Perrilloux working with Favre
Perrilloux working with Favre
A reader was kind enough to alert us to this story via Twitter and it's interesting on two fronts.
Television station WWLT in Louisiana recently ran a short feature on quarterback Ryan Perrilloux. Perrilloux received a tryout invitiation to the Vikings' three-day rookie camp that opens on Friday at Winter Park. As we wrote in an earlier blog, Perrilloux has had his share of problems and was even kicked off the LSU football team in spring 2008, forcing him to finish his collegiate career at Jacksonville (Alabama) State.

Ryan Perrilloux will get his shot at professional football, but hardly in the way he envisioned it coming out of high school. It was not inconceivable that his career at LSU would catapult him into the first round of the NFL draft. Instead that career ended with him at Jacksonville State. And in the seven rounds of the NFL draft, he never heard his name called.
What's interesting about the video is it shows Perrilloux getting pointers from Brett Favre while standing outside a football field. Was Favre working out, too? The station did not show that. Keep in mind, Favre's friend and former quarterback's coach Steve Mariucci recently said Favre was having issues bouncing back from the ankle injury he suffered in the Vikings' loss to New Orleans in the NFC title game.
But if Favre is able to do some drills that would be good news for the Vikings, who are hoping he comes back. (I know, I know, we all think Favre's going to return but it's April 29 and I'm not about to turn down a Brett Favre update.)
Favre and Perrilloux are both represented by Mississippi-based agent Bus Cook, so it's not a surprise Favre would be helping a Cook client.
"It' s definitely a great opportunity just to play football again and do something I love to do," Perrilloux told WWLT. "Be around a great bunch of guys. Being out here with Brett. Just an opportunity to go out and learn and suck up as much knowledge as I possibly [can]."
- The Vikings have announced the dates for their Organized Team Activities. They will be May 18-21; May 24-27; June 1-4; and June 7-8. The team previously announced its mandatory minicamp would be June 11-13. None of the OTAs or minicamp practices are open to the public.
- New York Giants punter Jeff Feagles is expected to announce his retirement on Friday. Feagles has played in an NFL record 352 consecutive regular-season games. Favre has played in 285 consecutive regular-season games, the record for a position player.

FSU played Jacksonville State last year
and it was a really close game for only one reason, this guy. Literally the only reason they were kept in the game was because of him.
Having said that this is also the same guy that was kicked out of LSU and I’m pretty sure was being investigated for allegedly being apart of a scheme to print fake money, or something like that. I know Federal charges might have been pending but I haven’t heard much about this recently.
I am cautiously optimistic.
If the Vikings brass want him to come in and try out, then there is a good chance that his off-the-field issues are no longer a problem. We seem to pride ourselves in signing character guys, the guys we can trust to go out on a boat and not make national news.
If they like Perrilloux, it’s likely not just because of what he could have been or still could become, it is because of who he is.
No doubt
Chilly & the FO seemed to have worked hard to look past people with character issues.. And stray away from players who have issues..
These are people who are in the spotlight alot. Simple mistakes will land them on Tmz or the local newspaper, depending on charges (i.e., speeding over 100, threats in a bar).
The world is about giving second chances, but dwells too hard on the past. If he has talent, let him utilize it for something good. Hopefully he’s really good & can contribute to the team.
Maybe QBOTF? Possibly… Could be a quick-learning project.. That’s the most you can seem to hope for these days.
Whistling in the dark
Ah, ah,
We come from the land of the ice and snow,
From the midnight sun where the hot springs blow.
The hammer of the gods will drive our ships to new lands,
To fight the horde, singing and crying: Valhalla, I am coming!
SKOL!
Was this at Camp??
Was that record at Vikings Camp?? If it was this would confirm Brett is on board this year.
Hopefully that is what it means because it didn’t break my heart when he played for the Vikings after we released him he is free to play for who ever he wants. However being a coach for the Vikings would make me burn my Favre Jersey.

Would you...
Put it up on youtube like a bunch of other people did??
Surprised some people didn’t burn it when he went to the Jets, but as soon as he was a Viking, multiple Youtube videos went up.
sure
I can figure out that he wanted to play for a superbowl team and get another ring and the Vikes are one QB away from that. However if he stays there to coach and not come back to Green Bay its over.

Hmm
So, let’s say he likes the Minnesota area. He likes the hunting, fishing, and so forth.. Assume a coaching job is just a side job to him, since it keeps him in the line of football and its something he believes he can be good at. So he chooses to find a permanent home in Minnesota. To top it off, he has a decent job offer of a coaching staff for Minnesota. You would be mad about that? Do you think the FO of Green Bay would shoot him any offers?
Just saying.. Seems sort of weird…
However, I doubt he does it.. He has claimed he has no interest in being a coach. But, you never know.. Maybe 20-year or so from now, we find out he was one of the greats as well as far as coaching goes and we get to go through the whole will he or won’t he retire from a head-coach position.
Deja VU!!!!
He could enjoy the area and coach for GB.
If he had an offer from GB (again) to work for them he could stil spend plenty of time in MN. How different from MN is sconny anyway? (No conceal carry but you can own a silencer)
Not sure he would be in a big hurry to go work for TT.
Other than that he’d love Green Bay….
It's a lot easier to love the Vikings when they win...
