So long Merlin Olsen
While he never played for the Vikings, he was someone I always liked from the yester years. I always enjoyed watching him play on old NFL Films and what not. Ironically, his final game was against the Vikings in the 1976 NFC Chamionship game. Sadly, Merlin Olsen succumbed to cancer at age 69. One of the few commentators I liked listening too as well as a fearsome defensive lineman. He was also one of those guy's alot of players liked as well as many fans no matter what team. So long Merlin and God Bless!

Brett Favre is the Greatest QB in NFL History!
Brett Favre will be back in 2010, 100% Guaranteed!
You young guys missed out on a good one
Olson was a tough player with a heart of gold and personality to match. One tough competitor.
When the Purple People Eaters met the Fearsome Foursome it was a battle of pride between two exciting defenses.
May Heaven’s Gates greet you and the memory of your days on earth peovide many with inspiration long after you have now left us. RIP Merlin. Thanks for the memories.
Agree
Growing up as a Viking fan, I had an overbearing older brother who was a die-hard Rams fan. Fortunately, for the better part of the 70’s, the Vikings always seemed to have the Rams number so mostly all I had to put up with was his whining when they lost. That being said, Merlin Olsen was one of the few Rams players I respected and admired. The guy was a class act on and off the field. I recall how he played the big-hearted ox-strong ex-Confederate in the John Wayne movie “The Undefeated”. That was Merlin. An overgrown kid with a heart of gold. He was the epitome of what every player in the NFL should strive to be. RIP.
a huge loss
