Daily Norseman Fantasy Football League Completes Draft

Well, after your humble commissioner nearly blew up the league by forgetting to change one of the settings, the Official Daily Norseman Fantasy Football League was drafted yesterday. We managed to get through 16 rounds of drafting in a 12-team draft in approximately an hour and 20 minutes, and a good time was had by all. It just about didn't happen, but thanks to the features and flexibility of the CBSSports.com Fantasy Football Commissioner, we got past the minor hiccup in relatively short order.

See, there's a setting for the league that asks you if you want to use the "Draft Robot." I wasn't entirely sure what that meant, so I left it set to "no." Well, it turns out that that activates the "auto pick" feature after a certain time period, and if you don't turn it on, you have unlimited time to make your selections. So, when we got the the #5 overall pick and that person wasn't there, the draft screeched to a halt. However, I was able to go back into the league manager, reset the draft, empty out the rosters, immediately reschedule the draft for 15 minutes from the time we realized something was wrong. . .let's see you do THAT on one of those "free" services. . .and we started the draft at 11:30 AM Central rather than 11 as if nothing had happened.

So, here are the results from the draft, with a poll at the end to see who you all think came out the best after draft day. This post may also set a Daily Norseman record for most players tagged in one post, but we shall see. I'll list the teams in the order they drafted in Round One, and the number in parenthesis behind them will be the round a particular player was taken in. Teams with a * were auto-picked by the computer, as you'll be able to see by a bit of. . .shall we say, "disparity". . .in the make-up of their rosters.

Well, closer to two hours

If you count the 30 minutes I had to take for the re-start.

But actual drafting time was about 1:20, yes.

I went to a website to have my team rated.

As head coach of the Preying Amish, I had my team rated by the “experts”. The website I used generated a report from each of their four experts. Two experts rated my team as brutal, one expert rated my team as iffy and the one expert rated my team as respectable. The voters in the poll and the “experts” do not agree.

Note: Last year for a different league, my team was rated brutal by all 4 experts. I won my league. In their defense, i think their rating system is developed before camp opens.

The site is footballguys.com. I think you have to subscribe to their free newsletter to get this feature. It is a fun exercise if nothing else. The rankings do take into account league rules, # of teams and roster sizes.
