Not too long ago, I saw some folks bemoaning the number of "Sponsored Posts" that have been on the site as of late. Part of that was my fault for letting a couple of things bank up and having to get them all out at the same time. I'm going to try to keep those a bit more spread out from now on.
But there are going to be Sponsored Posts on this site for the foreseeable future. All of the blogs within SBNation are doing some sort of sponsorship deal. If you're a regular reader of The Daily Gopher (and if you're not, you should be), you've noticed them doing a series of posts sponsored by EA Sports leading up to the release of NCAA Football '11. An overwhelming majority of the NCAA blogs have been doing them.
Our NFL blogs currently have three different sponsors.
DN, and all of our NFL blogs, are sponsored by Sprint. . .therefore, you will see posts with the Sprint logo on them.
DN, and all of our NFL blogs, are sponsored by Comcast. . .therefore, you will see posts with the Comcast logo on them.
DN, and all of our NFL blogs, are having their official fantasy football leagues sponsored by CBS Sports. . .therefore, you will see fantasy football posts with the CBS Sports Fantasy Football logo on them.
DN, and all of our NFL blogs, will have other sponsors in the future. . .therefore, you will see posts with their logos on them, too.
Here at DN, we've been at this for four years. We're a far cry from the early days of the site where an entire chunk of one of the sidebars was a bunch of spam links for ticket brokers and stuff like that. Actual, honest-to-God corporations have done the research and determined that sponsorships on SBNation websites are a good way to get their message out to the sorts of people they want to reach. . .hardcore sports fans. All of our SBNation NFL blogs have obligations to fulfill on this front.
So, starting again today, there are going to be sponsored posts on SBNation. They're going to be there now, and there are going to be more in the future. I will effort to spread them out so that there aren't a ton of them in a row, but they're not going to be stopping any time soon.
Thank you for your time and your understanding.
