Vikings have lots of love for Favre
Holy crap. Your front office must really "love them some Favre". NFL.com reports that (summarized by the good people at Rotoworld):
I think that cash would have bought about 3 sections and two sets of bathrooms in a new stadium. I can just see your front office jumping up and down like crazy if you guys win the big one and then simultaneously crapping themselves.Brett Favre could earn as much as $28 million in 2010 if the Vikings win the Super Bowl.
The $3 million added bonus has already been reported, and Favre can earn another $4 million in new incentives based on the Vikings' postseason success. He's also set to receive a deferred payment of $8 million from his $12 million 2009 salary. He already received $4 million deferred in March. We'd hesitate to conclude that Favre's return was monetarily driven, but the figures do show how highly he's valued by the Vikings.
Hey if he can get you guys SB45 it is completely worth it.

duh.
He and several other Vikings players are set for a significant payday if they win the SB…
This is news because you can type Favre into it and increase your visibility 1000X

Meh.
A 3 million raise to get him to come back is well worth the money just in terms of merchandise and ticket sales. If we win the Superbowl another 4 million is again a drop in the bucket compared to the merchandise/ticket money and the possible momentum gained towards a new stadium. Favre is good for business and Zygi will be happy to dish out an extra 7 million for the potential huge benefits a Superbowl would bring.

The Favre
I say we start referring to Brett Favre as The Favre, kind of like The Donald. And, considering what a big money maker The Favre is for the Vikings, Minnesota, and the NFL, I think it is apt. Pay the guy whatever you want and he’ll still make money for the organization.
The English language was carefully, carefully cobbled together by three blind dudes and a German dictionary.

Yes
The Favre
sounds like the title to this summer’s biggest blockbuster!

First I doubt money is motivating Favre to win the superbowl
That’s more Minnesota showing appreciation I would guess. Also, I would be thinking that Favre probably has plenty of money especailly as I don’t see him living the crazy lavish life style or snorting coke off of a hookers um well back side.
Color me wrong though it coudl be money motivated. Personally, i really think he’s getting to old for this crap.
It's a lot easier to love the Vikings when they win...
He might be
Snorting cock off his wife’s backside. Of course, being from Mississippi, he could just be snorting coke off the hood of his tractor. That really doesn’t get the press that a hooker does, and in Mississippi, it might not be all that uncommon.

Don't underestimate
the value of Favre and a Super Bowl win would have on new stadium negotiations. From being built to the state’s contribution. A gamble? Yes. But the potential return is worth it.

i am not sure if i believe this
i mean a jump from 13 to 28? Not sure if i am right, but this seems a little out there.
It's not a jump from 13 to 28. The article was intentionally slanted as usual.
If you read it carefully, you will notice that it includes 8 million from “Last Year”.

I just looked again and noticed,
this jack ass is counting the entire 12 million from last years earnings.
He’s also set to receive a deferred payment of $8 million from his $12 million 2009 salary. He already received $4 million deferred in March
"What is best in life?"

Why is it
That ’Aints fans are so scared/obessed with Favre? Is it that they know the impending beat down they will face?
by Jepp The Viking on Aug 20, 2010 7:44 PM CDT up reply actions
No, we were hoping he would return
So he could throw another across the body INT to our defenders.
Just kidding. I, for one, love what Brett Favre does for football. He has always given back to his community and local highschools. He has always been down to earth, and I think playing the game, just for the fun and love of it, has always been his primary motive for returning. At the end of the season, he is done, he wants nothing else to do with it, like an addict trying to quit, and then, at the start of the season, he is fiending and first downs start coursing through his veins. I think he is just as lost without football as his fans are lost without him. I am a Brett Favre fan, and I caught as many Minnie games on TV as what would play over here last year. I hated that he had to play against the Saints in the NFCCG, because if it had been another team that he was playing against, I would have probably rooted for him. Well, except against the Cowboys. I had to root for them last year because my fiancee is a Cowboys fan. Ya know, it is hard being a true football fan sometimes, rooting for more than one team can be draining.

So the correct total is 13 to 16 with a Superbowl win pushing it to 20.
by CanadianViking on Aug 20, 2010 7:47 PM CDT up reply actions
Yeah, his 2010 salary is only inflated by about 28.5% at most, over what it actually could be.
That falls well within the boundaries of responsible journalism, doesn’t it?

