2010 NFL Draft: Minnesota Vikings Select Penn State TE Mickey Shuler With the 214th Overall Pick

With the 214th overall selection in the 2010 NFL Draft, the Minnesota Vikings have selected Mickey Shuler, a tight end out of Penn State University.

In his career at Penn State, he had 27 receptions for 300 yards and four touchdowns.

Woo.

Minnesota has one more selection left, and that's at #237 overall.  Stay tuned to see what happens!

I already like out TE group

But I have nothing against this guy because I have never heard of him. Interesting thing is that the pther Penn state TE went to GB.

More of a blocker

then anything else, so maybe take over to Kleinsasser down the road?

"If you're gonna shoot, shoot, don't talk."
"You men are only risking your lives, while I am risking an almost-certain Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor!"
"We have clearance Clarence. Roger Rodger, what's our vector Victor?"

A good blocker okay.

Your right V.F.NM Jimmy can’t play forever. He has to go back to the woods sometime.

McCourty will do. If the Packers don't take him first... they would.

Probably dropped to the Practice Squad

If he bulks up and works on his technique a little bit he may end up being a very serviceable TE in a year or two

Ya, and if the Patriots cut Tom Brady tomorrow, we could sign him. And what if Chris Cook found a magical flower that made him run faster when he ate it?

If all three of these scenarios came true, it would totally explain the Vikings draft. But as it is right now, none of these are looking likely to happen.

Wow

I hope we get darian stewart i think hes the last safety left. What do you guys think about him??

Safety+1

McCourty will do. If the Packers don't take him first... they would.

Why draft a TE when we have atleast 3 on the squad, we don't use TE all that much anyways.

PLUS We seriously couldn’t trade up a few places and given away our extra 7th and gotten our safety in Myron Rolle? Webb/Shuler over Rolle. Just outlandishly stupid. All because Rolle is a Rhodes Scholar.

by FSUViking on Apr 24, 2010 2:51 PM CDT reply actions

You have no clue

that thats why the Vikings didnt take Rolle. Unless they came out and said “We will not be selecting Myron Rolle because he is a Rhodes Scholar” then you cant say that. Maybe they went to his workout and didnt like what they saw, maybe he doesnt have the instincts, and maybe they dont want to take him because he is a Rhodes Scholar but I highly doubt that. Either way we dont know why they didnt take Rolle, but they know more a helluva lot more than us.

I love Twins Baseball and Minnesota Vikings Football.

You might be right that I don't know as much as they do in terms of everyone available out there but

I’ve seen Myron Rolle play for 3 years. I know the type of player that he is. Yeah perhaps I am just doom and glooming it atm but realistically I just think they wanted him to continue to fall. Maybe they were never going to pick him but I just felt the guy had so many upsides.

Guess we will see what happens with everyone a couple of years from now but realsitically I see him having a much better career then Webb, reglardless of where we, or anyone, uses Webb.

by FSUViking on Apr 24, 2010 3:07 PM CDT up reply actions

I am glad we passed on him. I’m sure he’s a nice guy but the media hype is incredibly annoying on him. Plus I don’t think he is going to be a very good football player. I thought he would, but then I saw some tape of him and his stats, and it turns out he just isn’t highly talented. And he’s slow and can’t cover. He’s not a big hitter and he can’t catch a ball. Let somebody else deal with him.

Found our replacement for the "Jimmys"

Dugan and K that is, I like this pick; he comes froma football family ( dad was NFL TE) . He won’t beat anybody off the ball but can catch in traffic and is a powerful blocker, who can handle DE’s one on one. Because of his bloodline he has knowledge of the game so he’s a head of the learning curb. Everyone say bye-bye to Mills

Being the son of a Jet’s All Pro TE looks good on any TE’s resume.

Maybe ’Sasser can start to consider full time fishing or something.

by Elgar on Apr 24, 2010 3:41 PM CDT up reply actions

‘Sasser has no hobbies other than punishing anyone that gets in his way on the field. Jimmy K’s forecast? PAIN.

Least we aren't Carolina.

Clausen, Pike, Matt Moore.

Good lord make up your mind people, what are you gonna do, put them in a “triple shotgun” and have them throw back and forth to each other till someone gets open down field

by ragnarrahl on Apr 24, 2010 3:13 PM CDT reply actions

Have you played Madden Arcade?

The triple pass isn’t all that effective. Lol.

McCourty will do. If the Packers don't take him first... they would.

I haven't actually

I didn’t know that was something someone actually tried at some point, I was just saying it because it sounded stupid and so do the Panthers’ moves.

It's one QB, but three balls come out of his hands, its rediculous.

Horrible draft

27 receptions. Wow! Go Front Office!

by PurpleJesus on Apr 24, 2010 3:29 PM CDT reply actions

Super agree

Mismanagement aplenty for the Vikings in this draft. Unless a news story breaks indicating that there was a small nitrous oxide leak in the war room causing the headdecision makers drowsiness and confusion, Speilman just took a major hit in my books.
