Randy Moss returns?

What IF?  Randy  has 1 (one) year left in his contract, a trade is possible. I know who I'd offer up, and know deal off situtation.  You guys loved Randy, so a welcome back home would be, come on, a rock that stadiumn.

Now get this,  Brett wanted Moss when he was a free agent, Brett even offered  $$$ of his money to get it done. Packers did zip, ego vs braines, I'm still laughing at that no-brainer.  What a sweet Super Bowl win this now be, with Moss on-board!

If the Vikings management and/or owners REALLY wanted Tomlinson, it would of been a done deal.  I'm thinking  now, a Moss and Westbrook, maybe  on the table.

PS  Why would Taylor go to the Bears, when he could of gotten more money it he went to the Lions?

rumors say randy may get a straight release to save money. all these vet backs getting picked up could indicate a 3rd rd. pick if someone falls into our laps. for chester det & chi will both implode he should have gone with a one year deal either way.

We do not have a need at WR at all, and I seriously doubt it would ever happen.

But I wouldn’t mind it. :)

Cough cough.

I like Berrian, but is he an elite receiver? If so, can he be counted on to stay healthy?

If it’s not Moss, there are some good receivers in the draft.

by medicineball on Mar 15, 2010 8:06 AM CDT up reply actions

No, but Sidney Rice is, and Percy is an awesome slot receiver. Berrian is a really good 2nd receiver who we’re paying a lot of money. :)

by PurplePeopleEaters on Mar 16, 2010 2:01 PM CDT up reply actions

Chester Taylor is from the Detroit area. Maybe he just preferred to not return his home city.

On Moss, great. But he is not worth much to us in a trade, since we could pick him up in free agency next year without giving up anything.

Quick

Sign Napoleon Harris and trade him to NE. Tit for tat right?

I like how you think.

by medicineball on Mar 15, 2010 4:10 PM CDT up reply actions

I don't see Moss ever returning the Minny

but if there were a chance, I’d let the devil take my soul in order to see Favre throwing to Moss with AP in the backfield, Rice lined up on the other side and Harvin in the slot. I don’t care about any of the stuff that went down between Randy and the old regime… don’t care about any of the antics he pulled when he was younger… he is, and will always be, one of my favorite players of all-time. What a treat it would be to see this.

Alas, it’s 99.9% a pipe dream, but it’s certainly fun as hell to think about!

If it was reasonable & possible...

I would say — Go for it!!!
Drop BB if you could…

But having Moss on board could be exactly what gets Favre to sign “For SURE.”

2-3 things we have had to worry about with our receivers.
1) Berrian w/ his hamstring pulling issue
2) P. Harvin w/ out of the blue migraines…. He only missed 1 game (iirc), but when he played and was questionable, he seemed like a no-show in the game.
3)Rice (season prior – injured).

Believe it or not, the receiving core could always use a little depth….

by Deek on Mar 15, 2010 8:58 AM CDT reply actions

Hamstring issue? Not for long.

Fans keep writing in about the hamstring problem. They are indicating that somehow it is a recurring injury and I assume they mean for years to come. I don’t ever recall a hamstring injury being a career ending injury for any athlete. Ever. Now it could be my memory or ignorance. But if anyone knows of a hamstring injury curtailing an athletes career could you please post so I know? I foresee no problem with BB after he is able to rest the hammy this off season.

Winning is not everything but it sure feels like it sometimes

by lifelongvike on Mar 15, 2010 9:51 AM CDT up reply actions

I think most of the issue

is because it was reaccuring so much last year. Especially when no one actually touched him. Sort of gives you the idea that he’s a frail receiver. Personally I think it was a problem for him last year and it hampered his ability to synch up with the QB. How can you get routes mapped out when your not sure what your receivers speed is going to be depending on the down he’s playing…
Personally I think the doom and gloom on him is a bit premature. He is an expensive receiver but the next couple of years he’s actually quite reasonable so I don’t see a reason to drop him for someone else. Especially if the other option doesn’t bring the same needs as what Berrian fills.

BB has played in 90 of 96 career games. He had an issue with both hamstrings last season. Neither was recurring. Arguing a player isn’t valuable is fine, but it isn’t fair to make up facts to support an argument.

by LoveHate on Mar 15, 2010 12:13 PM CDT up reply actions

Its a typical "What If" scenario...

Rice was injured in the season prior 09. — He came out and peformed so well he exceeded most people’s expectations.

Harvin – “rookie of the year” had an amazing year, but he was slowed up by random migraines… I believe the only game he actually sat out was the Bengals game… We really seemed to be a run-first team that game. He played in the AZ game when he was questionable with migraines, but he seemed pretty non-existant in that game.. Maybe just a decoy since if I recall, he didn’t even take any kick returns.

Berrian – I watched him pull his hamstring without being untouched. I know I read during this year that years prior he’s had hammie issues. This seemed to make him non existant to some point in comparisson to other receivers. I heard Shiancoe’s name called way more often than BB.

But all 3 have had issues that could take them out of a game here/there. Having some quality depth would always be nice…. Especially if we turn into a team that may pass more than run….

by Deek on Mar 15, 2010 11:37 AM CDT up reply actions

Well first

I would like to see the people who thought Rice was going to have a better year than he did and bring them a big heaping dose of reality because I’m pretty sure he beat everyones expectations by a long shot. Would I like Moss back on the team? I’m not really sure. He’s not what he was for sure, he does tend to create issues in teh locker room about himself. I would probably rather have a Berrian here, he does his job (when he’s not injured) and seems like a good man.

