doing some massive research to try to create an accurate draft for the team I have picked.

by Deek on Mar 2, 2010 9:44 PM CST up reply actions

Ha you wish my picks would be so epic the rest of you would just sit and cry at your computers

However, the parents are in town this weekend so I have no time… :p

Great Job MilCardFan setting this part of it up.

I love Twins Baseball and Minnesota Vikings Football.

I'm "shocked!"

No one wants to be the GM of the Packers????

This should be epic. I have been thinking long and hard about who to pick for my beloved, Dan-Snyder-Free, Redskins.

I thought maybe packallday55

would want to participate. He’s a level headed Packer fan who’s stuff I enjoy reading

packallday +1

He isn’t afraid to talk about his teams weaknesses as well as its strengths. One of the few Packer fans that will probably admit Rodgers still hangs onto the ball too long, sometimes.

Come back stronger than ever Brock!

I thought of that

But my hate towards them would speak louder and I would end up drafting a punter for them. LOL

LOL

I wouldn’t have been that nice!

I would have forfeited the pick by just waiting out the 10 minutes. And I would laugh manically.

But MilCardFan doesn’t want that to happen. :(

Hmmmm

I just re-read everything and realized this is only one round. — Whoever ends up with the St. Louis Rams would of had it pretty easy – since they could choose whoever they wanted to.

Are we going to continue the thread to potentially do second round picks?

by Deek on Mar 3, 2010 1:29 PM CST reply actions

Depends on how the first one goes

If we have a lot of participation, and one of the moderators has the time, we’ll look at a two round mock closer to the draft. Not promising anything, though.

lifelongvike

I most interested to see who you pick. Since you have 2 picks I wonder if one of them will be risky. Like Mays. He ran a fast 40 time but he doesn’t get off his blocks all that quick. He is still young and getting better so who knows.

Tebow might be too big of a project for the Vikings current needs regarless of what Favre does. However he is built like a machine and someone will take a chance on him in the 3rd round or Jacksonville in the 2nd.

Come back stronger than ever Brock!

by VikesPma on Mar 3, 2010 1:54 PM CST reply actions

Iam interested in what you will pick for the chargers

Runingback maybe?

"And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you!"

by Vikant on Mar 3, 2010 5:48 PM CST up reply actions

If the Chargers sign C.Taylor or T.Jones they would be set but

That propably won’t happen so a running back is looking good. Spiller will be gone by that point so I’ll have to check the RB depth in this draft, which from a glance doesn’t look that deep.

Come back stronger than ever Brock!

by VikesPma on Mar 4, 2010 12:01 PM CST up reply actions

Can we get an updated list of whats available?

I think this would be most fun if we have a full 32 teams picking.
