Tomlinson choosing the Jets
Suppoesedly sources are saying it is a done deal and we will get an annoucement today or tomorrow that LT will join the Jets instead of our Vikes. See article. where does this leave us, i wonder. Westbrook or the draft or give one of the younger guys a chance. Living in NY I know alot about the Jets and every good year they have is followed up with a bad one. If LT wanted a better chance to win, he would have chosen Minny. But Speilman and Chilly didnt seem 100% positive that they wanted this guy, so hopefully their backup plan is good. I think he would have been a nice fit. I guess the Jets are paying more, or shall I say overpaying more

I don't blame Spielman and Childress for not being 100%.
Not getting LT isn’t really a big deal. There would’ve been a lot of risk involved there.
In AP I trust

From what I've read in the last 30 minutes
from other sources/newsie’s is that nothing been finalized yet and his agent is actually negotiating at present with both clubs. Who knows, and no biggie if he goes to the Jets.
"If you're gonna shoot, shoot, don't talk."
"You men are only risking your lives, while I am risking an almost-certain Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor!"
"We have clearance Clarence. Roger Rodger, what's our vector Victor?"
The only reason I would really want LT is if
it meant Brett coming back. Other than that Im fine with giving a young kid a shot.
negotiating ploy
Most likely this is just a negotiating ploy. It’s Sunday and nothing is happening so the agent is making something happen, or trying to. I hope the Vikings just stand pat. No need to get into a bidding war here, I think.
nope
He is signed by the Jets, according to Adam Schefter. Not a negotiating ploy.
It sounds like the Jets were his team of choice all along, and he used the Vikings for leverage.
Honestly, I think we can do better at the running back position without him. I would be comfortable going the season with Peterson, Young, and Johnson. Whatever the Vikings decide though is fine by me.

Maybe draft someone in the second or third
From the only TRUE North division

Do we have room for 3 RB's ?
The Vikes signed that Kick specialist last week, so they were already looking at making 1-cut for him… right ?
yes
Who gets cut? I don’t know, but I think if we are going to reclaim our identity as a running team, as we should, we will need three running backs, and four with the fullback.

Loeffler?
I think the Vikings may have their eye on AJ Edds OLB out of Iowa. He can also long snap. If that is the case then Loeffler may be gone.
Wow. Edds can long-snap? I don’t even know how to respond to this, except Loeffler has been a really good long-snapper for the Vikings. He missed a few a couple years ago, but we all saw what the Falcons and other teams went through when they couldn’t rely on their long snapper last year. As the Superstar Mike Morris would say, long-snapping is vastly underrated.
On Edds, on one scouting report it says he looks like another Ben Leber. In other words, he will be good.

Yes there were many scouts checking out Edds long snapping
I am not saying they will or should get rid of Loeffler but it is an option if Edds can do it.
funny don't we face the jets this year?
"And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you!"
Hmmmmm
Maybe a repeat of the last time we played against L.T.. 200+ for A.D. and squat for L.T.

Please not washed-up, injury-prone Westbrook.
…he’ll be off the field FAR more than on it. No thanks.
me too,
but not quite as much as the bears & peckers
GO VIKES!!!

Looks like logic won out
Hopefully Chilly and Co. made the best choice by letting LT slip away. I figure they know what is best for the Vikings deep breath . I still have that “rejected by another pretty girl” feeling if you know what I mean. Like a little kick you-know -where.
…Oh well, sour grapes and I hope the Jets sink next year!
Albert Young and Ian Johnson
We’ve already got two good young running backs ready to go.
Here are some highlight videos of Albert Young: running for yardage in college, catching a pass for a TD, extended highlights, and a good preseason run .
Ian Johnson’s college highlights are also great. Next is a video tribute to Ian Johnson . He has really good intangibles. He also is a competitor as seen in this NFL video after he was cut by the Vikings and before he was signed to the practice squad. He has shown talent in the preseason. In college, he was used to block punts. Maybe he could do that now while also getting some relief carries as running back.
No hard feelings
Its a business. Sometimes these things work themselves out anyway…
"We have a right to be proud, for in our veins flows the blood of many brave races who fought as the lion fights for lordship. Here, in the whirlpool of European races, the Ugric tribe bore down from Iceland the fighting spirit which Thor and Odin gave them, which their Berserkers displayed to such fell intent on the seaboards of Europe, ay, and of Asia and Africa too, till the peoples thought that the werewolves themselves had come."
