Real, live FOOTBALL!! NFL Hall of Fame Game Open Thread
Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls, children of all ages...Football, the Great American Game, returns in all of its glory tonight as two teams we don't care about play a completely meaningless pre-season game. But you know what? I DON'T CARE!!!! FOOTBALL IS BACK, BABY!! The Cincinnati Bengals take on the Dallas Cowboys at 7 PM CST on your local NBC channel.
I have two interesting tidbits of information for you: Both Cincinnati and Dallas got the absolute snot kicked out of them by your Minnesota Vikings last year.
Also, I have an interesting statistic for you: Did you know, that since the inception of the NFL Hall of Fame game in the Super Bowl era (beginning with SB II, only three teams that appeared in Canton played in the Super Bowl? They were the 1988 Cincinnati Bengals, the 1994 San Diego Chargers, and the 2001 St. Louis Rams. Oh, and all of those teams were a:
Okay, three bits of information. No team who's home stadium hosted the Super Bowl has played in the Super Bowl in that season, so with those two bits of info, I think we can safely say that the Dallas Cowboy season is OVAHR!!
Enjoy the return of football, Viking Nation, and welcome back America's Game!!

History lesson
SB records
Dallas Cowboys 5-3
Minnesota Vikings 0-4
We’ll get over the beat down.
Ich bin ein Berliner--JFK
Why do you have JFK proclaiming he is a jelly doughnut in your sig line?
Damn Cowboy fans…

And that Ladies and Gentlemen....
was your “Final Word” committee of the Dallas Cowboys.
They go around to all SB football blogs, making sure that no one says anything about the Cowboys without verbal reprocussions, even when there is no game between said teams until the regular season if at all.
This committee is also responsible for boosting moral of said Cowboys population and the annoyance of all other fan’s with inseccant whining about how great the past was when the present isn’t looking too good. Also consides with the “We’re going to the Superbowl” mantra when sitting at 6-8 and the division leader is at 7-7. Something all NFL fan’s had to put up with not too long ago and will again soon when Jerry Jones sign’s the next T.O., Packman Jones and other’s from the “I’m the team” or “Penal league” member’s.
"Over? Did you say over? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!" "Germans?" "Forget it, he's rolling."
lol Congrats
It’s just a shame this is a ‘what have you done for me lately’ kinda league. And lately, the Cowboys got their collective asses spanked so bad their ‘leader’ LB, Keith Brooking, could do nothing but whine to the media over it.
Cris Collinsworth gives the Vikings props!
I can’t believe someone from NBC gives the Vikings Huge Props.
Both AL and Chris said that Favre has done nothing wrong………………….
Rodney Harrison go take that and smoke it!
I will be there in person to see some REVENGE on Sept 9th,2010!
Brett Favre is the Greatest QB in NFL History, Bar None!
Brett Favre will be back in 2010, Guaranteed!
Brett Favre will lead the Vikings to a Victory in Super Bowl XLV, Guaranteed!
Love the smell of football in August
There really is something ambrosial about that first football game of the season. It doesn’t matter who is playing or that it doesn’t count, there is the simple joy of seeing football. When compared to a regular season game that counts, last night’s game was more of an open audition, but it was still football and it has been way too long since my last football fix. And Al Michaels and Cris Collinsworth reminding the nation of the 34-3 Vikings victory over the Cowboys in the post-season last year was icing on the proverbial cake.
OOH!!
Can we please put up a fancy timer on the DN to predict how long it will take until TO/Ocho blow up the Bengals’ season? Better yet take bets on a poll? I guess week 5.
The blow up
will happen when TO realizes that he has absolutely no chance of getting paid for all those incentives in his contract. So week 1.
