How about
A countdown clock on site, actually 5 of them, one for each of the preseason games, and the First game of season. Each one could have a dual or multi vote option.Winners advance losers sit still, you advance by correct points.
Example
Which preseason game Favre decides get off lawnmower, which rookie has best impact in each preseason game, who gets cut,who wins game, who commits the most fouls etc.
We could also take this to a new lvl for the whole season, and keep track and just not Viking fans but everybody that posts here.
If we are going to be the best site out of 32 teams we need act like it ,spin it,flip it,post your ideas, take what I started and morph it.We got a long way from first preseason game and frankly I am tired of looking for Real Viking news and finding Squat Doodly rantings.
This just an Idea I hoped throw at ya all to help releive those preseason jitterys and twitches, get those juices flowing b4 that first Season Kick Off thump.
Lets kick this around, tweek it,make it work and above all have fun, maybe we get lucky and Gonzo puts up mail box from address where this Site started as grand prize(Bears,Packer,Lions fans get first gift from great dane next door.)
This FanPost was created by a registered user of The Daily Norseman, and does not necessarily reflect the views of the staff of the site. However, since this is a community, that view is no less important.

interesting idea
I wonder how much SB Nation supports of that.
It's a lot easier to love the Vikings when they win...
It would be much appreciated
If this site would try to involve fans more often. Sometimes the ’’meet up on the game thread and bitch/moan/cheer/spout off drunken posts" routine gets a bit stale.

+1
I agree, Jepp. There’s some activities, like Mocking the Draft, that get individuals involved, but it would be a lot more interesting if it was done by team with the individual site owner making the pick with input behind him from the site members. Something that made it feel more like we’re all involved and pushing our team’s site.
That being said, maybe Chris will be able to do something with the ideas generated in this thread. Great start, speedlod!
Ah, ah,
We come from the land of the ice and snow,
From the midnight sun where the hot springs blow.
The hammer of the gods will drive our ships to new lands,
To fight the horde, singing and crying: Valhalla, I am coming!
SKOL!
I remember...
Looking back at some old game-threads where people posted live while the game was going on.
It was interesting to see how all of us Vikings fans thought during certain point of each game….
Here is what I recall from memory:
Vikings/Browns….
The AP play was what I was looking for in particular and I noticed that most people were not nearly impressed by AP’s “get off me” run as the sports media was. I think most of us were probably watching the replays and were intrigued by the play.
Vikings/49ers…
This one, from what I recall, was more interesting due to the fact that even when Favre had the ball with no time-outs, people still had a lot of faith in Favre. We were currently 2-0 and Favre had not really slung the ball around yet. People were optimistic hoping Favre could pull something off
Vikings/Ravens
This one was more shocking… What I found interesting here is at the time, most of us were like well he is our first loss.. 3-1 isn’t so bad… etc. etc. And then everyone starting posting “NO GOOD!” and people were shocked… I want to say the game-thread had more shock than the 49er’s miracle catch.. Crazy how that went out.
I also noticed that Gonzo was close on game score predictions… I think for example the 1st Lions game: his prediction was 33-17 when the score was really 31-10 (these are probably not the exact #s, but close). SOme may say that’s not that close, but, I think he did a good job on it.
The preseason game predictions: These are the “they don’t mean nothing games”, so we can expect losses…
I think we should vote which “rookie” has the biggest impact on the team (overall)… Something we can go back to at the end of the season and than we can all say.. "Who would of thought!?
We could attempt to figure out a point scoring system where each member posts their game-predictions each week. See who is the closest at predicting each game.
We can take into account Win/Losses
Than break the tie(s) down by point margin.
I am sure there are several factors we can contribute.
So for ex: If the Vikings go 18-0 and R4F’s prediction is true, he would obviously take the cake in this one…
We can do a sack prediction… How many times the opposing QB gets sacked. Include how many our very own J. Allen gets..
1 thing that can be done for winners on a week to week basis….. Have the winner be able to give a temporary ban on a certain member. Like 3-4 days?? Something to impose competition & actually take participation.
(On a side note, I was a member of a forum that took contributions of a set dollar amount to ban members for a certain period… The idea was to help pay for the site costs).
Just my few thoughts/ideas..
Great Ideas I like it!!!
The idea of a member based predictions pool could be cool too with the winnings going to a vikings charity or something. Each member that wanted to participate would contribute $10 for the whole season and $10 for each post season game.

Was thinking
More for fun then doing Charity work, though Charity has its place I think lot of peeps scraping by.I just spent 600 bucks on a break job for the Ford truck, parts only, thankfully I can do the work, wifes car went down twice last week, $90 for an alternator which the bearings frooze up(how she didnt hear any noise ?)then an in tank fuel pump went out and of course after she filled and wouldnt have went out but loves run as close to E as possible.
I think theres hard times all over and this was just a way for for everyone to get involved.Everyone post a question for the upcoming season,we make it into a post and everyone answers those questions each week.It has to be Viking related and to the current roster as we speak.Just a little fun about our team for us.Kick it around,we got a few weeks put the thinking caps on and remeber log on Fav site when Vikes play.
only problm
is the IRS someone would have to deal with the tax issue.

I was referencing the witholding
if you have ever gone to a Casino or bought a raffle ticket and won, they will ask for your SSN and address etc. so they can report your earnings or the value of what you won to the IRS. The casino or other organization will then send you a 1099 at the end of the year and you will have to report that on your taxes.
The reason I am unsure if the money can go to a winner is who is going to take responsibility for the paperwork. If it goes to a charity there is no tax reporting required by DN.
I think it would be a great idea but not sure if DN would agree

If it's under a certain amount per year then it does not get taxed.
However, you probably lstill have to send it in as someone could gamble in many different places.

The Viking Nostradamus
I love the idea of a prediction game. Since we have never tried it before I would suggest that initially it be for fun and considered a test.
I have no idea how much work it would be to keep track of such a thing but I would be thrilled to play. And remember. I play to Win the Game.
