49ers Sign Paymah

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/n/a/2010/03/17/sports/s145115D41.DTL&type=49ers

Looks like Karl Paymah signed a one year deal today with the 49ers. Although this wasn't a shock since we didn't tender him at all. It does open up another roster spot which is nice since he was below average at everything he did. Any one have any ideas on who we might draft this year? I'm still unsure of what we are going to do.

Hm...

Do you think it’s possible that we can pull a trade involving Tarvaris similar to the Whitehurst trade? If spend what they did on him, that means Tarvaris has to have some value, right?

Grammar fail.

No

because the Whitehurst deal was crazy. You won’t see it very often for a team to so aggressively go after a 3rd stringer who hasn’t played in any actual NFL game yet. In fact, given that the Seahawks went for Whitehurst over Jackson, who HAS started several games in the NFL, I think it shows that he isn’t valued very highly.

Yeah, I know.

A guy can dream though. I actually am not that down on Tarvaris.

Good for him good for us

Hey do we play the 49’rs again this year? :D

It's a lot easier to love the Vikings when they win...

Took the words right out of my fingers, lol!

Ah, ah,
We come from the land of the ice and snow,
From the midnight sun where the hot springs blow.
The hammer of the gods will drive our ships to new lands,
To fight the horde, singing and crying: Valhalla, I am coming!
SKOL!

I know there are a lot of folks here that were down on Paymah last year

and, to some degree, I am one of them. But, for however mediocre he was … he was the best we could do in the circumstances. Now his departure really highlights that the achilles’ heel we have in our secondary has even thicker skin (even easier to expose, and harm us), than it already was.

The whole LT things was a “would’ve been nice” thing, that was disappointing not to have turned out, but not crippling. If we can’t land at least one good CB this offseason (preferrably two, or at least one + a good prospect for future), that does not bode well for 2010.

Nice point.

People can say whatever they want, but he tried hard for the Vikings. Give Karl Paymah credit for that. Maybe he will find a better fit with the 49ers.

Potential positions to be address in 2010 draft

In no particular order:

DB
Defensive Tackle
Guard
QB
RB
linebacker

"We have a right to be proud, for in our veins flows the blood of many brave races who fought as the lion fights for lordship. Here, in the whirlpool of European races, the Ugric tribe bore down from Iceland the fighting spirit which Thor and Odin gave them, which their Berserkers displayed to such fell intent on the seaboards of Europe, ay, and of Asia and Africa too, till the peoples thought that the werewolves themselves had come."

Paymah was a good member of our team

…on special teams. People forget that the reason we really brought him in was to play that 3rd side of the game. I wanna say he was 2nd in special teams tackles but I’m totally pulling that number out of my butt.
