Remember, the established rules are as follows:
1) No trades
2) You have five minutes to make your selection. If you don't get your pick in on time, either Eric or I will make it for you
3) Use the subject line of the comments post to announce your pick. . .i.e. "With the 1st pick of the 2010 NFL Draft, the St. Louis Rams select. . ." Please have your selection consist of this only. . .nothing in the "body" of the comment, just your pick in the subject line. If you'd like to give a sentence or two of logic/justification for your pick, do a separate comment. There is an example below.
4) Spectators, comment on each pick under that particular pick only. We're going to try to keep the comments closest to the left-hand side reserved for picks only. We're going to try to get this mock linked to other sites out there, and we'd like to keep it organized.
Other than that, we should be good to go! Again, I'll open the comments back up before 12:45 PM Central time, and we'll start promptly at 1 PM.

I will pick for the pats if thats ok
Jared Allen is to football what Jason Voorhees is to Lake Crystal.
Percy Harvin is Devin Hester, except someone very smart decided to teach him how to catch and run routes.
That works!

THe #1 selection by the St.Louis Rams is...Sam Bradford
Facts are stubborn things, but statistics are more pliable. ~Mark Twain
I would laugh..
If the Rams pass on Bradford, and the Lions pick up Bradford.
That way, they have a QB w/ the “FORD” in the last name.
LOL
I should of clarified my post a little better
I mean to say they would have “Another”
I knew about Matt Stafford..
I think it would something they could have some fun with.
Reporter to Head-Coach: So, who will be your starting QB today???
Head-Coach to Reporter: Well, all we know for sure is that the starting QB will have FORD in his last name.
Logic behind Bradford
I think that he wins out between him and Clausen. To build a good team one has to start with the QB and work up.I think that QB is their BIGGEST need right now. Look at how the Colts started.
Facts are stubborn things, but statistics are more pliable. ~Mark Twain
I believe bad teams need to build defense first. O-Line 2nd, QB 3rd.

Well
2007 and 2008: Adam Carriker and Chris Long
2009: Jason Smith
2010: Sam Bradford
That’s what it looks like.

Great tackle, and I’ve always been a believer in building the line first. Clausen is just lower on my board right now since he hasn’t been able to throw for coaches because of his injury. But if Okung was off the board, (which he probably will be) probably would have gone with Clausen here. Just too good to pass up a tackle of that caliber.

WITH THE 14TH PICK IN THE DRAFT, THE SEATTLE SEAHAWKS SELECT: TRENT WILLIAMS, OFFENSIVE TACKLE, OKLAHOMA
Debated with this pick, and there is no way in hell that Williams will still be here with this pick. But in the interest of BPA, the Seahawks now have bookend tackles to protect the QB they draft next year.
Wow! Well, consider the Seattle Seahawks to have a much-upgraded offensive line.
Williams can play either guard or tackle.
Precisely. The Seahawks running game has been non existent since they lost Hutchinson and now that Walter Jones is done, they need to rebuild that line.
Two o-line picks worked great for the Jets in 2006, it will work great for Seattle here. And Hasselbeck’s chances of staying healthy for an entire season just went up.

Favre wouldn't be upset
McCoy is a rookie…he would sit behind Brett for a year and Favre only has onw more year if that in him
Not me. He’s fragile, short, a spread quarterback, a running quarterback, and I question his arm strength. Maybe later though.
Gut says no… The Vikes have bigger needs.
HOWEVER, I wouldn’t object to McCoy in purple.

Followed by the 2011 mock draft! Haha
by Eric J. Thompson on Mar 6, 2010 2:27 PM CST up reply actions
Well first we have to mock the 2010 season so we have a draft order. Then we need to have mock CBA discussion so we know if they league has resolved some issues. Then we can do the mock declaring for the draft so we know which underclassmen are coming out. But then, yea, we will totally do the 2011 draft. But we should stop there, no need to get carried away…

With the 25th pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, the Baltimore Ravens select Jermaine Gresham, TE, Oklahoma
He’ll be the Ravens version of Dallas Clark, able to get open at will and rack up YAC for Joe Flacco. With Anquan Boldin in the fold, the Ravens don’t have to fret about WR’s anymore.
Flacco can’t get much happier about this off-season, getting Stallworth, Boldin and now Gresham.

I had him on my list…
But I didn’t think he’d make it this far.. And he wasn’t my first choice either.
Supposably the best TE to choose from
Him or Rob Gronkowski
Clark's an odd comparison
Gresham’s a receiving TE, but more traditional in-line than a guy like Clark whose a real WR/TE hybrid
Luck is probability taken personally, clutch is probability attributed to individuals.
I only compared both because of their abilities to get YAC.

Jerry Hughes, DE/LB, TCU. Great fit for their 3-4.
by Eric J. Thompson on Mar 6, 2010 2:34 PM CST reply actions
What? They have two rush ends for their 3-4 in DeMarcus Ware and Anthony Spencer. Earl Thomas all day here, Texas product and everything.
I disagree with this.
I see what you’re saying, but I went with best fit over best player available. You can never have too many good pass rushers in today’s NFL.

Best duplicates Sproles too much and Mathews doesn’t have much pass catching experience.
I think they wait until a big back that can catch/block is value and go CB or DL in the 1st
Luck is probability taken personally, clutch is probability attributed to individuals.
Mathews is pretty much a feature back.
Winning is not everything but it sure feels like it sometimes

I beg to disagree. Earl Thomas is on the board. Kyle Wilson is a good corner, but not great in zone coverage yet.
I considered McCoy. . .but I like Tony Pike better, and I think we can get him at the bottom of the second.

Logic on Wilson over Thomas. . .if Cedric Griffin was still healthy, then Thomas would have been the pick without thinking twice. But he’s not. . .and when he comes back, I think Griffin is an ideal candidate to move to safety.

I wish the Vikings would pull the trigger on it. . .Griffin has been a good CB, but I think he’d be an all-world safety. Size, decent speed, and hits like a ton of bricks.
The Daily Norseman - The greatest Vikings' site on the Internet!

If Frazier wanted Griffin to play safety
Then I think they’d have done it already. As it is, they have a safety with a huge contract left, something like 4 years, and they’ve spent a pick on safeties in the last 2 drafts. I just don’t see Griffin moving to safety anytime soon, if at all.
I think CB is a bigger need than S for us…I’m really torn on whether I’d want Wilson or Earl Thomas here.

With the 31st pick in the 2010 NFL Draft the Indianapolis Colts select Earl Thomas, DB, Texas
there are about 10 players in the draft I’d take over Brian Price as Indy. Thomas is one of them. Phenomenal value and can be a instant contributor at safety and CB.
