2010 NFL Draft: Minnesota Vikings Select Rutgers LB Ryan D'Imperio With the 237th Overall Pick

With their final selection in the 2010 NFL Draft, the 237th pick overall, the Minnesota Vikings completed an. . .interesting. . .three days by selecting Rutgers linebacker Ryan D'Imperio.

D'Imperio stands just a shade over 6'1" and weighs in at about 240 pounds, and runs the 40-yard dash in 4.69 seconds.  He had 76 tackles last season, with eight tackles for a loss.  He also had a sack, three passes broken up, and an interception.

And that concludes the 2010 NFL Draft for the Minnesota Vikings and their fans!

Really weird draft

Definitely not as good as their past drafts I must say.

I feel we did good

It wasn’t what I expected but I’m happy with what we did.

I’m sorry, but would you mind sharing why you felt we did well? Cause I could really use the optimism.

Ok

Cook fills a need at CB and will be used to cover TE"s in certain situations, and matches up with the taller WR’s in the division.
Gerhert is a bruiser, a great blocker, and will prolong the career of AP.
Griffen is a steal and being surrounded by probowlers will bring out the best in him. Cutler, Rogers, and Stafford your heads are now on the clock.
Degeare a powerful run blocker and is physically talented with great size.
Triplett a local hero who has size, can tackle and as a MLB can cover.
Webb a freak of an athlete, who will scare the hell out of DC when he steps on to the field with all our other weapons.
Shuler is a great blocker, who knows how to find the open areas in a zone and can catch the ball in traffic.
D’Imperio will compete for special teams and can play both LB ans FB.

Thanks man

Love looking at the bright side. Webb is a freak athlete. Hopefully he is our next Calvin Johnson :O haha. No gonna happen, surely. But if it did…

Welcome to the Vikings, Ryan D'Imperio

Either linebacker or fullback, it’s great to have a Scarlet Knight on the Vikes!

Despondency, thy name is the Vikings.

by Jayrome007 on Apr 24, 2010 3:54 PM CDT reply actions

Lets see.

First round consnsus DE
High second round consnsus CB
Mid second round consensus RB
A 325 lb offensive guard. Can you find another that was drafted later that you had heard of? Thats a big guard. A road grader type. Can’t believe they had no good reason to draft him but I think they know how important a back-up to that position is.
A couple of late round LBs. We need them. Farwell, Leman, and Onatolu need competition too.

Ok, your favorite player did not get selected. Mine either. But I didn’t see Gerhart being the chosen one. Spielman and Chilly did. We had to give up a player or a pick to get up and get him. I trust their judgment.

fullback

D’Imperio is reported to have said that the Vikings drafted him to play fullback. Tahi has competition.

It does look like the Vikings will stay with the fullback-themed offense, though.

He's not as big as Tahi but no one yard pass plays with him.

Last year he intercepted a pass and took it to the house, He has decent hands and is fearless, an old school type of Viking player. Anyone who plays MLB and FB is alright by me.
