Sense of Urgency?

Okay. So, just like every true Viking fan, I watched the Favre report on Vikings.com, just like I do every Sunday ( I'm VERY glad that the Vikings won the game on Sunday). So, after the game it was the usual The media asked questions and Favre answered. He shrugged his shoulders many times and mentioned that the reason why the offense is struggling is because they don't practice together.

What? and Why? I mean (I LOVE my Vikings and have since I popped out of my momma's womb) but why have they not practiced together? It's not like these professionals have another job to go to. Right? I mean, for them football is their life. Why can't they get together and practice at some high school football field or somebody's backyard or someplace. I know I'm not crazy about asking this. Shouldn't our guys in purple be practicing in their sleep? We have the talent to be the best! We only need a little polish! If I was on the Viking's offense I would be asking for the keys to Winter Park so we can practice during the bye! (AP can too if he wants to, but doesn't have to since he more than earned his time off).

Another thing Brett Favre said during the after game talk was something about how the team needs to get a sense of urgency. What? What is more urgent than being the next World Champions? Excuse me for pulling a Gary Coleman here but "What you talkin bout, Willis?" Urgency? No offense guys but if I was gifted with athletic ability and was a player on the Vikings, I would eat drink, and sleep football (it would literally be in bed with me between me and the wifey). I would be surrounded by Viking memorabilia and posters of the great Viking players of the past. I would be waking up with one thought on my mind and that would be to bring the Lombardi trophy to Minneapolis! I would be rehearsing my speech to say to the NFL media and talking about how great it feels to win the big one and how the guys gave 100%. I'd be practicing my smile for when I was on the commercial for "You just won the Super Bowl. What are you going to do, now? I'm going to Disneyland!" I would get up in the morning, shower, and dry off with my Purple Reign towel, then eat my Wheaties and kiss a replica of the Super Bowl ring for luck right along with my replica of the Lombardi trophy on my coffee table!

For my daily workout I would head up (run) to the North woods and rob a momma black bear of her cubs and then run like the wind (since running for my life would be the ultimate training)! If I was on the defensive or offensive line, I would run a few yards, turn and face the bruin, then get in my stance and and put the smack down on her (I mean, if I took on a raging bear every day, I figure I could take on any lineman)! I would be sucking down the purple Gatorade like there was no tomorrow!

I would be thinking all the time about winning the Super Bowl. It would be in all my thoughts. I would be obsessed over winning. I would play every game like it was my last and every win would be bring me closer to the Lombardi (my....precious). It would be in my conversations until people would yell at me and say "C'mon give it a rest! Is that all you think about is winning the Super Bowl?" Then I would yell back a resounding "YES!" (Of course I grossly exaggerate but you know what I mean right Vike fans?)

Enough about this football fantasy of mine(not going to happen).

(I hope and pray to God I am wrong about this) Please don't tell me that the FANS want it worse than the PLAYERS? I need to be wrong on this. I would think that our offense would be willing to do whatever it takes to be the best. I would think that they would be willing and want to invest whatever is needed to make this a great and memorable year. They will look for whatever needs to be fixed and fix it, right? The focus must be winning every game and finally winning the big one. I know our team is thinking this, too. They have to be. Right? They are dedicated and they are on the same page. They all want to work together to be the champions this year, Right? I sure see it in Adrian Peterson, but what about the others?

Maybe our offensive passing game is not clicking right now but we are going to work hard and we are going to whatever it takes to get it going. I know for myself and the other players we want this to happen. And yes, we will make it work.

Why don't we hear the commanding voice of Brett Favre saying that and calming our fears?

I'm nearly done with my rambling. I (like all of you) just want to see our team focused and on the same page. Perhaps they need to hear a motivational speaker like Matt Foley (I live in a VAN down by the river!) or someone to fire them up?

Our Vikings NEED a sense of urgency and now! We can't have the nonchalant attitude of Rocky Balboa in Rocky II before the first time he fought Clubber Lang. I hear Mickey yelling, "He's an animal Rock and he's gonna kill ya!"

Our Vikings need to channel their inner Berserk to be intimidating on the field. I'm sure we all remember the Purple People Eaters? Other teams were terrified of them! Or what about the Oakland Raiders of old? I mean Stabler and the rest of them looked like a bunch of barbarians! We need some kind of fear factor in the Vikings. Other teams should be saying, "Holy crap, we gotta play the Vikings this Sunday? Those guys get in my head and really freak me out!"

I want to hear Jared Allen saying psycho things that make other teams uneasy. He needs a dose of John Randle, who would paint his face up like Batman and scare the pee out of the opposing quarterbacks.

I conclude my ramblings with these final thoughts. Let's see more URGENCY. More HUNGER, more PASSION. More CRAZY out of our Vikings! We need the wisdom of Bud Grant! That is what it takes to win the Super Bowl!

Our team is better when they're singing Pants On the Ground, rather then another rendition of I Don't Know What To Tell You.

I hate bringing this kind of stuff up. I HATE asking the questions of why, but I have to. Where's the fire?

Wouldn't you think that after coming so close last year it would make them want it more this year? But I'm wrong. Right? Our offense is going to get better. Our Vikings are focused and they are all on the same page. They want this Championship worse than we do, right? They have the fire and the hunger and passion that is going to take them all the way! Right? They know it's their 50th anniversary and they want to make it special, too. Right?

I still believe. I have and always will! This is our year! I'll just drink some more purple Cool Aide and I'll forget all about this.

SKOL VIKINGS!!!!!