It's a lot easier to love the Vikings when they win...

by Grime on Mar 15, 2010 12:05 PM CDT up reply actions

Rice was healty. Harvin was healthy except for the migraines. Berrian had hamstrings which allowed him to play but severely limited his ability to make plays.

What is shocking is that Jaymar Johnson and Darius Reynaud didn’t get time substituting for Berrian. It tells me either they are still developing or we need to look at depth there.

by medicineball on Mar 15, 2010 12:35 PM CDT up reply actions

Yeah that was a red flag for me as well.

Whatever it is a receiver in the draft might not be a terrible idea…

Actually I thought it meant that Berriman, even injured,

was still able to produce better than most average recievers. But I’m always for drafting depth to creats competition during training camp. Johnson plays special teams well and reynaud returns punts right? Not so easy to beat out in camp?

Moss

Is no longer the receiver he once was, at least physically. But, I was surprised when I saw his stats from last year. Not too shabby!

I think Moss to Minnesota is plausible. Finish where he started. You know in Moss’s mind, there’s a little something left to prove to those crazy Minnesotans who loved him. Let’s face it, for the most part the fans loved the guy and the media hated him. He has matured since his trade to the Raiders, and I would love to see him in purple again.

Favre to Moss…Touchdown? I’m not holding my breath but I wouldn’t be surprised either.

The Minnesota Vikings - Undefeated in the Playoffs at Lambeau Field!

by BaldViking on Mar 15, 2010 11:44 AM CDT reply actions

Maturity..

He’s only gotten older…. W/ age, we expect maturity….
Knowing he’s on the back 9 of his career would probably mean his goals are the more important things…. Going out on top and a ring….
A Favre to Moss Mn Vikings TD would be epic in itself… Especially if it was a deep pass…

If Moss is still pretty quick like he once was, he could definately do some damage to opposing defenses.

When you put your receiver set as Moss, Harvin, and Rice…. Who do they cover??? Unless that defense could get a decent pass rush, that offense would be very explosive.

It seemed that Favre favored Rice for long balls and Harvin for 3rd downs (CT normally did some of the running on 3rd downs).

I wonder if Favre would potentially Favor Moss a lil more than Rice?

Favre is smart though, he’ll throw to whoever is open…. But he did throw to Rice on his one on one’s knowing he could jump up and get the ball.

But…. We play the patriots this year, so this sort of trade is probably unlikely.

Randy Moss, future Hall of Famer

Watch this and relive more of those memories.

Did he really make all of those catches? Was Jeff George’s arm really that good?

Moss will be in Canton one day, but he has a lot left. If we can get him, let’s bring him home.

When they played the

Saints on Monday Night they clocked him running like some 35 yards in 3.5 or something like that. So I dont think hes lost a step. hes still a very good reciever. And plus why not enjoy seeing things like this orrr everybodys favorite this?

The clocking your talking about was...?

From a booth, if I recall, correct? I heard about this too…. When they were clocking his speed.. The results were basically he was just as fast as he used to be and didn’t lose a step. Long-story short, he would be an awesome receiver to have for his speed. Not to mention his leaping ability and experience.

Question is, since he had such a poor performance with the Pats, would they be willing to give him up?

+1

Plus , do most fans really believe that Moss can’t win a super bowl with the Pats. At least he has been to the Super bowl with the Pats. If the Pats let him go its because his skills have diminished that much. No other reason.

Winning is not everything but it sure feels like it sometimes

No way

Childress doesn’t believe in bringing in players who have more impact than his platitudes. He would prefer to never coach a SB game than to get there because of a great non-QB.

Better to Get Moss now

instead of waiting on Favre to come back next year!

by UnBannedVikingholic on Mar 16, 2010 12:04 AM CDT reply actions

Is he really available?

Can’t go wrong with Moss. He was a part of the two highest scoring teams in history, the Vikes and the Pats. But I think it would push Harvin into the backfield on a few plays and I’m not sure that’s a good idea.

by JoeKap on Mar 16, 2010 8:46 AM CDT reply actions

Moss not available.

This bit comes from a statement Moss made in which he indicated that New England would not pick up his contract next year. He believes that they have been consistent in letting their older players go instead of paying a high contract amount for players with diminishing skills.
Somehow this has translated into people believing he is on the trading block. Of course New England probably would trade him if they got something valuable in return. This is just a nostalgia idea by fans. No evidence or facts exists that the Vikes would give up anything valuable for an older receiver that is slowing down.

Seriously people the off season craze is getting a bit scary..

Relax Moss will not be here next year. Actually, except for the draft i doubt we’ll be seeing much of anyone new making it to the squad.

by Grime on Mar 16, 2010 9:32 AM CDT up reply actions

I will potentially regret...

Not going after Moss, is Favre were to not return…. I think Moss would be a pretty good incentive for Favre to return..

A Favre to Moss TD pass in GB……..
Need I say more?

by Deek on Mar 16, 2010 10:35 AM CDT up reply actions

That is romantic but not true

Farve had his best passing year last year and will have a healthy BB this year. If success is what he is after then this is the team he wants. If he wants “glory moments” then he isn’t focused on a Superbowl victory.
