Brett's Appearance on Leno Tonight

Wonder what he'll say?  Leno is a terrible interviewer in my opinion and wont opress the issue too much although I hope he does.  I think we will get what we got out of the Joe Buck Show last year.  A whole lot of hints, but nothing to give us a clear indication of what his decision is.  With trades starting to begin, I would love for Brett to let us know real soon, if not tonite, so we could deal for McNabb if he dosent come back.  Although Brett would be my first choice.  God help us if we are stuck with TJack or Sage.

I think he announces he's coming back with the Vikings.

He generated such a buzz this last season and Wilf is still on the push for a stadium.
I think he goes all in this year – Draft, OTAs, Camp. We’ll see a lot of Brett.

I know… his Packer’s history says he’s not interested in the off-season activities – he’s a show up and play guy.
But I think he’s back, enjoying the game again and playing for a team/fan base with a high level of excitement/opportunity.

His performance on the field was a departure from previous years and I think he departs from his usual path off-season too.

I BELIEVE...

I'm not sure if he'll be full into OTA's

and such but he might show up and preview them with the coaches, maybe make some throws. I would hope he does make a decision soon though if he doesn’t it will make me crabby. Looks like TJ is being traded though so that makes me think the coaching staff knows something we don’t.

It's a lot easier to love the Vikings when they win...

yeah...

I don’t think he’ll be fully active in the OTAs or Camp, but I expect he participates.

What time to they do the taping for the Jay Leno show?

I thinks its around noon or afternoon local time in CA. If he announces he’s coming back, we’ll hear about it by 5 pm.

by dsludo on Mar 4, 2010 1:10 PM CST up reply actions

I intend to watch it tonight...

I also intend to stay away from the DailyNorseman blog until it airs locally.

Unless – prior to 5 o’clock, I hear of an on-going Favre on Leno post (Like the Game-threads).

I think, the flip-flopping in years past was maybe to try and get ouf of GB, but now, now age is more of a serious factor.

I think it would hard for Favre to make a real decision until after the normal trades, and draft. — If he has to perform under a weak offensive line, why would he want to return?

by Deek on Mar 4, 2010 3:43 PM CST reply actions

Favre has clout. They will provide him what he needs if he comes back.

His protection has to be #1. If the Vikes commit into solidify their offense line. 1st round pick, even upgrading of the backups. Rotating in guys, keeping fresh legs on the field. You can talk about cornerbacks all you want, but our defense & secondary aren’t exactly chopped liver. Better QB protection & opening up an extra hole here & there is the single most important thing we can do to improve. That’s with or without Brett Favre. Of course that’s just my opinion.

Preview

I have observed many media events over the years. Sometimes rumors are spread that some “big event” is going to happen on a show. It rarely does. The epitome was Geraldo opening Al Capone’s safe.

Go ahead and watch Leno tonight. Just expect it to be fun, not more than that. There will be some humor and some serious talk. But it’s unlikely that Brett will say, “Hell yeah I’m coming back.” While that would be incredibly awesome, don’t expect that to happen. Just expect an entertaining show. That’s what it will be.

I expect more humor

Than seroius-talk…

I’m just wondering if he’ll be asked about returning……

Jay Leno set, down the street from me

Should I arrive a little before 6pm PST when they film and threaten Favre into coming back or arrive early to threaten Leno to quit show bizzness?

I hope they both do it on their own accord. At this point the Vikings need to re-sign Taylor, beg Favre to comeback, get a CB with the 1st round pick, get a serviceable FA OL, and get Bernard and EJ Healthy asap.

Skol Vikings!!

I don't think we need to beg.

Are we a better team now with him? Hells yes!!
Will we still field a team if he decides to hang it up? Yes, too.

I think Chilly is willing to give him time. I just don’t see him hanging it up after last year.
I would like to see him announce and show some enthusiasm about coming back.
That might be the final nail in the Packer’s coffin on the issue.

I BELIEVE...

Looks like there isn't anything in FA for OL

But there are a lot of CB’s out there right now. Pick up a CB in FA and a OL in the draft.

It's a lot easier to love the Vikings when they win...

Need 2 CBs and 2 OL by the time all is said and done

Ah, ah,
We come from the land of the ice and snow,
From the midnight sun where the hot springs blow.
The hammer of the gods will drive our ships to new lands,
To fight the horde, singing and crying: Valhalla, I am coming!

Brett Favre says he still hasn’t decided whether he’ll play again next season.

Appearing on NBC’s “The Tonight Show” Thursday, the Minnesota Vikings quarterback told Jay Leno he’s not going to say anything anytime soon and that he just plans to sit back and enjoy the offseason for now.

Favre is the NFL’s career leader in nearly every major passing category and a three-time league MVP. The former Green Bay Packer had one of his best seasons ever after deciding to play for his former bitter rival in Minnesota.

But Minnesota’s overtime loss in the NFC championship game at New Orleans Jan. 24 left the 40-year-old battered. He has said his main concern was whether his body could hold up for another season.

If this is the highlight of Brett Favre’s appearance on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” then don’t bother missing your bed time.

According to an early Associated Press account, Favre told Leno he doesn’t know if he will play in 2010 and doesn’t plan an announcement anytime soon. The interview was taped earlier Thursday and will broadcast late Thursday night.

I’ll bring more updates as necessary, but I don’t think any of us really thought we would get much in the way of news out of this. I still believe Favre will play for Minnesota this season, as much as one can reasonably speculate about his future. It’s just a matter of when he shows up.

Here is my thoughts..... Maybe some will agree..

I tend to try to think in a realistic manner. I leave myself skeptical, but I may tend to lean one way or another.

When they asked Ryan Longwell, I believe, in January on Favre’s return he was quoted as saying “I think he already made that decision come mid December”.

Now, I started to look this up, and that would of had to mean, he made a decision between the Panthers game & Bears game. Too bad Longwell couldn’t have been more specific.

Favre couldn’t get anything started in the Panthers game, and he was getting pretty beat up. But than, come 2nd half of the Bears game, the offense came out firing on all cylinders and it was crazy…. Was it the drama from the Carolina game that made him decide he was done, or was it the hey when things go my way we kick butt from the Bears game?

Than, after the loss in the NFC championship game, he said he wouldn’t be taking forever to make a decision. I figured we would hear rather soon on his return or not. Now he’s saying he’s not going to be making any decisions anytime soon. I laugh when i think to myself, is he not only flip-flopping on retiring, but also flip-flopping on deciding when he will make the announcement??

Well, I think if I was in his shoes, I would know.. If I knew already by now, I would have given an answer. If he knew as of now he was going to retire, pretty sure he would of said it by now. However, since he has still delayed his answer, I believe he wants to come back but see how things play out. Will Minnesota look like a “just as good” or “even better team”? — I wouldn’t want to come back if our O-line is weaker!

If we draft bad, and lose good talent to the FA.. That may quesiton his return as well.

I don’t think the schedule, how they plan the away games, etc. will be so much a factor. Favre can play in the cold (IMO, since the Bears game proved that)…

by Deek on Mar 5, 2010 10:35 AM CST reply actions

He's under contract...

and he hasn’t announced that he’s retired. He doesn’t need to announce he’s not retiring, right?

He’s a Minnesota Viking and he’s our starter for 2010 -11

I BELIEVE...

I just saw the Jay Leno Interview on Vikings.com

Right at the end, I wonder if it was staged on how it was to go down after he was asked.

The Priest confessional followed with oh your retiring….. W/ the retirement party

Than he says “Well, I haven’t made a decision” followed by the “one more year!!”

Anyone else notice that the Minnesota Vikings playbook was Empty?? haha
