2010 NFL Draft: Minnesota Vikings Select Minnesota LB Nate Triplett With the 167th Overall Pick
The Vikings got pick #167 as a compensatory pick, which means they couldn't deal it away. They used the pick to select a hometown guy in Minnesota linebacker Nate Triplett.
Triplett stands 6'3" and weighs around 250 pounds. He projects to be an inside linebacker, and had 105 tackles, 5 pass breakups, and 2 interceptions last year for a Gopher defense that. . .well, let's not sugar-coat this. They were pretty bad.
I was really, really hoping to hear the name "Myron Rolle" with this pick, but we did not.
As of now, the Vikings have three picks remaining. . .a sixth-round selection at #199 overall, and two seventh-round picks, #214 (received from Detroit) and #237. Stay tuned to see what they do with those picks!

Myron Rolle
I really wanted to see him here too. I think he would be a good addition. VERY hard worker. I liked Jasper Brinkley as mlb last year. Definitely has room to improve but he was solid for a late-round rookie tossed into a high-ranking defense.
And i still would like to see tony pike on this team

The Vikings only take quarterbacks with above-average arms. I really doubt Pike will be a Viking.

But we drafted john david booty before and its not like he has to have the strongest arm in the west coast offense

Selling booty professionally
in the spare time he gets from never hitting the field
I obviously wanted Myron Rolle but I also wanted him because I have been anle to see how good he is upclose.
Surprised we didn’t get Rolle.
Rolle X 100!!
Why pass on him when we could use him more than any other player at this point. Shit. What the #$%& were they thinking?
McCourty will do. If the Packers don't take him first... they would.
What a waste
This is one of the worst drafts the Vikings have been a part of in quite some time. I’m an outspoken person but right now I’m speechless.
Only time will tell.
I have a lot of faith in our front office.

I used to.
Up until this draft, I was really starting to put a ton of trust in our front office. They were producing phenomenally for quite some time.
But this whole process has just shattered all faith I have in them. Not only do they select worthless guys, but they have NO clue of value at all. They traded they’re only 3rd rounder to move up 10 spots in the 2nd??? Thats not value. And neither is taking a one year LB from a dreadful defense and completely nameless guard in the 5th.
And don’t even get me started on how much a reach Cook was.
Would somebody please calm me down. I’m a wreak right now.
Cook should surprise you.
Watch some tape on him. He is fast and a ball hawker that the Vikes didn’t have. If they pass on Rolle this time I’ll be a wreck.
McCourty will do. If the Packers don't take him first... they would.
Only tape I managed to find had them throwing away from him all the time.
But the reports don’t say he’s a ball hawk at all
There are tones of reports out there
I just heard he can jump, has long arms and has good ball skills. That to me can equate into a ballhawk. We all have different perceptions. At 6’2 for a CB he better be able to challenge for the ball.

Thats like saying guys with big arms can bench press alot. Your logic there seems pretty unsubstantial.
And while its fine to analyze and make assumptions, your first post kinda made it sound like you knew what you were talking about. You label him “fast and a ball hawk” from your film review. But none of the other scouts tend to see those things, so you might be missing something there. Or watching the wrong guy.
unsubstantial, not really.
Ball skills, good speed & length can lead one to believe he has ballhawk potential. I was trying to match what the Vikings saw in him when they picked him.
Admittedly calling him a ballhawk is a glass half full statment. NFL.com and others said these traits mentioned above about him, but no they didn’t say ballhawk.
McCourty will do. If the Packers don't take him first... they would.
Actually guys with shorter arms can bench press easier
Less distance and if they are stocky they can bang the reps out quite fast.

Its a better safety out there
In darian stewart….one of the sec’s finest

Jesus dude
Who died and made you a draft genius? No offense, but the guys who do this for a living know the process better than you do. Better than everybody here. The Spielman era drafts have been very good, so there’s no reason to think that this draft won’t produce one or two sold players.
Obviously the FO knows better than us...
I just don’t like our safeiy situation right now.
McCourty will do. If the Packers don't take him first... they would.
I will reiterate my concern. I have no idea how these prospects will pan out longterm. No one does, not even the FO. But my main concern is 100% about value. And you can’t honestly believe we got good value at those picks, do you? Besides Griffen, every single one of those picks were a reach. If they were in love with Triplett, why not wait at least another round or so before taking him, considering it looks like nobody else really had much of an interest in him. Same goes for the G and especially for Cook.
Gerhart’s situation is more unique in that he was taken around where he should have been, but the Vikings spent way too much to move up to get him. That, combined with the fact that he’s really not filling a major position of need, makes me question the decision to draft him there. But overall, I actually really like him.