deferred salary
This is an uncapped year. The Vikings wisely deferred some of Favre’s salary from last year to this year. That amount is factored in. In other words, the NY Post that was the source of this did not find anything new.
Look how Mumps sits back to see how many will reply to prove his point .
If I went to C-Anal st. and said the same of Sharper they would rant for days . Why ? He will be on the PUP . NO chance to be proven wrong . Deflecting like all the rest .
G , if we get 475 yards again and win . Are you still the best ? And why ?
NO reply will show that you know lightninng won't strike twice !!!
by gothicpurple on Aug 21, 2010 3:26 PM CDT up reply actions
Well,it depends on if you turn the ball over another 5 times or not
Also, What will you say if the Vikes lose, get 183 yards, INT for a TD, Favre sacked 4 times, while giving up 500 yards, 4 Passing TD’s 2 Rushing TD’s, and a PR or KR return for a TD? Will you still complain that the refs were against you?
That is the thing about “what ifs”, anyone can play that game, but it doesn’t mean it will happen. Lightening may or may not strike twice, but who is to say that the lightening doesn’t strike for both teams? We could be looking at an offensive shoot out, a defensive stalemate, or a special teams moment to be remembered. None of us know how the game will turn out, and pretending like you do takes away any credibility that you think you have. I could rant and pull insane predictions out of my ass all day, but that doesn’t mean they will happen the way I say, and if they did, it just means I got lucky.
Opening day will be watched by the nation. I think it will be a great game, and I don’t think either team will be in for an easy ride. It will be hard fought on both sides.

Look how "gothicpimple" misinterprets again
Oh damn that spell check eh?
What point was i proving? I was just posting how much cash outlay was to be spent on Favre this year. Hopefully for you it is money well spent (and yes, i know as anyone else does if they read the post, that some of it is related to deferred salary). Was there any slanderous comments?
Why so touchy every time a Favre comment is posted?
I am sure D# would love you to post that he is potentially going to get $28 Milly this year. FYI he is also targeting either the season opener or the last preseason game for his return. Whether or not SP and GW opts to see what Jenkins can do is still debatable.
If you get 475 yards again and win are we still the best? Obviously, not on that day. Are you the best. Who knows. New season. For all we will know Detroit will be the best. I don’t have psychic skills and don’t call Jojo’s psychic network so i would just be guessing.
Football is easy if you're crazy as hell
Well Grumps,
The question at hand is
earn as much as $28 million in 2010From a contractual point of view, 12 of this 28 million was earned in 2009, not 2010. From a tax point of view, if he is paid his 2009 salary in 2010, it would be considered 2010 earnings. So from a legal point of view the article could be considered accurate. From that same point of view, he could not possibly be paid a Superbowl bonus in 2010, since the playoffs are in 2011. Therefore, the numbers claimed in the article are not possible. Legally, it may not be libelous, but it is still intentionally misleading and a blatant distortion of the facts.
You are also correct that there are no slanderous comments in the article, as slander in common law today, generally refers to defamation by oral communication. Written defamation is called libel.

Take it up with the good people who wrote the article. I quoted the article, hence the block quotes.

Perhaps, I need to explain the purpose of my post.
You stated your point here.
What point was i proving? I was just posting how much cash outlay was to be spent on Favre this year.I chose to respond to your point by explaining that the article you used to make your point, was a distortion of the truth and why it’s nothing more than “Bovine Scat”. When someone uses such excrement to attempt to make a point, their point loses credibility.
That and I took the time to be kind enough to explain to you, the difference between slander and libel.
BTW People that write excrement like that, hardly qualify as “good people”.
"What is best in life?"

Wow
You are really good, and sound so polite when trashing someone. I think Grumps is impressed by your intellectual wit. I must say, I am much more impressed with your trashing than gothicpurple’s. Your thoughts are much more polite and coherent.
On a side note, I actually think Grumps used the wrong word that you so politely corrected for him. Speaking broken – fluent “Grumps”, I believe the word he actually meant was derogatory. It was posted in response to the crude comments left by Mr./Mrs??? “gothicpurple”. I used thge Mr./Mrs due to not really knowing if the gothic one is male or female. I mean no harm or disrespect, but assuming one way or the other might lead to hurt feelings. Anyway, the derogatory comments and nature shown by GP, have led to some defensive behaviors. It has happened in our beloved CSC before. It is one thing to troll on an oposing fans blog space, but why is there a need to troll on your home team blog space? That one doesn’t really figure with me, but who am I to judge. I will continue to post as respectfully as possible, and at times I will probably fail at it miserably, but at least I am trying, right?

Groovy man.
I was sent dozens of pictures with 3 or 4 variations of Reggie or another Saints player portrayed as being sodomized by a bear after the 2006 NFCCG. I was the most notable Saints Fan on the camp where I worked at that time, and everyone else was either a Cowboy’s fan, or a Bears Fan. Everyone got in on the fun of sending them to me.

As a VERY pregnant wife? I thought a woman was either pregnant or not. I didn’t know there was a difference between, some, a little, and very. LOL, sorry GRUMPS, I gotta give ya a hard time about it. Congrats, and I hope she pops the baby out before the season starts. I would hate for her to be late to the hospital while you are still watching the game.

Due Date Sept 1
She looks like if a mosquito bit her she would pop. The difference is the level of hostility she shows you. Two weeks ago everything was fine and dandy. These last few days with the false labor has been touchy to say the least.
I had the opportunity to go head down to see the game in the Dome on the 9th. But babies come first. I figure since i passed on that opportunity, the least she can do is come out before or after the game.
Football is easy if you're crazy as hell
You are right, that is the very LEAST she could do. LOL
She has to be a real trooper here and have this baby before the game so you can show the new Saintling how great of a team she is rooting for. :)
