Once again, huge thanks to Ted for all the work he's been putting into the site over the past couple of weeks.  Yours truly will be back in the big chair both here and at SBNation Minnesota starting on Monday.  (And if you're not checking out SBNation Minnesota on a regular basis. . .well, you ought to be.)  The Vikings kick off the pre-season tonight. . .awesome. . .and we're less than four weeks away from the ass-kicking that the Vikings will be handing out to the New Orleans Saints in America's most overrated city on 9 September.

The draft for the Daily Norseman Fantasy Football League is still set for 28 August. . .that's just two short weeks from today. . .at 11:00 AM Central time.  It appears that everyone has accepted their invitation to the league and has themselves situated.  Last week we had the draft order revealed, and now we're going to take a look at the scoring system.  Go ahead and have a look at it after the jump.

Star-divide

This year, we're going to a PPR, or point per reception, format.  I think it's going to make things a little more interesting, and it may alter draft strategies a little bit.  Here's an overview of all the scoring:

Passing

Passing TD = 4 points
Passing two-point conversion = 2 points
25 yards passing = 1 point
Interception thrown = -2 points

Rushing

Rushing TD = 6 points
Rushing two-point conversion = 2 points
10 yards rushing = 1 poin

Receiving

Receiving TD = 6 points
Receiving two-point conversion = 2 points
10 yards receiving = 1 point

All Skill Positions

1 reception = 1 point
Fumble lost = -2 points

Kickers

Field goal of 50+ yards = 5 points
Field goal of 40-49 yards = 4 points
Field goal of less than 39 yards = 3 points
Extra point = 1 point

Defense/Special Teams

Defensive/Special Teams TD = 6 points
Fumble recovery = 2 points
Interception = 2 points
Sack = 1 point

0-6 total points allowed = 8 points
7-13 total points allowed = 6 points
14-20 total points allowed = 4 points
21-27 total points allowed = 2 points
28+ points allowed = 0 points

0-49 yards allowed = 12 points
50-99 yards allowed = 10 points
100-149 yards allowed = 8 points
150-199 yards allowed = 6 points
200-249 yards allowed = 4 points
250-299 yards allowed = 2 points
300+ yards allowed = 0 points

And there you have it, folks. . .as I said, hopefully the point per reception system will add a little bit more strategy to the draft and everything else.  I'm not sure if I've ever done a PPR league before, and I'm very much looking forward to giving the system a try.

Everyone continue enjoying your weekend, including tonight's pre-season opener, and we'll see you back here again tomorrow!

Are we still doing the draft 8/28?

Because I’m still going to be in Jamaica on my honeymoon that day…

Your honeymoon over fantasy football?

BLASPHEMY!!!!

But yeah. . .it looks like the draft is still going to be that day. Since you don’t already have enough to do, you should start getting your lists in order. (-:
