What do the Viking fans think? You think he's nuts? Just sucking up to Packer fans to get back in their good graces now that he's hanging it up? Or is he just being totally honest?

Who do you think is the best left...if you are being honest with yourself?

He's probably just being honest.

I mean, come on. He played for the Pack for 18 years, and though their relationship ended in what might be generously described as a ‘divorce’, he was still only a Vike for 2. If he thinks the Packers are the best left, he’s not going to have reservations to say it. I doubt he wants to see Aaron Rodgers hoist a Lombardi only one season after he was an INT away from potentially doing the same himself, so I also don’t think it’s sucking up, either. I can’t imagine he’s too terribly thrilled with it.

...and...

I’m rooting for the Jets to win it all, because I really don’t want the Fightin’ Rapists to take yet ANOTHER Lombardi, and I refuse to root for any divisional rivals (except, in this one instance, the Bears, because I do hate them less than the Pack… but once the NFC Championship is over, that alliance is DONE!). That said, if I were to compare Sanchez, Roethlisberger, Rodgers, and Cutler… I’m going to have to say, after the games last week, Rodgers is… probably… ugh… (cuts self)… the best QB left. (Looks at noose with serious contemplation)

LOL okay that made me laugh really hard! I don’t really have a problem admitting players from opposing teams are great. I like to think I can look at the player separate from the team. I think Jared Allen is a very good DE, I used to think top 3-5 but I haven’t been as impressed with him this year and he’s a little too focused on blitzing…that said, I think he’s hilarious. AP is number 1 or 2 in the league…barnone. Its hard to say between him and CJ just cause their styles are so different. I’d do backflips to have either.

He's setting up for a return to play for the Packers again in 2011.

No. Really, I think he still has friends on the Packers and is just rooting for them.

Ya know...

and if he’s also trying to redeem himself some in the eyes of the Packer fanbase, can we truly blame him? I mean, how would you feel- you give 16 out of 17 of your best seasons to a team, you’re a part of their lore and culture, they’ve named parts of the city after you… and now they hate your guts? Let’s be honest, that HAS to be hard to deal with. I don’t think he regrets playing for the Vikes, but at the same time, I’m sure he concerned about his legacy in Green Bay- cuz let’s admit it, the second we get a franchise QB, or hell, even a QB who wins us a Super Bowl, Vike fans are going to be saying “Brett Who?”.

Yeah…it probably sucks for him. I don’t feel too bad cause he could have pushed to go to 30 other teams and I think we wouldn’t have really cared as a fanbase. That said, down the line, after things fade a little, I think the fans will let up on him some and all will be forgiven.

Well Green Bay has moved on, they don’t even remember his name

I still can't get over that t-shirt

Think about it. It really only says something about the person wearing it, what their attitude is. Nothing about the subject of the shirt (what control does Brett Favre have over the memory banks of the tshirt wearing public?)

If Brett Favre — who was the only constant on the teams that compiled the best winning percentage in the NFL in the sixteen years he played there — is “disposable” to the memories of a Packer fan that wears that shirt, then really every player is. Including current favorites Aaron Rodgers, Charles Woodson, Donald Driver, and Clay Matthews. A fan that wears that shirt is pretty much saying they can and will throw any player under the bus once it is convenient to them.

I was surprised, in contrast, by the maturity I saw with a lot of people here over the randy Moss fiasco this year. Moss arguably inflicted more carnage — and more unnecessary carnage — on the Vikings in three weeks than Favre inflicted on the Packers in three years (Favre at least was under the payroll of another team at the time lol). But there were no “We’ll Never Forget You Andy” tshirts (to my knowledge). Just about everyone here was able to simultaneously be disappointed with what he did this year, but still hold fond memories of what he did as part of past Vikings teams.

The further removed I get from “the Packer Favre fiasco,” the more it comes into focus for me that I am really not as disappointed and disgusted by how the Packers organization handled things, than I am about how so much of their fanbase has responded.

I think it's hilarious.

As for your disgust with the Packers fanbase, the feelings mutual. Though (so far) I’ll at least give you credit for not turning your coat twice.

Well, he’s right.

Isn’t he?

Jesus, let it go already. I really don’t think it matters WHAT Favre does anymore, to bitter, angry people like you. You really want to fault him for saying that? Really? Just curious …. wouldn’t you rip him too if he said anything else, if he said some other team was the favorite? Be honest.

Sad.
