Vikings Sign Wide Receiver That's Better Than Percy Harvin
With the Vikings being short-handed at wide receiver this week, thanks to Asante Samuel's cheap shot completely and totally acceptable hit on Sidney Rice, they did the only logical thing that they could do.
They signed wide receiver Juaquin Iglesias to a contract.
Iglesias will be on the 53-man roster this weekend.
Iglesias hasn't done a damn thing in the National Football League thus far. . .literally. Since being drafted out of Oklahoma in 2009 by the Chicago Bears, he's been active for all of one NFL game, and has yet to catch a single pass.
But Iglesias is known for one thing here at The Daily Norseman, or at SB Nation in general, at least. In 2009, after the Vikings had drafted wide receiver Percy Harvin in the first round of the draft and the Bears had taken Iglesias in the third round, the folks over at Windy City Gridiron. . .by a nearly 70/30 margin. . .declared that Iglesias was a better wide receiver/football player/whatever than Percy Harvin.
Going into the 2010 season finale, Iglesias only trails Harvin by 123 receptions, 1,589 receiving yards, and 11 receiving touchdowns. Not to mention the four touchdowns that Harvin has contributed on rushes and kickoff returns.
Oops.

This team needs some serious help
Hoping they make some big adjustments in the off-season.

What do you mean?
We just upgraded our receivers!!!!!!!
We should be good.
Especially after we convince Spurgeon to come back.
Hmmm
He does seem to have a good handle on its inspection, too.
Yep, looks like everything’s standard.
Hidden Gem????
Don’t know why Bears only had him active for one game but he can catch. I watched a lot of Oklahoma games the last few years and this guy was Sam Bradford’s favorite target.
He was drafter pre-Mike Martz for Bears version of west coast offense. He was buried on depth chart and never got a shot. When Martz came in he must not have liked J-I for his style offense. Martz is particular about players who fit his schemes.
When I watched Inglesias at OU, their spread was a varient of WCO. Lots of short pases with physical receivers expected to get yards after the catch. He did that well and should fit i with the Vikings.

Troy Williamson Is Available
Old Stonehands got cut in the preseason by the Jags. Hard to believe the Vikings got a sixth-round pick for him.
/doesn’t make up for the third round pick to New England for Randy Moss

Why not pick him up as a DB?
After all, doesn’t the old saying go like this: “DBs are just receivers that can’t catch”
Seems to me he’d be perfect in that capacity!

This article sounds like it was written by a BUNGHOLE. That’s the way to make the new guy feel welcome. You’re a real inspiration.

I am sure NFL players do not spend much time agonizing over what bloggers say about them, and if they do they probably won’t cut it in the NFL.

All the Vikings players come in here and adjust their playing to what we say. ;-)

In all fairness
as a Bears fan most of us viewed Harvin as a injury prone risk, especially since Florida WR’s generally don’t pan out. Most draft sites thought that Juaquin Iglesias was a solid pick in the 3rd round, he got buried last year after Knox stood out more, and this year he was a bad fit, its too bad he’s gone, but its not a bone crushing move, in fact look at it as your 3rd round pick this year as a project.
