If not now.. When??
Hopefully some day soon.
The Vikes will actually decide to take part in Free agency... I know that we are some what restricted about what we can do since we finished in the final 4 last year.. But, we did lose C.Taylor and A.Hicks... so we do have some room to sign somebody.... We missed the chance to get LT, but he wouldnt have counted against us anyways because he was cut by his team... but still I would have rather had a shot at LT, then now us possibly going after Westbrock.... and I actually think westbrock would be a hell of a pick up, if his head wasnt made of glass.... but he is way to injury prone... so hopefully some day here Chilly, or speilman will give us some sort of new talent to add to our arsenal..... also the draft is about a month away.... and about the only thing that I complete confidence with chilly is the draft.. he and speilman have done a remarkable job of getting talent out of the draft... however I really wish we would do something before the draft to upgrade this team of ours..... lemme know what you think

LETS GET IT DONE
Brett wanted Randy Moss, offered up unknown amount of his $$$$ to get him, packers did not do it. A trade is possible, with ???. Brett gets Moss, VIKINGS hold that trophy up, you get a player back (Moss) that you guys did love, Brett got his way (via VIKINGS), and I am just so F’N happy.
Veteran cornerback needed
We need to sign a veteran cornerback. Griffin is expected back by the middle of the year, but we should bring in a good veteran cornerback anyway.
Griffin will not be 100% this season. Furthermore, he must not rush his return. If he does, he could screw up his rehab and damage his career. We need to ease him back, not pressure him to come back sooner.
With Winfield hopefully moving to safety, we need a vet cornerback to go with Asher Allen and Benny Sapp. Then we’ve got to draft a cornerback.
We do have DeAndre Wright as well.
If Charles Gordon has recovered from that injury, and is in or near football shape, he might be a possibility at cornerback.

Charles Gordon is an exciting player (and a former Jayhawk)
but I doubt that he could be a viable starter at CB. I’ll bet that he would rank highly as a nickel or dimeback, but he would probably have trouble matching up vs. the #1 and/or #2 WRs very well.
Benny Sapp should not be in the running for a starting role, either.
The way I see it, there should be a 1st rd CB or veteran starter and Asher as the starting CBs with Winfield at SS and Sapp and Gordon as the nickel and dime. I agree that CG should not be counted on this year at all, so Griffin could return in 2011 as the FS.
I completely agree with all of that. Sapp did decently while starting at CB, but who knows.

Someone mentioned...
That in Winfields contract that he not end up playing SS…
Could be wrong.. But just something to throw in there..
I thought it was a clause against him playing a certain percentage of plays at nickel cornerback.
On KFAN last season, Winfield said he would play safety if asked. In fact he said he would embrace the opportunity.

It's a clause that cuts his pay if he starts to play the nickel to much
And probably is put in there as if he’s playing nickel he’s losing his step as nickel is a down grade from a full time CB. Safety wouldn’t be a down grade so much as it would be a lateral move. Personally, until he has another off year (I wouldn’t go so far as to say he had a bad year last year) I would keep him at corner.
It's a lot easier to love the Vikings when they win...
Justin Fargas
He could be a good pick up. To my knowledge he was a decent back.
I am disappointed that we didn’t sign LT but that was more LT than the Vikes. He wanted a starting role and the Jets said sure.
Ski-U-Mah!
RFA
i wonder if trades off of RFA keeping certain teams out of certain divisions could be the answer . i mentioned morrison at oakland for a 3rd or trade for a 4th to allow EJ back to the weakside that i believe he is a natural fit . the carolina CB tendered at a 2nd or N.O. RB for a 2nd. something to think about.
I heard some Raiders fan say that Kirk Morrison is good on the weakside, but not in the middle.

We went far last year
We don’t need a team shake up. Also, if you get a solid CB whats going to happen to our current depth with Griff gets back? Sap and Allen are good CB’s.

Yeah I don't get why we need a veteran corner either.
Certainly our players did a good job last year. It seems that we need to bring in a rookie to challenge all of our veterans and to bring new skills or speed to the position. This is how a team gets better when they are already good. Do this at every position possible and just get stronger.
Winning is not everything but it sure feels like it sometimes

A good job last year?
The Vikings ranked 27th in passer rating allowed and 27th in INTs last year after a mediocre 16th rank in passer rating and 25th in INTs in 2008. They tied for the 4th lowest TD% allowed in 2008 and tied for 23rd in 2009.
Between the loss of Darren “I Have a Ring, Hahahaha” Sharper and the increased time given to Tyrell Johnson, Karl Paymah, Bennie Sapp and Asher Allen, it was a disastrous year vs. the pass. A veteran corner or 1st round CB would be very welcome.
Sapp < Allen (we can hope)
is an ok replacement, but if he was good enough to be a starter, he’d have shown that in KC.
I have more faith in Asher just because he should improve on his rookie season and is the only CB on the Vikings’ roster whose coverage skills were praised by scouts.
well, the Vikes coverage system may play into Sapps strengths
Where KC didn’t use him the same way. I"m not saying Sapp is an all star by any means but by the end of the year he wasn’t a glaring weakness either. Also, Frasier plays a bend don’t break passing defense, so people will get yardage on us but hopefully we hold them in the red zone.
In all the pass D wasn’t that great but you also have to remember most teams would rather pass on us that run on us.
